so as was mentioned in my earlier post i am now using nitro mors having difficulty gettin in and amongst the nooks and crannies using a wire brush attachment on a drill but although it is working pretty well at shifting the paint i seem to be getting splatter onto areas which i have stripped so its a sort of p***ing into the wind kind of affair at the moment any tips espec people who have rawed this frame before would be great thanks

standard clamps but not the bolts
-
no booster being used standard maggy mounts thats what i was thinking just looking for a suitable bolt thatll go that bit deeper into the thread, dont wanna learn the hard way again
-
thanks mark definatly getting the helicoils done so M5 is that a size 5 on an allen key set bolt? may seem a complete noob but keep confusing myself the stripped bolt was a size 4 on the allen key set so does that mean itd go to a size 5 after helicoil? might just hand it to engineers at work and say make this work haha
-
Got a bit of confusion with bolts etc wondered if people could point me in the right direction recently threaded an allen key bolt in my maggy (not overtightened just ripped straight outta the frame) so obviously a helicoil is in order, not a problem engineers do them at work will probs get all 4 threads done to be on the safe side i was thinking about running some slightly longer bolts the current bolt that threaded was a size 4 allen key bolt, with the helicoil i would be going to size 5 is that correct bolt length is the next question the current bolts i have knocking about are 3cm of thread, can i get longer size 5 allen key bolts so that there will be more thread bolt contact because with my magura clamps there doesnt seem to be much and i can see it happening again any help or a point in the right direction of some more suitable bolts would be great thanks

piece of threaded bar 2 plates of steel wider than the headtube 2 bolts either end of the threaded bar undo one bolt, feed it through the headtube so you end up with the following arrangement bolt steel plate headcup frame frame headcup steel plate bolt then make sure the cups are in straight and tighten the two bolts so it presses the cups into the frame. because the plates are wider it will put even force accross the whole cup hence putting them in level. really important to place them level beforehand though to make things easier. hope that helps

Today was a bit of a wash out real shame though because it had the makings of a real good ride unlucky gaz snapping your frame....... i think it was because it was a blue one but on the positive side made some new mates and also new contacts to ride with in the future when it dries up lets have another crack at it and panda......... put a lid on lad!!!!!!
