    Poor Brake

Yeh simple physics, but it is one of those wierd things that doesn't act like it should. I had a Zona Zip frame, added a booster and the brake went to shit, no noise, bite or hold, I know the set up can effect these things, but I know how to set up maguras, as soon as I took it off the brake was better. However, my brother has a t-lite, the brake was OK, but when I added an RB booster, it became a lot better almost instantly. Both instances the brake was set up properly with the pads hitting the rim straight, decent grind, pads that were wearing straight etc.
  3. Looking sweet Danny, how does it compare to the other one riding wise? Can't wait to see pics of the mod version.
  4. If we're all going to meet at 12:30 now instead of 11, I'll need to know before 2PM today, because that's when I leave college and I ain't got no internet at home.

    Headset

The star nut doesn't do anything above tensioning the headset, you can remove it and ride without it if you want. I once solved this by lightly filing the steerer tube area to roughen the surface, and lamping the bolts up. It gives it enough purchase to not move.
  6. As long as it's a 1 1/8 external headset it will fit. If you havn't got a headset press then take it to a bike shop to get it fitted properly.
  7. I've done it loads of times, but you start from the water surely! You swim out, check the depth, climb up the cliff then wizz back down, and repeat going higher and higher. Try and make sure you do it as the tide is coming in, then it gets deeper and deeper as you go higher and higher, not shallower as you go higher, which isn't good.
  8. I'd do the double backings mod, but I'd screw them together, glueing seems a bit dangerous to me... Do both.
  9. I always leave the pads in, and gently lever them apart with a big flat blade screwdriver. If you take the pads out you can damage the piston, as I once did.
  10. I'll fill it with mud and water if the last YMSA was anything to go by, then when washing my bike it will fill with water. I think it can save about 15g, so f**k that.
  11. It doesn't save enough to make me want to buy a dremmel and do it, and then endure my bike filling with water and mud.
  12. I doubt it will be a design fault, a 128mm bb is a 128mm bb. However, in my experience it's the cranks that dictate the clearance in most cases. I have TI cranks on a 124mm bb, and the clearance is about 6-9mm. My brothers bike has a Truvativ 128mm bb, and Echo Forged cranks, and the clearance is really tight. Both on Tensile freewheels, so the cranks must be making a bigger impact.
  13. It would, I'm waiting for my Dad to machine my bashring down. I did prefer the old one, and the 07/08 maggy frame is my favourite to look at. The 08 disc rides best though, the geo is slightly different to the 07 long maggy I had and loads different to the 06 short.
  14. I still can't remember how I have your number, I can't remember you ever giving it to me. But yeh, I need to stock up on credit today, I have 69p left. Not a good number really...
  15. I'll be the gimp with Muel on his bike.
  16. Fair enough, but the stickers are staying for now, I like them and I have a load more to use up. I did prefer the looks of my 06 one with all the black stuff to be honest. Linkature.
  17. I take it your freewheels mended? Yay! I'm there, but I don't know my way round the station, where abouts are we meeting? EDIT: Oh yeh, can someone PM me their number so I can find you when I get there? I don't know my way round Sheffield station.
  18. Sometimes I'll go yarge if I'm going for a big gap, and as for thinking about it, I don't really, which is why I like trials so much, I can put down everything and ride for half an hour and forget about all the work I have to do, which puts me in a better frame of mind for working.
  19. Get an Echo Lite short, they are daft strong. The 07 and 08s are easier to break though, so I'd say get an 06, mine was if anything stiffer than my current 08, they are heavier though.
  20. I used to get this on my 06 maggys, just grin and bare it and your fingers will toughen up. Don't pop it or it will hurt more.
  21. Dude, Me and me mates live down New Mills/Chinley/Chapel way. Add me to MSN, ain't got the internet at home at the moment but it's el_muelio@hotmail.co.uk. Let's get a ride on the go sometime! We often ride Buxton.

  22. Just did the compulsory Key Skills Communication exam. LOL. Such a load of useless shite, every Uni I have looked at says, "xxx ucas points, not including Key Skills".
  23. Cheers matey, I photoshopped it and tried to base it on the Echo sticker, and Mr Fish got them printed up for me. Brilliant, it suits me perfectly, they have a relatively high bb at 60mm, but I have the long and it doesn't feel really high, just a lot roomier than my 06 short and the reach is perfect for me.
  24. 17th, Sheffield station, 11:00-11:30 AM I think, there's a topic in the rides bit.
