White water rafting and the sky dive was about £150, that's done over 2 days and included transport to and from your hostel. It cuts into the budget by quite a bit but your not gonna be able to do both of those things for that price over in the UK! Sydney is expensive too, for example in some places I was getting getting a dorm for about $18-$20 a night but in Sydney it was around $30-$35ish per night. When you change this into pounds its still cheap, and you could get hostels cheaper in the dodgier areas of Sydney (Kings Cross, interesting place, loads of dirty strip joints, hookers on the street, drug dealers, and its the only place in Australia where I felt threatened and nearly got beaten up!). If you plan to be in Sydney for new years book well in advance, I have heard of back packers ending up having to sleep in shop doorways because all the hostels were full! Also expect hostels to bump their prices up even higher at new years! I preferred Melbourne to Sydney but I guess I'm biased due to having mates in Melbourne. You are right with working Visas. You only get one tourist working visa in your whole life. You have to have been accepted for this before your 30th birthday, have no kids or dependants, no criminal record. This 1 year visa allows you to spend up to 6 months working for the same employer. You can apply for a 2nd year extension on the condition that you spent 3 months working for the same employer within the farming industry (e.g. fruit picking). If you get accepted for this second year I don't think you have to use it straight away, I think you can leave the country and go back to use it for another trip. Alternatively you would have to get sponsored by an employer to stay out there working. After you have used the working Visa you can go back but you would be limited to the 3 or 6 month Tourist only visas. Even if you don't have a working visa you will be able to find cash in hand jobs but I wouldn't like to know what would happen if the authorities caught you!

I cant really help you with Thailand, haven't been yet but its on my list of things to do! Thailand is meant to be getting more and more touristy and lots of people are saying to get out there as soon as possible. If your into rock climbing Railay Beach in Thailand is meant to be a climbing paradise! Your also meant to be able to live like a king in Thailand for not much money which is all good! I can help you with Australia though, a few other forum members should be able to help you too Here is a thread I started asking for help with my Australia trip I travelled from Melbourne up to Cairns, flew to Alice Springs then went from there down to Adelaide before heading back to Melbourne along The Great Ocean Road. I cant really help too much with transport tips as I cheated a bit by doing more organised tours due to the limited time I had over there but it will be easy for you to travel and meet loads of people as you go! On the Easy Coast you have to do the following! Melbourne! Its such an awesome city! The Blue Mountains - Get a train from Sydney to Katoomba and stay at The Flying Fox Hostel! 3 days in the mountains was one of the best parts of my entire trip! Fraser Island Sail the Whitsundays! Cairns is a really cool place but mainly just pubs and clubs, obviously make sure you go out to the Reef, also in Cairns you can White Water raft the Tully river and do a sky dive, both amazing! Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Forest just up the coast from Cairns. The Great Ocean Road, awesome coastline! I could go on for ages! So many good times! Things I wish I had done: Darwin in the Northern Territory so I could visit Kakadu and the national parks up there Western Australia. Everyone I spoke to about the West Coast said it was much better than the East Coast, not so touristy etc... Tasmania is supposed to be great scenery and walks In the future I plan to go back for sure, Australia is an amazing place, really want to go to New Zealand aswell! For Hostels go use hostelworld.com and hostelz.com to make bookings on the move and to read reviews.

Love it Craig! Craig doesn't need to go to Chicksands, his local trails are The Quantocks! I went to the Quantocks for the first time last weekend on the XC rig, I will definitely be going back there again, there is so much to explore!!! Quantocks is on par with Wales, it has to be among the top 10 best places to Mountain Bike in England!

Maybe you should ring them in the morning and ask? Or if you read the DVLA website, within the contact details you will find the following: Drivers enquiries (Driving Licences - including lorry or bus licences) Address: Drivers Customer Services (DCS) Correspondence Team DVLA Swansea SA6 7JL

Thats a point, how did I forget?!! Tom's Leeson 24 had green Hope hubs, headset, seat clamp and bar plugs! (picture above from 2004 the night it was built)

Hmmm do I join Bigman and go to Koxx days or do I stay at home?
-
I forwarded this link to some work friends and they put the vouchers to good use today at lunch I chose to eat sandwich's from home, I save so much money by eating stuff from home instead of buying food in town!

That method is relying on what information DVLA hold, if DVLA don't have a very accurate model your not going to find out anything by doing that, you could get that DVLA info off of the V5 document without needing to look on the auto trader web site. DVLA rarely have an accurate model on their system, its likely they will just have it as a Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi without any specifics about the Bhp. Also RAC vehicle checks are just £5 via www.rac.co.uk, if you have any problems doing the check you might even get to chat to me I still say you would be best off speaking to a main ford garage/dealer. (How sad am I? I'm not even in work and I'm giving people advice about buying cars )
-
I expect if you give the Registration and Chassis Number to a Ford main dealer they would have access to the manufacture records to find out what specific version it is...

Sounds like an awesome plan Mike. You will have a great time! Travelling around Europe is overlooked by most UK people, its right there and instead we go to Thailand/Australia/New Zealand, in turn all the Aussies and Kiwi's come over to Europe 3 months should be enough time but it might be an idea just to go with the flow and take as long as it takes. Also have more money than you think you need saved in your account just in case! Oh, and and get a credit card for back up! Your going to save a shed load of money by camping and sleeping in the car, you can also live off of Pasta/Pesto/Tuna but you will get fed up with it quickly. For hostels use hostelworld.com and hostelz.com to get reviews and make bookings as you go. Would love to join you but a big trip around Europe riding the trials bike isn't my thing, I would be happier going around without a bike.

His Anti Deng forks snapped Actually, the old Fatty forks used to be mine, how many parts of you acquired from other people Fred?

Your first pointless thread titled "Guy Trouble Thread" got closed. So you open up a new thread with the same title then make up a load of crap story (That you so originally copy, paste and edit from the Girlfriend Thread) I see no reason why you opened a new thread when its blatantly obvious that you have no real problem with guys...

6*9's are evil unless you are on a budget and also have a smallish boot space. I swear by JBL / Infinity for budget speakers though.
-
Your meant to put the surround sound around you, not all in front of you... And putting a sub anywhere other than the floor is a crime...

According to my cousin who is in Sussex Police there were plans to block the M25 not so long ago, haven't heard of it happening yet though...

Not stupid what so ever. Travel is the best thing I have ever done! I'm currently saving for my next trip! I read an article in Singletrack Magazine about a bloke who quit his well paid job, bought a camper van and went around Europe with his bike. He ended up working as a MTB guide in the Alps somewhere and it completely changed his life. Anyway, if you are certain about taking your bike I would say look at somewhere in The Alps, Canada, USA or New Zealand I wouldn't worry about travelling, you will meet loads of awesome people and have a great time! Just leave with a basic plan of where you want to visit and go with the flow! For hostels use Hostel World EDIT - I'm assuming you want to do trails/DH/freeride/dirt jumping and not hoppy trials

Worked for me not too long ago, now I get the error as above, me think Tom is playing with the code...?

Maybe someone should write a letter to see if they have an amusing reason why they didn't choose a mini?

Salisbury trials is dead I'm on a break at the moment and enjoying things in life that don't involve bikes with no seats. I never thought I would be one of those guys who used to ride trials but then quit, I know deep down that I will be back even if I'm not riding trials as regularly as I used to. In fairness to the Salisbury trials scene, most of us still have bikes, they just don't get ridden anywhere near as much as they used to! The most appropriate quote for this thread from one of the best Mountain Bike films of all time: "There are so many kids who get to a certain level and stop...You know? They see; car, beer, girls. What are you doing? There's car, beer, girls and bike. Not just the three, you can have four!"
