  1. yeah still got em and will bring them along with my usual box of spares
  2. Kev im just wondering if you got my entry form okay, might have been a little bit late, sorry about that! :$
  3. Looking forward to the last couple of rounds, seems like such a long time since the Fort! Kev, im glad you're enforcing the 'proper' rules of having the time limit, saves folk fannying about before/after the section. Also means i cant spend ages picking my lines mid section will be great to get back into the comp riding after the summer break. My entry should be with you soon Kev!
  4. thats one clean looking bike there! I have the Inspired risers and are spot on for me, plenty wide and very comfortable and great than they have the markings so you can chop them down a bit, only gripe is that they scratch very easily.
  5. Looking to ride Carlisle at some point this week, either on this Thursday (21st) or Saturday (23rd). I have some non trials riding mates from Dumfries going on Thursday so I may join them or I can leave it til Saturday where I'll have more time and better chance of getting folk out as its the weekend. If you're interested in a wee hop about, hit me up with a text with your name on 07512469891 and hopefully a ride can be sorted out! Dan
  6. Dabbled with brakeless a while back on my old Onza and enjoyed it, definetely improved my riding when i returned to brakes. Nah keeping them on- future proofing Yep thats correct!
  7. Just thought id post up some pics of my wee project ive been busying myself with for a while, some of you guys may not have seen one of these frames in a while they were certainly the bomb back in the day! Built up for no more than £120 so far, goes to show that our expensive sport can be cost effective in these difficult financial times and can still have a shit load of fun! Big thanks go to Ross McArthur for kindly donating the frame. Started of with this... Mid build... Complete! Geo: WB- 1040mm CS- 385mm BB- -5 HA- 73 deg Excuse the shoddy image quality, taken on my phone. Dan
  8. Thanks Kev! I'll give it a shot see how i feel, Johny's bike felt good to me so i'll take you up on that offer. The one thing i gotta get used to on comp style bike is the high bb, kinda feels like im 'ontop' of the bike and stretched forward, i think its because of me coming from a mountain bike background im used to low bb's.
  9. Damn -.- well i did offer some pennies for it lol. Hopefully i'll be out on it soon i just need 'bars and a front wheel, possibly a stem too but i'll see what its like with some high risers on it.
  10. Shu'up it looks beast! i may need to get used to 26" again i feel pretty comfortable on 24 i get on my XC bike and yes i know its a bad comparison but it feels so damn clumsy. Had a go on Johny's Limey and i felt good on that i think if it had a slightly shorter stem it would have been ideal but then again its downfall is being good for street. Ohii my brakes are fine just need a water bleed yeno i'll try a 17t sprocket on there soon as well. 'Bar and stem wise i'll try running my bars further forward for more reach. HexHexHexHexHexHex? Too true its going for a respray soon as well so goodbye retro graphics and raw finish that appears to have been sat outside in a storm for a week and hello rowan johns replica in glossy emo black.
  11. BB is still too low plus it looks god awful The reach isnt too bad, i have a 90*25 deg stem on there, but i may benefit from a slightly longer reach, im about 5' 9" and if im riding all day i do tend to ache for a while, maybe a couple more mm would just be enough. What if i went for a +45 bb and 375 chainstays? Yeah cool i'll check out Wip but i supect they will be more expensive due to being alu?
  12. Oreet guys, after riding a few comps ive decided a longer frame is what im needing to make stuff a bit easier, the pure street set up im running at the moment wont cut it if i want to progress that bit further. Despite this i still want to be able to stick with the creative/spinny street riding i enjoy and it seems there are no 24" aluminium frames on the market which suit my needs. The only option is to contact Marino to get exactly what i want. Im currently riding an Ashton Effect which has the following geo: 1035 WB 380 CS +30 BB 72 deg HA For a new frame im thinking along the lines of: 1045 WB 370-380 CS +45 BB 72 or 73 deg HA Few questions first off; if i kept the same CS length of the Ashton, how much would raising the BB by 10-15mm affect how the bike is on the rear wheel? Personally i find shorter chainstays easier on the initial hop but doesnt stay so balanced when staying on the rear wheel. Also would i just keep the same 560mm (22") length of the top tube or would i benefit from having a slightly longer reach? Final question is where is the gusseting most effective on a steel frame compared to an alu one? Any help appreciated! Dan
  13. 'member to bring that frame and tyre Ross ta.
  14. Yup same here "so James why did you paint it lilac?" "Well it was cheap" LOL
  15. I have a problem with the mobile version, whenever i reply to posts or create a new topic it takes me back to the homepage when i submit it and the reply doesnt go on. Might just be my phone though.....
  16. any tips for getting a grind to last longer, im grinding my rim once a month every month, i have had my new wheels since Christmas and ive done 3 or 4 'proper' grinds and the last time was about 2 weeks ago that was just a light freshen or 'condition' if you like for a comp. I run Heatsink yellows and they work amazing on a light/medium grind but after about 4 weeks the performance reduces dramatically and lack bite or hold and is a nightmare when it gets hot or if im riding in dusty conditions, im at that stage right now and treating it like a smooth rim like making sure the rim is clean and cleaning the pads, im reluctant to grind any more as i'll just be wasting my expensive wheel. Ive heard people having a grind last 3 years, how on earth do they do it?
  17. Good wan Ross! Getting really smooth with your riding now, nice to see some creative lines, filming was good, my only critisism in the editing would be the slow mo stuff, but geed, very geed! Get a wee bit filming done on friday?
  18. how do you get a grind to last longer? im grinding my rim once a month every month, and ive had my new wheels only 4 months they were a bit expensive so id like to get a good lifetime out of them. Im using a new disc when grinding, i try get a light/medium sharp grind and i hardly ever drag my brake, am i just riding too often? or is it my technique?
  19. cool man, shorts it is!! legs need a bit of tanning
  20. Should be plenty fun this weekend guys! Looks like great weather too. Kev, it says on the form that long trousers must be worn but if its hot would i be okay with 3/4 shorts and knee pads?
  21. good vid of the event, looked like a great weekend!
