  1. the surly cog looks as though it would be great, as it is very wide and so less likely to dig in. i'd go for one of those. i was using a normal cassette cog on an alloy driveshell and it dug in. then when i went to change the cog i squashed my driveshell! (big thanks to adam@tartybikes for sorting it out for me! - he tells me it was extremely hard work!) i have now upgraded to a steel driveshell and am still using a normal cassette cog. also, it depends what gear you are running. i am using 16:14, and you will find that 13t and 14t cassette cogs are probably less likely to dig in as these are wider too(they have a sort of built in spacer, where as 15t upwards do not) that cog looks like it would be a good investment though. Cheers, Tom
  2. yes chris doney is using one at the moment. i had a go on his one just before he left for the world rounds, and it feels quite nice, i wouldnt get one, but its nice! pretty light and flicky too. Tom
  3. i got a standard ck but then squashed the driveshell when trying to get a cog off, as it had eaten into the old alu driveshell, and so upgraded to steel since i needed a new one anyway, and they are £39 from bromley bike, or send it to tart and its £50 for the steell driveshell plus fitting. i dont have a heavy duty axel and dont really see the point at the moment. it will be fine standard, just maybe upgrade the driveshell :P
  4. i run 16-14 at the moment but may change to 16-13, not sure whether to or not...
  5. www.cdtrialsport.co.uk not all of the parts are online yet but there are contact details for chris doney so drop him a line and he can get most things for you. yes the mod revell is still available. also more pics of revells on: www.cdtrialsport.co.uk and www.chrisdoney.co.uk
  6. wtf? how would anyone on here know where it is? is it stolen or have you miss-placed it?!?
  7. shame the magazine now costs £3.95 now though :P but i still get it...phool!
  8. shops are still selling the old style maguras and yes, you can rebleed brakes, with a mini service kit or a local bike shop!
  9. fair enough i suppose that the bigger rims means you cannot get as much rim width, and therefore less tyre profile meaning that it could feel weird. when i say i know because i went from a t-vee to a t-pro, i suppose it may not have felt so weird because i was learning techniques on the t-vee, and developing them on the t-pro, so i may not have really noticed much difference. however i do know that the t-pro sits nicer on the back wheel, but this too could be due to the fact that i was better on the t-pro. like i say, fair enough all to their own! Tom
  10. ok thanks. i wasnt really bothered about the fact that it is silver, but it was that that made me want to know though! better get saving the pennies... although, personally, i love the normal mini and mono mini - the mono trial would just be pimp!
  11. well leverblades are about £15 from crc or cleanbikes a whole lever is about £35 from crc or the whole maggie is now £40!!! bargain. if only they were £40 when i bought my 05 rear brake... i never used to like the 05 design, however now i really like it. the only downpoint is that they 'pull' / snap in half, but (touch wood) everything is fine so far...
  12. in which case the resevoir one is probably a disc, and the louise looking one on the other side may be the 05 magura - as these are based on the louise lever. out of interest, does anybody know what disc benito ros is running on the front, because i think its a hope - maybe stripped back to silver???
  13. ^the hebo trials gloves yeah?^
  14. and the race face ones:
  15. it was a spare pic from when they went to monaco last year - there was an article ages ago about their trip, they just didnt use that pic. thats why they decided to whack it into this months (or may rather) issue. so yes, he would be riding an onza...
  16. it doesn't really make it feel 'odd' because the only difference with a smaller 19" rim is that you have a taller tyre, so the wheel still becomes 20" diameter. it just means that you have the disadvantage of not being able to run as fat tyres on a 20" rim, whereas on a 19" rim you can fit some mahoosive tyres on. i feel this because i made the switch from a t-vee (with 20" back wheel) to a t-pro (with 19" back wheel) and there was not really a different feel from the wheel department - they just rode differently because of the geometry etc. Tom
  17. this is just how similar they really are! *# this picture was posted by 'simon' when the saracen and diamondback first came out somewhen last year #*
  18. the brisa clamp size is 28.6 whereas the double wall clamp size (along with most normal mountain bike bar and stems) is 25.4 i believe.
  19. for people that may need more help... its not very far from the motorway at all - 5 minutes if you know your way. ive actually ridden from fareham back to north boarhunt (near newtown) which shows how not TOO far from the motorway it is - although this takes about half hour :( if you get stuck you could always ring rob doney or terry etc up. robs number is on the banner of chris doney's website
  20. so how did the first day go? i am not going on either days of this weekend, due to the fact that i live a couple of minutes away and get more opportunities to ride at doneys garage than most, so thought i'd give other people a chance to get to ride an amazing spot. we spent all of last weekend setting up ready for this weekend so hope you like it! IMO its bloody amazing there. chris is a lucky bugger! Tom
