Got my chain on the python this afternoon and had my first ride on it (only round the corner from my dads work) and I'm not sure what to make of it. It feels nice to ride but I just don't know what the best way is of getting up things as I've always ridden stock so usually half pedal stuff, can anyone give me some pointers as to what I should be trying as there's no one round here that rides trials at the moment so I can't watch someone else!

The pics on page 9 of this thread have made me reconsider trials, I will never be good enough or brave enough to attempt half of that stuff. I resign!

Is it just a v brake frame? You may struggle to get some brakes that'll fit with a rim that wide as I was gonna get one for my heavy tools but there would have been no way to get my maguras to fit on. Ended up with an Echo TR and I still had to do some major fannying around to get by brakes on! As for the middleburns thats fair enough, get a hope, it'll be the last hub you ever buy probably!

Well I got the echo mounts and the brake blocks only have just about half managing to touch the rim, think I'll have to swap them for some that use the plastic washers or the TNN ones with more adjustment! EDIT: I've just realised I'm talking crap as I haven't put the chain on yet and tensioned it so the wheel is in the slackest position! This is what happens when you've never owned or ridden a mod before!!

I'd agree, either get a hope or swap to a FFW setup. As for the Urban rims, what frame have you got? If you currently use sun rims on a dmr hub I'm assuming its not a recent trials frame??

Here's a very short vid of me messing about getting used to my zenith after not being able to ride it since I built it up on saturday thanks to the awful weather! Must admit it feels very nice to ride so should hopefully start improving a bit more now, although I've built up my mod this afternoon so that'll be getting a bit of attention now!

Well happy, got my stuff for the python through from tartybikes this afternoon so I managed to get that built up today. Just gotta get the chain shortened as can't find the chain tool at my dads so will go at it with a grinder tomorrow and get that fittied to see how well she rides. Here's just a couple of pics I took in the stairwell, chucking it down outside so couldn't take em out there, only dodgy bit in my eyes is the white rear maggie with the lever upside down but it was bought as a temporary solution till I can afford a new one. Other than that I'm well happy, got a +20 adaptor for the front disc as well so just gotta decide which bike deserves the bigger brake!!

Now that is a bit harsh!!
