  1. Happy new year to all and hope Santa brought you shiny new things? I will attempt to get Scottish dates up asap. It will be five rounds if I can, but Aaron's schedule is pretty busy this year. Already many date clashes, so it will be a bit here and there this year date wise, unless anybody is happy to organise? Killin is confirmed although we have AC/DC gig that day so new date required. Fort William should be ok. Bob Macgregor as an easy one to organise Thinking of going back to Kinlochleven as we have not been there for few years. Aviemore has removed most of the sections and I don't have the time to rebuild it again this year and we also have a date clash. So need a new venue. Anybody got any ideas?
  2. Have you aligned the brake mounts on the frame so it sits parallel with the rotor. Hope do a tool that aligns the caliper mounting face. I do this on all the frames and forks and it makes a huge difference.
  3. Bring the bucket for this weekend. Just way to busy at the moment.
  4. Ah you are broken so I can take the wall ride out. Hope it all heals quick and somebody needs to organise a town ride soon. Will be up your way next week working.
  5. Weather not looking to bad and end of year trophys raedy to go. I will be over mid to late morning Saturday to set up, few beers Saturday night.
  6. Can't remember names but the new Boss, East of Scotland development officer and his boss. Was told that they have no interest at all in trials by someone involved with Scottish cycling and way back they would not even put trials on there website when I started the club. Was not expecting anything other than a bit publicity for Scottish trials. But the bad manners is what gets me. Just had aquick look on British cycling cant see any mention of Jacks achievments.
  7. Having now been to the world champs, there are also a few other countries that get no support from their main (UCI) affiliated bodies. But the ones that do are well funded and organised and you just need to look at the results to see what countries they are. There is a history that I am not privy to with British cycling. I saw first hand there total lack of help in Norway towards the trials team (we even had to get a minor mechanical issue sorted on one of the bikes by a very helpful team truck from another nation) even down right bad manners towards the trials team. These guys have to be seen with the team clothing at all times with the British cycling sponsors, yet get nothing not even manners. What I dont understand is that trials is part of the UCI and even in the name of the event but is not recognised in the UK. I em three people in Scottish cycling to just let them know that for the first time (to my knowledge) a Scottish rider was part of the British trials team and as I expected did not get one reply. I was not even asking for anything just some recognition as a start to them perhaps moving towards trials. I had been told that they would not even have the manners to reply before I sent them. It will be interesting what they do of the back of Jacks double win this year, but I am not holding my breath!
  8. Well done to Jack Carthy. New generation is upon the world trials scene. Maybe this will bring a positive feeling to the comp scene that we can have world class riders in this country to take on the best.
  9. RND5 2014 BM.docEntry forms here. Please let me know who is coming before the event.
  10. Thanks Lewis. Dont know if I can remember how to ride a bike its been that long! Need to get a bike.
  11. 28th is booked for the British schoolboy championship. Snowy day it will be 12th of October has been booked. I will be on site Saturday to set up and camping onsite. Any helpSaturday would be greatfully recieved and a beer handed over as well.
  12. I am still awaiting conformation from Bob Macgregor trials Academy that the date is ok, but hopefully it will be 28th September as that is the only weekend I have till well into October and it will be snowing by then! Sorry for the delay but the new venue I had hoped for has not come through and I am just back after three weeks away. AS soon as I have conformation I will post up entry forms. Please let me know here or by em that you will be attending. End of year awards will be done after the event.
  13. It will be in and the laughter to. Your freefall in the last section was pretty spectacular as well. No video sorry.
  14. Thanks guys much appreciated, I am getting better at these section things. Its just such a great venue and all Glemnore Lodge help makes it better. Buy a proper trials bike again Ben and then scratching such a nice bike wont hurt a much!! Simon has some great video that he is working on.
  15. Hi. not much in edinburgh city centre other than in front of the parliment building or University building. There are a few guys ride street trials around. If it is comp type stuff there are a few spots along the coast at Granton, Portobello and Joppa. I run the Scottish trials club and my boys and a few others ride. We are away for the next few weeks in Spain competing, so PM me and I will get in touch.
  16. Great thanks, another friend coming Friday as well to help.
  17. On Ross's thread about MBUK trials articals when they gave two or even more pages each month to trials, maybe someone who knows someone needs to get the main stream mags to start putting articals back in. Doing that is what I am not good at, so any budding media people out there willing to start the ball rolling and bring trials back on the up. The trials motorbike mag has started doing a monthly artical on bike trials, so its a start. Anybody?
  18. That one picture of Chris above Monaco just scares me. I was with Ross when he got the mags and it was just like Xmas for him! It was funny reading some of the articals, in that its the same crap back then as it is now about comps and people giving up because of abusive riders and bad parents. But nice to read about the evolution of trials over the last ten years or so and so many names, I as a newby had never heard of that were going to take on the trails world. It was interesting listening to Ross talk about these years and how the whole non comp scene was, but with most of these guys still riding today?
  19. The Clan did it last year, all on inspired bikes with street tires, so I am sure you will get on ok. White is for the young riders so Novice it will be. I have tried to ease up on Primary and Novice this year to let new riders get through.Jambo as well? Ben will need to come out of retirement now.
  20. Well done guys , looks great. Just what is needed from another thread here. Will get down when we can, just to busy next weekend.
  21. I am sure somebody in the area would be able to help if that seems to be the way forward? These areas we are talking about would be easier to set up if it has some natural sections to mark out with or without the addition of artificial parts, then a completly artificial area.It just takes an initial visit and a chat to see if the area is viable. Then organise a work day through the club to get started. When I organised enduros and trials thats the way we did it. The trials scene all though very friendly has no CLUB social scene, thats maybe because I am up North and more than likley that everybody is pretty spread out. If the changes are to happen then it will take effort from the current riders and families to help get different venues up and running and not just the same few that do it year in year out. Up to everybody involved in Britian to make the changes and change is a hard thing sometimes, but it usually changes for the better if everybody is involved. We have been involved for four years now and from a personal opinion, last year was great fun as we had new venues and I like that.
  22. Thanks to all the organisers and to the girls who did a sterling job in Barbaras absence. Sections were hard on the first lap after the rain all night, but once dried on the second were perfect. Long drive home due to rubber neckers at a couple of accidents. Maybe no burger van at any event as Neil won.
  23. I have a meeting in a few weeks about that with a huge new bike centre that is being biult on the outskirts of Edinburgh. It is a private company, so there may be issues with costs as trials riders tend not to pay for areas to ride, as by nature of the sport we dont need to, (I have mentioned this and they are still wanting to talk. Here in Haddington we are fund raising for a BMX/Skate park that will have a fixed trials area as well, but not enough for a comp without a lot of extras being put in for a weekend.
