  1. To be honest Ali,4months is very short period of time.
  2. Compared to real pro riders he doesn´t go big really. +There are differences from person to person in muscle fibers types, so someone can get away with no gym training at all and still go relatively big, someone can´t. But gym can help both of them.
  3. Well yeah 8kg is deffo heavier than 7,5kg comp bike lol, still something I would classify as superlight. Gilles for example uses carbon forks on his training bike too...Back to the smith vs free weights question, It is harder for someone who doesn´t use this machine very often to use the same amount of weight he uses with freeweights, no two ways about it. As isitafox said, bar moves in straight line and that isn´t optimal for pretty much every exercise, maybe behing the neck shoulder presses. If you always use it, of course you will accustom to it.
  4. Please explain how benching on smith would work your arms. Also, heavy bike feels different so it would change your technique too,if anything you should be heavier, not the bike. I haven´t seen a single pro riding heavy bike for training, a lot of them do some heavy lifting though...
  5. He doesn´t want adapters and he already tried heatsink ones, read the topic before posting,geez...
  6. If you have power cage, yes. Most of the gyms don´t though, while I´m yet to see a gym without smith machine.
  7. I would put it this way, if you don´t have a spotter(or good spotter), you can´t really train hard enough with free weights because after few workouts you will be well aware of what could happen if you fail to finish rep on bench or squat. In that case, smith comes in handy and you can really push yourself to the limit while staying safe. Of course you shouldn´t rely entirelly on it, but using it for the heaviest sets where failure could cause an injury is very smart idea.
  8. I think it started with an Marc Caisso interview and it should be somewhere on the vimeo as well. Edit:this one? http://vimeo.com/26594431
  9. I agree even though I realize more people could mean better parts for riders as it would be actually worth it for big manufacturers to produce something for trials. But that´s the only advantage I could come up with lol.
  10. It´s all nice and great that this guy does it for Kenny, but that doesn´t mean it´s neccessary for everyone no matter what hub/spokes combination they use.
  11. Well after I found 1pic of m6 I can imagine m5 being quite scary Mine were too and 1,5mm of material per side seemed too little hmmm. If you can get m6 ones easily, your idea of trying them first could be the best
  12. Original m6 or machined down from m8? Maybe normal m6 are thinner in that part in the same way as m8 are, in that case I would be affraid too I haven´t found any pics of m6 so can´t tell if that´s the case. Only thing I can tell is they feel miles stiffer than heatsink adaptors.
  13. Why wouldn´t you trust it Ali? M8 ones like stan for example are only 6mm dia in the thinnest part where the thread ends, which is where the most stress of braking goes to or isn´t it? So I think they could only strip easier, but not break easier. If they do strip, I will just helicoil it like I would with all 4bolt mounts...
  14. If you use booster, I wouldn´t be affraid(in fact I´m not lol)
  15. Not long really but can´t see why it shouldn´t last, the worst thing which could happen is stripping thread on the frame and even that seems unlikely to me as the thread size is bigger and also longer than bolts I have used on adaptors, so overall surface should be almost the same. Ali C used to use it for quite some time I believe, so I´m sure he will chime in once he is around
  16. Size of the brake mount could be the problem, on my frame there wasn´t enough space to fit M8 posts, so I had to machine them down to M6...Then you have to get some metal plate or piece of carbon and drill 2holes in it,1for the pivot and one to secure the vee´s spring. That´s pretty much it, not very hard to do and difference in stiffness is very noticable.
  17. So they posted pic of sky3 with final version, can´t see much really though lol
  18. Second sidehop wasn´t only big,it´s the take off and how far that roof is what makes it really impressive to me
  19. Aurelien is known for his style and smoothness, so even gilles wouldn´t make it look this easy...But for some reason stuff that I could do doesn´t impress me, I need something way out of my league for that(like the second one).
  20. First sidehop many people here would manage, second one though...
  21. IMO it´s pretty nice, forks look very good to, hopefully they are closer to old aprebic forks than recent ones in terms of strenght and longevity. With black cages it would be pretty much perfect.
