Hi there, Currently I am working on my last uni project which would best describe as the 'ultimate bicycles related venue'. It consists of: Main reception within a Retail space located on the ground floor; Bicycles cafe and 5 rooms for shared Accommodation on the first floor; and a Workshop area + Riding spot in the basement of the world's first multistorey motor garage on 24 Vinicombe str in Glasgow. My project would be rather conceptual as probably none of my ideas will be applied into reality but I would like to make it as realistic as possible. Here are my concerns related to the existing structure. The basement ceiling height is 2700mm which automatically excludes any higher ramps as an option for my 'bike park'. After consultation with a structural engineer I managed to make voids in the ceiling where height would no longer bother my work but the overall track proposal should be quite low. As my building is A-listed (which means almost no structural alterations are allowed) and there is a main supporting structure running below the floor slab - digging into the ground is also forbidden. I did my best to design a mini park in the space but am not sure if it would work at all (cause it looks quite ambitious for the space) and if it does - would it be fun to ride.. I also spoke to one of my friends who rides bmx and the guy suggested using some boxes and low rails rather than pipes, pyramids etc.. I was considering an indoors pump track as an option but am not sure if it would be of any interest to potential riders.. Could you please share any initial thoughts or any general advice that I need to know when I plan such installation? I can also provide with a section and a floor plan if needed. These are some inspirations to illustrate my ideas for the moment: Should it be more abstract Or something busier of this kind I guess apart from some flatlanders not my riders would be interested to ride in there having nothing but a few rails, so it might be focused towards teaching commuters how to deal with some small obstacles.. Anyways, please share your views on that! Any opinion and comment matter! Thank you very much for the attention!

I don't know why but this bike looks so comfortable to ride!

It's a point of view. There are different disciplines in riding and therefore different types of specialized/modified bikes to make life easier. If following your logic then dh riders, for example, should also ride 'normal looking bikes'.. but they don't. In my opinion, there is a slight difference between street and trials and I don't get people using normal looking bikes to ride trials with. For me street riding is all about lines and spins (not that I know much about it). It's like a continuous motion where you want to overcome obstacles in a spectacular way like showing off with your style/skills whereas trials is more static and is more about size and efficiency

How long have you been riding for? I don't know any trials rider who didn't have this pain when they started.. Give yourself a bit of break away from the bike then once the pain is gone jump on it again. You will keep getting this for the first 1-2 months I guess, so take it easy

The last freewheel I had to replace was a tensile 60 click which I had from near new and was working all fine when I bought it.. In a few months of average riding 3 of the pawls snapped and the outer teeth ring still looks brand new. I guess it might be some bad material they have used for the pawls in a certain period of time. I have not had my freewheel overtightened or too loose after service neither my chain.

Was that Bogdan Campean on the atomz? Very smooth rider!

We are given a good range of possible buildings, so I can choose the one that fits best, depending on the design concept and scale of my project. Don't bother with that, please.

I'll be doing a bikes related project as one of my final year projects at university and was wondering if you could share any thoughts.. As I study interior design (do quite a lot of architectural modifications as well) it would be sort of a hub for bicycle related activities. After a quick research, I made a list of some usual features: - bikes cafe: usual beverages, toasts, etc.. organizes social events - workshop: provides: tools for fixing your own bike service by professional mechanics - classes: traffic safety bicycle maintenance confident cycling sustainability & healthy lifestyle - shop: selling recycled bikes as well as new bikes and parts, clothing, nutrition etc.. My particular work is to design a space, so some specific details about bikes are not required. However, designing a space is mainly based on its function. And in order to have an interesting design, I need to think of some innovative uses of such space. All above-mentioned seem too straightforward to me and was hoping if you could suggest anything exciting? Don't need a complete solution, of course, just keywords or basically anything that comes to your mind? Thanks a lot everyone! http://www.thebikestation.org.uk/ http://www.siemprebicyclecafe.com/

could it be some old toxsin model?

Unfortunately trials is not so prestigious in Bulgaria.. Even though I got a bit better since last time you saw me

Thanks Eric! I think Ross got it right, though.. Will try to do what he says later on today. if you see this: http://youtu.be/-r9sTzc44YQ?t=6s I think I'm doing a static hop on those clips but the trick I tried to explain seems a bit different.. It might be just the height making it look different, don't know. Thanks anyway both of you!

if you see here at 5:44, that's the one

Been out riding yesterday and tried to figure out a basic trick that's quite often used when riding natural.. Don't know what it's called but it seems like a mix of surge and zap tap probably. It's when you have your both wheels on the same level or your front wheel at a relatively low height and with almost no compression/energy involved you get on a rear wheel on the place that your front wheel used to be. Hope that makes sense as I can't seem to find any clips to show just now. I can do surge and static zap tap to rear wheel on a wall but when tried to do this one it looks as I've just pedal kicked. Any advise on what should I try if you get what I mean at all? Cheers, Nasco

thought I wouldn't post it on here as my riding is still not that good.. was quite busy with uni and work and basically I go out once in a month or two, so every time I feel like getting back to trials after a long break and am not comfortable on my bike doing some random hops all around. anyway hope I'll be not that busy during the summer, so I'll try to practice more and post a proper video soon Nasco.

My trials mate from Bulgaria Krum Metodiev (on the bionic) has made a new chilled edit riding with his friend Doychin Abadzhiev (on the onza) in Turnovo, Bulgaria. Thought it's worth sharing on here as he wouldn't do and the riding's not so bad

Hey fellas, basically I am about to lace a rear echo tr fixed hub (116mm) onto a 19" alex dx32 rim from the old silver ones but am not sure about what spokes length to order.. think it should be 170mm, however tried a few calculators and all show different spokes sizes not even close to that.. 19", 381X32, 510g, ERD: 371 - http://www.alexrims.com/product_detail.asp?sc=0&cat=22&pid=82 Hub Dimensions - Flange Diameters: 39mm - Centre to Flanges: 36mm - http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/116mm_fixed_hubs/echo_tr_rear/c62p10706.html those hubs come 32h only and the rim is 36h but that's fine, I've laced such wheels before.. any thoughts? cheers, Nasco

Ross McArthur Your hoodie magically came off over that gap to pallet! Amazing 13 March at 16:40 · Unlike · 1 Atanas Dyakov skills 13 March at 16:50 · Like haha, right! did it clean both times to be honest, just didn't want to waste clips as there were not many anyway

how much roughly do they go for second hand on here? saw the ones on tarty but wouldn't be able to afford 300quid for a brand new one...

After I quit trials for a few years and had 2-3 months of practice to get back in shape I made that video and thought not to post it on here as my riding's still not that great as what I'm seeing from other vids on the forum... anyway, let me know what you think thanks!

thanks for the replies fellas, I might go for the because in near future. plan to destroy the limey learning taps first and then keep the new frame in a good condition
-
oh yeah, my bad.. considering this: the bigger, the better.. I thought it's the other way round, sorry! So get the limey then
