  1. You'll be able to pick up a decent spec 2nd hand bike from on here for that money, so will just be down to whats available at the time. Either that or build one up slowly over the next few months or so as money comes available!
  2. Will all depend on your budget at the time to be honest!
  3. Plus buying a mod that takes a 20" rear wheel is pointless as your gonna end up spending more money in the long run, get one with a 19" from the start!
  4. Buy it, doesn't matter if it only lasts you a couple of months, at least its something to get the basics picked up on and it doesn't matter if you trash it!

    Films!?

I did the same, reminds me of the Firefly family house! Anyone seen House of 100 Corpses or the sequel The Devils Rejects? More quality gorefests!

    Films!?

For a bit of quality 80's B movie genius it's gotta be Class of Nuke'em High, so brilliantly bad! And for something current, Kick Ass. Watched it last night with a few cans and my god its good!
  7. Exactly what it says it is, when you get a grinder and grind the face of the rim. Some people do it to roughen up the surface and give the brake more to bite onto.
  8. What tyre are you thinking of using? Never heard of a 2.7" tyre myself!
  9. I know I'm just feeling lazy! Sat at work an got nowt else to do so could go and get it out my car and check, or I could stay in here eating rice crispies and drinking coffee till someone tells me!
  10. Just checking as it says on tarty these can only be used on a frame where the mounts are square on to the rim as they don't use the plastic washer thingy so only adjust up and down rather than 360 degrees.
  11. You'd probably be better off doing that to be honest, once you're validated you can have a good shop around. I just got a 26" frame that had a crack for £20, got the crack welded up for nowt and had it powdercoated for £30 and it's like brand new for very little money. Got some 2nd hand forks off here as well for £45, just goes to show that it can be done even on the tightest of budgets!
  12. Wanting to order some Echo TR clamps for my Python build but I'm not sure if they will work or not, can anyone advise??
  13. I was gonna suggest goin to a butchers or farmers an ask to use the hook they use to weigh meat! Only sayin this though cause inlaws are farmers, will be doin mine next weekend hopefully!!
  14. I know what your sayin matey, but an even better idea is get the kids to join you! My 2yr old keeps tellin me he wants a bike and a helmet and some special gloves like daddy so he can bounce, balance trainer bike gets ordered tomorrow!!!! And as for lookin like a tit, I started losin my hair at 19 so when people see a bald 27 year old riding like I do they give me some funny looks an I feel better for it, shows it ain't just the kids who can cut it mehewd!!!
  15. Lovin it, saw your post about the forks a few weeks ago an was dubious but that does look very nice! Reminds me of my old integra type r when I was gonna get a carbon fibre spoiler an just have the top of it painted so you could see the lovely carboness (real word?!) but not look out of place! Would love a trip to oz myself for a bit of sunny, chilled out riding, especially on that!
  16. The company was called Garie Bevan Powder Coating and the colour on their website is 5003. Used them as they're just down the road but they do lots of big jobs from all over the country. I was a bit worried bout the colour as picked it off the chart then checked on their website after and due to pc screen limitations it looks nothing like the real thing.
  17. Never too old, Im 27 and just got back into it after 9 years off!
  18. Here's a pic of how she looks now, bit dodgy as taken on my phone but you get the idea. Just need to sort 2 of the threads on the brake clamps but got a temporary fix for now. Big thanks to Muel for the frame an bars, JohnyMilton for the forks and Ben Travis for the stem!! Got my brakes through for the Python today as well so just gotta order some tyres an sort a bashring and that'll be built for next weekend!
  19. YES!!! Got her built up thank god an can I say how awesome it feels to ride! Unbelievable how different yet easier/better it feels riding something that is a proper trials frame. Will get some pics up later as I'm on my phone at the mo but I reckon it looks well nice, look forward to everyones comments later!
  20. Might take it new mills if my dad can't clear it with the wire brush. May be able to blag it free as Sams married to my cousin!
  21. Well I was right, can't get the bottom bracket in for love nor money, starts going in and after about half a turn it gets immensely tight so don't wanna force it in case I strip the thread. Won't be gettin built up today! ARSE!! As for the cost, I spoke to the boss when I picked it up and he knocked it down to £30 for the hassle I've had and said if I take them anything again it'll get done as a priority but don't think I'll bother with them again!
  22. This is true, to be honest I've only dealt with tarty as they tend to give great service and advice!
  23. Well statistically doing that would mean you've just spent £170 more than the comp for basically the same spec. Have you had a search on here to see if anyone's got either of them and commented on how they ride? Comp 2009 Onza Pro 2010
  24. The brakes are really the main difference other than the alloy the frames are made from. I personally would pick the 2009 model. From my experience reading on here and riding myself I find a magura on the rear with a hope hydraulic disc on the front gives the best braking performance, others may disagree but thats just my opinion. Now if you get the 2009 model I would think you have the better setup, not only performance wise but also for upgrading. It's hard to put it in words and keep it simple, my only concern is the Onza cable discs as I've never heard from anyone who runs them so can't comment on how well they perform.
  25. I find getting it powder coated tends to be the best option, just had my Zenith done today and I've had a few old trail bikes done in the past. You get a stronger finish which will hold up to scratches and scuffs a lot better than a spray job as it doesn't usually take much to get that back to bare metal! Edit: My stock cost me £30 although I had a fiver knocked off for them mucking me about!
