  1. Hey boys.... Well...I officially got hold of THE last Inspired frame in the country today! Theyre seriously selling like CRAZY. He had 6 in stock not a week ago. Theyre all gone, so if you cant get hold of one its due to me now lol So, I have my other bike up for split here http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....howtopic=137095 Now Im trying to -extremely quickly!- source parts for the Inspired. I think the headset will (from what ive been told) be a straight swap over? So thats a Cane Creek headset, near new- sorted Im transfering over the crank arms (Tensile 175mm), have some mint new pedals lined up back home and may get a seat from here or tarty. Just wondering whether to keep my onza seatpost for the moment then maybe sell the seat back home or throw in the bin. Eh. Thinking I'll keep the rear Magura HS33 (BUT NEED PADS URGENTLY PLEASE! Citrus ones or something similar if you boys have any?) and Ive been recommended to get a Hope Mono Trial front brake. The Magura front is as new with fresh bleed with Magura Blood and proper kit plus brand new pads due to the previous owner not liking them being so "bitey" and drowned them in WD-40... I know... i know.... Ive bought a bar and stem from Bionic Balls (cheers mate ) but will need a much lighter stem as its more of a DH one If anyone here has or knows of any 2nd hand Hope Mono Trial front brakes going at a fair price please let me know as Im chasing one and may just sell the Magura. What BB would you guys recommend for the Inspired? Ali from Tarty was advising getting an ISIS Truative Gigapipe bb. Theyre 48pounds but require a special tool to install which is 15pounds. He said the bearings in the SKF BFR-600 which is now reduced to 58pounds from 85pounds has FAR better bearings in it, is a bit heavier, but runs the risk of breaking the lockring if overtightened as theyre only Aluminium. Not steel (which I personally think they should be). This doesnt require a tool, only common sense when using a flat-blade screw driver and gently- and evenly!- tapping it up roughly to its required torque. What do you boys think between those two? Id rather buy here and now. At least if the boys at Tarty have the tool for the BB they'll just install it for me to help me out. I need to know by tomorrow though as I need to call him back and tell him what Im doing with the parts Im after. Also thinking of going for a Hope Pro 2 rear hub and building a rim. And Transition front hub + build a rim. People with 24's seem to go for Atomlab rims. Ive been told a High Roller 2.7 rear tyre are fantastic and very streety but are great for trialsy stuff too and a Moto Digger 2.1 front.
  2. Hey mate Here are some pics Im actually splitting it right now in the for sale section http://www.trials-forum.co.uk/forum/index....howtopic=137095 Here are some pics of the bars though: The white stuff inside the stem is the original factory lubricant. Not scratching or damage
  3. I have a Pro 2 in my Marin Mount Vision. Works BEAUTIFULLY well. No need to even yell for people to move, they hear me coming a mile away Love it. Sounds tough and means business
  4. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA I could NOT stop laughing all the way through that! Most stuff in Aus is poisonous! We smash first work out what it WAS....after -if we care. No, youre both incorrect. I actually posted my reply before reading yours and the other one that youve replied to. Its a Huntsman. I didnt know you got them here. I thought they liked warmer climates? Yeah, kill those suckers quickly. Read my reply down the bottom and check out the links We have spiders called Hunstman Spiders which can get as big (leg span) as you open hand. THEY scare the crap out of you because they move so fast! My mate -LOL poor guy- left his helmet out the back when he was younger. He put it on and started riding.... All we heard was a scream as he stacked it. One came out of the helmet and ran over his face. These spiders are STUPID too! Thats the worst thing about them, they run AT you or if scared try to hide. So....screaming....open mouth....you get the picture.... not cool. They dont kill you, but have a very painful bite. Seriously, look at the size of these! They come out in summer mainly. Even in the suburbs http://images.google.com.au/images?hl=en&a...=1&ct=title Theyre usually brown or grey and furry. Scare the crap out of you. Its so interesting though watching the battle they have with our hornet. We have big orange hornet wasps. Theyre the tank of wasp species. They try to attack the spider. Its great to watch! The spiders usually (outside of course) hiding in grass and the wasp is trying to sting it. The spider rears up and tries to defend itself but the wasp just keeps going till its tired or till it can sting it. Once stung, the spider is paralysed....but alive. The wasp will drag it up the wall/fence to its little nest/hiding place and lay its eggs in it. The spider stays alive the entire time to provide fresh food for the lavae which then hatch and eat it alive, from the inside out. Crap way to go really Theres one that got the spider: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/141/3836604...b480d3a.jpg?v=0 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3527/345902..._0c8e69ec5b.jpg http://farm1.static.flickr.com/164/4385312...85bd989.jpg?v=0 (up the wall we go) Heres a vid of the fight Now everything that tickles your skin you'll think is a spider or large something that will bite you. Sorry bout that boys!
  5. Nice find Davey! They didnt show him enough though . Could watch that blokes skills all day to be honest
  6. How much for that? Im seriously after light weight parts. I cant see my 74kgs snapping a stem, so not caring too much about looking like a show bike
  7. Cheers mate Was looking and recommended to buy a hope mono trial front brake.... Was also recommended a Chris King rear hub, Middleburn cranks, Atomlab or Sun Ryno lite rims. Cant work out whether to go for front free wheel or just a chris king rear. Spoke to Tim @expressivebikes.com and he said a front free wheel is far cheaper than a chris king rear, but may not last as long. Due to the price of them though, they can be swapped for a new one around 3-4times before a chris king will give up. What are peoples thoughts on FFW vs Rear?
  8. Hehehe Thanks for the reply anyway. Trying to work out what these parts are worth. Im chasing really light weight components then for the Inspired, so maybe I should get rid of the Tensile Crankset perhaps? I'll need light weight pedals like the wellgo mag1 or dmr V12s, lightweight stem (what angle would you recommend for the Inspired?) The Onza stem is 110mm and 10degree. Danny Macaskill runs a 90mm 10degree. Light weight front brake (Hope mini trial?) and rims. What rims/hubs (wheelset) would you guys suggest? Front free wheel or rear? I may keep the Magura rear brake. No point selling stuff if I can reuse it and these are in perfect condition apart from the adjustment thread stuffing itself when I reefed the brake too hard ( so would need a new adjustable lever blade also
  9. Right. Im heading back to Aus and sending my stuff back in roughly a week. I have one mountain bike im sending back. I just bought an Onza Woodstock 26". Problem is I want to get an Inspired. Question is, do I sell the Onza complete- or split (I dont care, which ever gets the most) or send it home with the rest of my gear on a slow shipping freight method and try to sell it in Perth, Western Australia where trials is pretty-well non existant. I really want to get an Inspired and get to 24" street riding, more than pure trials. I met up with some boys on the weekend for a london ride/meet and bought some Diety 2" riser bars and stem from Bionic Balls to make my Onza feel more "Streety". All who tried it felt it made a big difference. What would you guys do in my position? This is it here: http://www.supercycles.co.uk/site_details.asp?ProductID=592 retail £1050 Instead (unfortunately) of Chris King hubs, it has DDG hubs. Echo rear rim (double walled), Onza Hog front rim. Planet X pedals. Good things.... I bought a brand new cassette, brand new chain, spare new tyres (Maxxis Minion 2.5 rear and 2.35 front, both 2 ply Super Tacky's) freshly bled Magura HS33 rear and freshly bled Louise front (both done with proper Magura bleed kit) with brand spanker pads on the Louise also. It still has the Onza 30" carbon bars and lightweight stem. The bars sell alone on Tarty for £64 Its basically a new bike when I bought it, let alone the extra Ive done and its a shame to see it go and lose money after owning it 3weeks but I dont ultimately think its what I'd use for riding in between my XC and the Inspired I'm chasing. If I split hopefully I can get enough money to fund some of the build for the Inspired. If not I'd take it home and try selling it on ebay.com.au or something. Its just more stuffing around. Wouldnt want the frame to go to waste if people only want the parts on it. If anyone knows of a complete Inspired please tell me. If its just parts, or what you'd recommend for a setup, please tell me too. I want light weight parts though, which I know cost a little more... Phil still hasnt gotten back to me about his black Inspired frame he advertised. Any help is appreciated as well as wisdom on a setup. Cheers boys Wes
  10. UPDATE Meeting at Kings Cross Station 12:30pm today. See you there!
  11. So whats the meeting place and time? say 11am Kings Cross station near the road and we go to where-ever from there? Let me know Gonna bring the camera with me to get some vids of you boys in action for you. Been looking forward to this for the last 2 weeks, so I hope youre all still able to join us Cheers
  12. Right So wheres the meeting point boys? Kings Cross somewhere? Hoping you all go well with those of you having their last day of exams and that tomorrow is great stress relief for you If anyone has any spare HS33 brake pads or selling any, plus any really sharp decent pedals, can you let me know what you have and/or bring them as I'm struggling for grip a fair bit with these Planet X pedals. They just dont bite into my shoes, theyre not sharp enough Looking forward to trying out any handlebars and stems too if anyones got any spares they can bring down Hoping I get my new front brake pads tomorrow, which shouldve come yesterday. Need to be able to stop faster than I currently can My number is 0794 22 95762 If you guys can throw some numbers up on here or PM me them incase I dont find you, it would help me out Cheers Wes
  13. Do it mate Only if its even for a couple of hours
  14. I have an Oregon Scientific ATC2K for sale if youre interested? It only been used a few times. Has straps and clips etc to mount to your helmet, bars, frame etc. Uses 2 AA batteries and a 2Gb SD card. I'll get a link to mine. Audio is poor due to it being water proof. Its tiny, very compact. http://www.actioncameras.co.uk/ATC2K_Actio...CFQdN5QodVEyYyg I paid over 100 for it new Here it is in action check out the other under water vids etc underneath that vid too. You can here things, just not good enough quality. More so for filming then adding a song too like most people do.
  15. Ok cool, so thats 4 of us so far Spread the word, be great to take over some places Yes, youre right. I shouldnt have said "All". Was actually thinking of undergrounds as most of them to go through there, not overlands. And yeah, I have to ride to my overland to get to KC Skoze, take the day off mate. Call in sick or something!
  16. Cheers mate Yeah, Kings Cross is fine for me. At least that way everyone can get there as all overlands go through Kings Cross
  17. Where's Vicky park? You dont mean Victoria (station area) park or something do you? Chalk farms worse for me to get to than London eye Id say Anything east to west is a nightmare. North to south is easier for overland if that makes things easier?
  18. Hey boys Its something Ive been asking a few of you personally via PM's regarding meeting up to check out the 24" scene. I would really love to have a ride -if some of you dont mind- of some 24" bikes of yours as I was super keen on buying an Inspired. I really wanted to feel the geometry and setup compared to the current Onza Woodstock 26" I recently bought. Im wanting to get into street more than trials, so a 24" would be better suited to me than the 26" Id love to meet up with as many of you as possible this Sat, what ever time. I live near Turnpike Lane tube station which is North East London. Some of you lads live in Essex and Ive heard of one meeting point near London Eye, but this is a decent trek for me as I need to ride to all the overlands. Its not a huge hassle if thats where everyone normally meets, I'll just have to allow more time to get there. If you are interested, please reply back here. I'd love to meet up with you guys! It has to be this weekend though as my time here in London is very short now and we'll be leaving back to Aus. My partner Julie is coming back over from Aus next friday June 5th, so I'd say we're pretty busy catching up with our friends and celebrating a belated birthday of mine etc 29yo!! !! I look 21yo though so its alright hehehe ;-P Oh, also. Some of you may have spare 2" riser bars and 15degree stems lying around. Im chasing some to replace my current trials setup on my bike as its holding me back a bit from streety stuff. If you have any can you please let me know and possibly bring them down with you if you can make it? I dont want steel bars though please. Trying to keep the weight down as is Let me know guys Cheers
  19. Cheers mate. I did write in my thread about the difference in geo/lengths of the frame compared to the Inspired. I really need to try a higher stem and riser bars at this stage in the mean time Also need to order new front pads as the wd-40 that the previous owner sprayed them with is still coming through the pads, or the piston is leaking. Im praying its not the piston, but i'll have to order new pads in the mean time The bike still feels heavy to me. Think I need to switch to a single speed rear cog and swap the front also as its 22t
  20. Yeah I know. Read my other thread about having to buy the Poo-brown frame as an ABsolute last resort.... theres a good reason theyre in stock of those and not of the other two colours....
  21. The link didnt work but I'll be able to find it. This is the next part Im trying to sort in the mean time between bikes. Ive been speaking to Bionic Balls and he's saying to swap the bars/stem setup to suit more streety riding which I agree with as do most people. Thats the next step. I need to find a set of bars and stem (used) to put on the setup to try. Yeah, I know. Everything does as soon as its not brand new anymore. Its just the way it is unfortunately. Yes, the Onza is standard spec. I'd be getting rid of the bars and stem and I saw the price of the bars on tarty. One of the best and most sort after too apparently. I dont have that front rim or the Chris King hubs. They mustve been changed along the way. It has DDG hubs. They feel great though. Both running true. Cheers, its only the different rim brake types I need to research. Have been setting up my Avid Juicy 7's on the XC and theyre perfect. Changed the front and rear discs from 160mm to 180mm rear and 203mm front. At top speed one finger-reef of the front and I'll blend in with the bitumen. Rear- HS33, Standard pads, smooth rims (roughened them up with sand paper to bed them in as well as the pads. I think Ive stripped the adjustement thread on those though by pulling on the lever too hard when practicing rear wheel hopping) Probably need a new lever/assembly also. I have Louise front disc I disagree with the water comment. Ive been building cars for the last 12 years with different brake setups, pads/rotors/master cylinders etc and there is absolutely no gain in putting water on them either before or after use, when bedding the pads in. Car brakes (apart from the obvious ABS) work exactly the same as our hydraulic bike brakes. Any lubricating solution (even water which dries) will not help bed the pads in on a disc setup. It cant possibly. You need to bed them in with how theyre going to be when theyre at their optimum which is dry. Read a hydraulic disc brake manual and it will say nothing about water being used. It would if it was for best results. The way to bed pads in is to gain as much speed as is safely possible (remembering that theyre almost as good as useless until bedded in!) and brake as hard as you can. Around 10 solid hits of this style (riding as hard and fast as possible and yes hills help, and braking as hard as possibe) will bed them in the most part. Continual riding/braking will do whats left until they come up to 100%. Just remember thats for XC and bikes where you can get speed. Trials, obviously you cant so you'd have fairly soft pads (softer than XC-higher speed bikes) as softer pads are needed to bed in quickly and not have as much of a working life as say a XC pad. The rotor is 180mm on the Louise. I'll try to get new, softer pads for the front. Theyre useless. Ive bled both front and rear setups also and I know exactly what Im doing with disc brakes and bleeding. I have written a large brake bleeding "How To" section on Maguras on another site here: http://www.observedtrials.net/vb/showthread.php?t=37774 Yeah thanks mate. Would love to meet up with people today/tonight actually (Tuesday 26th May) if anyones up for it? I'd like to check out your bars and stem too please, so reply to my PM Thanks mate
  22. Interesting. Ive just looked up the specs for the Inspired Frame geometry. Inspired Geometry (with Echo Urban fork, sold separately) Wheelbase: 1040mm -(Onza 1060mm) Chainstay Length: 385mm - (Onza 410mm) BB Rise: 35mm (approximately equivalent to 10mm rise on a 26" bike) -(Onza no idea how to work this one out ) Head Angle: 73 degrees -(Onza, fairly lazy apparently, may be much the same) Reach from centre of BB shell to centre top of head tube: 650mm (25.5") -(Onza 620mm) Would still love an Inspired though.
  23. Hi all. A lot of you know my situation. Im Aussie, not here for much longer (matter of weeks now) and I recently purchased an as new Onza Woodstock 26". Ive just decided for my style of riding that it isnt best for me as I want more of a street style bike/setup. Hence Ive been chasing an Inspired Fourplay full bike or frame to build up Now, my predicament is that time and money are against me now, as is lack of Inspired Fourplay fully setup bikes for sale and/or even a frame. One of the boys (Rich) still hasnt replied to me about his black frame he had for sale. It looks like Im going to now have to buy a poo-brown frame new from Tarty which I didnt want to do due to funds and the disgusting dsigusting colour. Seriously, Im going to have to get it sprayed I loath it that much. I wouldnt even be able to look at it. Cant stand brown ANYthing. Just the colour shouldnt even exist in my book. lol I need advice on parts and good quality gear (some new and most second hand) so I can get a rough cost of what Im looking at. Im also wondering whether to sell my Onza Woodstock http://www.supercycles.co.uk/site_details.asp?ProductID=592 Its £1,050 retail which I probably wouldnt get what I want for it even with the stuff Ive done to it since buying it 2 weeks ago which sucks so much....or instead, split it for parts to put on an Inspired frame and sell the rest. So... advice is needed from you all please! This Onza has the Smart Guy front forks. Ive read (if im not correct please tell me!) the Inspired's use a 26' fork anyway? Would you all recommend I split this bike up and use what parts I can from it instead of trying to save it or sell it? Ive also read on a review that the Onza Smart Guy forks are super light, super stiff and super strong. Theyre the best they make apparently ( ?) Im concerned that they arent long enough though as theyre 230mm long, the headset is 145mm in length and I only have 75mm of stem length left sticking up from the top of the headset. Will I have enough length to use on an Inspired frame? The Inspired site says "frame for use with standard 400-410mm forks". Im just concerned with the length of the Onza's stem. I dont think Ive got as aggressive an angled stem as needed (maybe its only 5 or 7 degrees) and the handle bars are super wide and have no rise on them so I wont be using either of those. I have tensile cranks which are 175mm and good pedals. Ive read from the forum chats that any of these lengths are fine and that many of you are happy with the 170-175mm length. I have Magura freshly bled rear rim brakes, Magura Louise freshly bled up front (i think theyre useless though and dont like them personally. I need them to bite way harder than they do. Might try a different pad combo prior to upgrading though) Id really like to discuss properly with someone as to what I should do and how I should set this bike up. I only want to do it once, so I want to do it right! I also want to get hold of spares to take home with me to Aus. I'd be chasing full wheel setups, smaller chainring (currently its 24t with brand new 8 speed cassette on the back) Cheers everyone Appreciate the help Wes
  24. Well boys.... after reading this entire thread and it nearly being 3am now....I want an Inspired too! I should probably sell the Onza Woodstock Ive just bought, built up and will not want to ride as I'll be thinking of an Inspired Im new to trials/street, but im ....ok .... at XC and quite capable of getting my balance quickly. I had three rides on the new Onza and manualled straight away. It took me buying a rear Rubber Queen to get the rear wheel hop down pat on the day I put it on and the rest is flowing fast. That bouncy rear tyre made all the difference, as did putting my old XC rim (light weight) and tyre. Presta tube on to lighten the front end. Im still getting used to the geo of the Onza (26") and will have the manuals down by tomorrow. Had to take a day off today (thursday). Was in a WORLD of pain from never using the muscles required for trialsy techniques before LOL. That was on wednesday playing for a few hours in the arvo getting rear hops down, bunny hops (always sucked at!), jumps at the skate park (never done in my life) but feeling more confident ever day (lol 3rd day) now on lifting up HARD to get max height. I really think I'd be best to have something chuckable like a 24" though now.... Shame after the money I just spent on the Onza and getting spares etc. Its basically new. Shame (. I want an Inspired now though Now, please understand... I wasnt saying all that ^^ above to sound up myself, better than anyone else or ANYTHING like that, Im just not that sort of bloke. Back to the Inspired- It says theyre out of stock till August.... Im Aussie and going back to Aus very soon but wanted to buy one before I left and ship it back with my other gear.... Are the geo's of the previous Inspired's the same as the latest current design? Theres a second hand one on here for sale. It looks like its had a rough life though. Any thoughts? Also, I've PM'd 3 of you boys regarding these bikes. I really want to have a ride on one to see how they feel. Are any of you boys in London? Im not working atm and VERY eager to have a ride if anyone is gracious enough to help me out? Im 28yo and respectful of other peoples bikes and gear in general, so I wouldnt be doing anything stupid or extreme, but we just do not have these bikes back in Aus so its my rare chance to pick one up before I leave. Look forward to hearing back from you all! Cheers guys Wes
