  1. It refreshes the parts which other bikes cannot reach Brownie points for the first who can remember where that's paraphrased from! Steve
  2. I used to road cycle everyday since I didn't have a car during University and I'm not a fan of waiting for a bus. Fell in love with XC, then Trials. No time for XC nowadays due to family commitments, but I'll be back when my babies are big enough! Steve

Rob was a guy of many talents. I was very fortunate to work alongside him and see the design skills that he had developed at such a young age. He designed & made the original pair of Vee adapters which got me interested in the idea. Then he was very keen to hear my ideas of mass producing it and always a pleasure to talk with, albeit by email and PM. I wish I had made the effort to phone him. He also did all the difficult work on the CNC Magura backings, which I will be eternally grateful to him for. He was one of the many guys on TF that it comforted me to think was destined for great things. Now all we can do is to live our lives on behalf of the many riders who are no longer with us, be the best we can be, and celebrate their lives and how they touched our lives. RIP ROB Steve

  5. Well done against some strong opposition! My brain has now come to a standstill this evening, but PM sent and I'll get the final tweaks to you asap. Bright green is one of my favourite colours from the past batch. I will definately have some of those made! Steve
  6. The results! Well done to AdamAllen; This family of designs stood out for me, and also attracted the most positive comments which sealed it The final tweaks on design position and colours (one colour version) can be sorted later. An extra special mention also to the following stand out designs: Sam Holmes Great idea creating ingenuity from simplicity Jon Mackinnon Killer font and layouts Joe Sheehan An eye catching idea! Thanks to everyone who gave up some time to have a go. I enjoyed seeing all the entries and I really appreciate how much effort many of you put into it! Steve
  7. Hi, Is this what you were looking for? Only 1 set made and these are currently available to buy Steve
  8. Just a little bump. The winner will be anounced this evening Steve
  9. Thanks to everyone for producing all these designs so far! There are alot of great entries so far and it's going to be hard to pick the winner. Plenty of time still for an outsider to come in and win! Comp is ending next Thursday, the 19th of June. To keep from the costs running away, the design should be on the front of the tee and not on the arms or rear. This allows a single screen to be used, placed over the body of the Tee and the logo to be applied through this in one operation. I learnt the hard way how costs start building up when you get carried away with multiple colours and print locations! I'm looking forward to seeing your new submissions and tweaks to existing designs. There is no limit to the number of designs you can submit, so why not try other ideas that you've been chewing over. Best wishes, Steve
  10. Hi! This thread is to answer the request of allowing NMC members to participate in the competition here in Chit-Chat. Looking forward to your submissions! Steve
  11. Hi! No probs to receive submissions in this area of the Forum too I'll post a thread in a sec. BTW, Gok, I'm a fan of your work Steve
  12. Hi all, I'm offering an opportunity for someone to see their design immortalised on a run of T-shirts, which will end up being worn by some Top riders around the world including Aurelien Fontenoy (20" & 26" Junior World champ). The winner will recieve one of the Tees and also be the first to get their hands on a pair of HSB Magura pads in a colour not yet made public. Previous HSB T design The purpose of the Tees is for the HSB website logo to be as noticeable as humanely possible. The current Tee design below didn't maximise this. With the whole URL on one line it suits frame stickers (long tubing) but for Tees a square design is a better fit. So splitting the Heatsink & Bikes.com onto 2 lines would be the way forward. The sort of design which I'm looking for would be made up of Good font for the URL of Heatsinkbikes.com, split onto 2 lines (idea, but not essential having seen some good submissions!). Text can be horizontal or at an angle, in line or staggered, curved, font distorted, 3D. Possible simple supporting art: E.g. simple boxing, new shape, under lining like on the current design, product outline optional. Maximum impact An optional tagline would be "Innovation In Motion" KISS is definately the thing to focus on! (Keep It Simple Stupid) One colour design (So no lighter shades) Design on the front body of the Tee please. Not on the arms, wrapped around the side, or rear due to printing cost Variety of Tee & print combinations to be produced using the design. Mock up in whatever colour combination floats your boat Comp ends Thursday 19th of June Looking forward to your entries! Steve
  13. It's great that you've been looking at this magazine idea. This thing is going to have to be very very well thought out to succeed though. Much sense has been spoken so far I think, which should be taken on board & stimulate further ideas. I can think of lots of points too I'd like to write but don't have time in the next 2 mins. I'd really like it to succeed, and the more minds you have to look at it, the better rather than keeping it all a secret. Have you proven to yourself that the figures add up to make it all worthwhile. Estimations of readership, costs, profit. It's all got to be as thorough as possible I'd say, and you've got to stay objective rather than doing it for the love of Trials when it may not be a business. Looking forward to more details of your plans. Steve
  14. Assuming the job of the letter is to get your paperwork sorted asap with the money owed, I think the letter will be more successful if it's to the point and has some positive tones. Gives all the facts simply and thanks them for their speedy assistance. I'd strip it back to this structure: Contact details Reason for letter - Succinct explanation of what it covers, i.e intention to leave and you wish to summarise the money owed to you so this can be paid asap. Calculation of owed monies, just bullet points (easier to understand than when talked through in a long paragraph): Hours worked @ £x a hour = : Holiday not taken = TOTAL End letter saying in a positive way thanking them in advance for quickly processing it, and saying what you expect (processing in next week). Inviting them to contact you within a week and you will contact them again after that time to check the status. Good luck! Steve
  15. Glue isn't strong in peal, so try and peal them out using a vice. In fact, I'd carefully try with my teeth at the back first of all! I'm sure that you'll be pleased with the reds' performance. The Euro hasn't replaced our currency yet (although it may in the future!), so all prices are in GB pounds. You can easily convert the cost using a site like www.xe.com. Steve
  16. Either due to some aging, or simply because he put a very slightly different % of pigment into the mix. The pigment % is so incredibly small that the colour has absolutely no effect on how it performs, i.e. the base material is unaltered in how it behaves. In all my communication with Michel, he is absolutely adamant that the compound now is the same as it has always been. It's feasible that he has varied the colouration a tad though. Steve
  17. The thread repair method that riders seem to be commonly using (under the term "Helicoil") is the "Wire thread insert" type, and the bog standard version which is "Free running". More explanation here It all seems very mysterious until you've seen it done! Steve
  18. You certainly can Steve
  19. Hi, As Hugh said, the pad material in the Heatsink Coust pads is supplied by the man himself, "Daddy Coust", Michel Coustellier. He's told me on numerous occasions that he's never altered the material since he started using it and it first attracted so much attention and praise around the world. He is naturally secretive about its production, as you'd expect. I believe he put alot of work in searching for the best pad material to arm his famous sons, Gilles & Giacomo. From the speed he is able to process orders for me, I suspect that he has invested in the equipment to made the pads 100% himself, which is impressive. I had some of the plastic backings he used to sell the Coust pad material in and was worried about their design. It was a natual step to marry up the Coust material with the 3 types of backings that I use. Steve
  20. Well done on getting this opportunity Joe! Enjoy it Steve
  21. Sorry for the delay getting the results up! The Winner: A big thanks to Tomm, Jon Mack, Sam Holmes and others who spent time on this and produced some very professional results. Best wishes, Steve

    Vee Pads.

If you have 3 pads then you can cut up the 3rd and use it to fill the gaps at both ends. Alternatively, I'd recommend using Epoxy resin to fill the voids. Steve
  23. Hi Joe, Thanks for explaining via PM about the problem with your Syringe. I'm sorry for this problem. It's the first problem I've heard of with a HSB bleed syringe. I can now check all syringes for this before they go out and eliminate any faulty ones in future. Ready to send the replacement as soon as you can confirm your address. Cheers! Steve
  24. Hi Dave, I'm very much here I was off for a week last month and somehow in my Auto-reply message I put down the wrong return month. :$ Anyone who emailed me would have thought I was off for 2 months! Bleed kits are in stock for quick send out and all pads etc are being sent out same day again Steve
  25. 24" wheels in a Base 26" worked well for me! Running disc would side-step the usual lowered brake mount problems. Front we have Pashley forks with lowered mounts. Rear, this mount idea. Steve
