Too much Fender in here Mr Booth haha. I just finished rebuilding this. Ibanez MIJ RG7421. Stripped it completed and replaced all electronics and tuners. Filled the old tuner mounting holes with Luminlay, because glow in the dark. I also just got the neck and EDGE bridge from a RG7620 as well, I'll be transplanting them into a maple body at some point for another project thing. Some WIP photos here.

Agathis is a cheap body wood. I've read tonally they're okay, unless you plan to do some body work it'll be fine. But of course a proper mahogany body will be better, but still there's good mahogany and bad mahogany. I won't get into the guitar tone wood side of things, it never ends haha.

You can use mono cables. I am. Probably your guitar, open up the back plate and check the wires are all properly connected. Perhaps the quick connector under the pickups has come undone??

Probably don't want to spend that much on a LP if you're not sure how long you'll be playing for. Probably don't even want to spend £500 straight away. Fender or Fender Squire strats seems to be what a lot of (semi?)newbies go for. I started on a strat type guitar. Do you have a particular style of guitar you like? Les Paul shape? Strat shape? Tele shape? Colours? Hard to recommend a guitar as there's so many options!

I'd say grab the drivers first using your old computer or another one before putting it all together. Put it all on a USB drive ready to use.

Why is it luck? If there's an issue with Itunes then I should have experienced it no? The problem doesn't just appear when I'm unlucky. When do I get unlucky anyway? When itunes crashes? Or I'm unlucky first then itunes crash? Something caused that problem. So if my itunes never crashes on my W7 but it does on your girlfriends (whatever windows she was on) then surely it's something wrong with her laptop whether it's software/hardware that caused it? Now I'm not saying itunes is amazing, I only use that for my iphone now. It's just one of those pieces of propiority software that I have to use. I used to use it as my main music player but I prefer the layout of windows media player.

I have a 128GB SSD as my boot drive. Still using a 1TB hard drive as SSDs are £300 for anything close to 1TB which is what I need.
