If anyone has made a decent £300 laptop (for running Windows) then I don't know about it. If she wants games, she needs some power. You're bot going to get it on a £400 budget without building it, and it will take you an couple of hours to research and order the parts, and another couple to bolt them together, and save you around 40-50% of the price. Better deal definitely, but personally I'd not touch anything from AMD at the moment. I used to be a proper AMD fanboy but every desktop CPU I've seen from them for the past 3 years or so has been wank haha. Building a desktop and installing windows can be done in a couple of hours and you will get a far better spec for the money. A £600 computer to buy will cost you about £300 to build, promise!

There's a price premium on those things because they're a gimmick. Also, that thing appears to have the CPU from a novelty doorbell, which is not enough to run Windows 8. IMO get a decent laptop (£600-700 is the pricepoint where the best value can be had), or build her a desktop, which is by far the best value route. My proper recommendation though is not to spend £400 on a Christmas present for someone, because that's is mental.
