You need to recess them for the pads to fit into, otherwise the material is just gonna come straight off unless you have some uber glue/ some other kind of attachment method

Nitromors for stripping it, wear gloves or just avoid getting it on your skin

Trialtech foams are amazing grips, I've used rubber and other foam grips in the past, but nothing has ever felt as good as the trialtechs
