  1. In that case mate im completely stumped. Maybe wind the tpa in before bleeding, or something like that. Maybe its just a case of shit lever? Haha. There were a select few that leaked, maybe yours is a crap one that lets air in? Or instead of using phluid, try royal blood? Could be the fluid its self?
  2. i agree, the old maguras have a WAY better bleed technique, much easier and much faster. BUT.. i had a 2011 magura, and bled it countless times as the brake was on and off every other week. (running hose through stem) i never had a problem. turn the lever so the EBT is up, attatch syringe to use as resevoir, attatch hose a slave end, undo 3 threads, push fluid through, squeeze lever a few times, push more fluid through, squeeze lever a few more times, push some more fluid through, remove resevoir syringe, put ebt drill back, tighten the 3 threads bit, remove slave syringe and put bolt back. should be strong as hell. mine only needed a touch and the brake locked on. i know your not silly but are you sure your pads arent far away from the rim??
  3. high tops work great. or the shimano 40's that danny mac wore in his 1st vid, but i dont think you can get them any more.
  4. ahh yeah spose. im running the new big betty at the moment. i havent had any nobbles ripping off etc but i wouldnt say that it lives up to its reputation to be honest. i run a kenda blue groove tyre before and it had SO much grip! it was insane, it could hold onto anything. the big betty seems to slip abit more. the only problem with the kenda is that its 1.2 kilos instead of 800g for the big betty.
  5. i had a fat albert for downhill use, not sure what compound it was but it was crap. grip was shit, cant say as i ever got a puncture though as i had high tyre pressure
  6. im crap at sidehops but.. if your right foot forward.. sidehop up to the left. if your left foot forward, sidehop up to the right. this lets you get closer to the wall.. imagine theres a line going straight from the centre of your front pedal to the centre of your rear pedal, then get that "imaginary" line parallel to the wall. crouch down fast to pre-load the tyre, then jump up and give a sharp kick in the drive pedal whilst releasing the rear brake. .... i think...
  7. ... yeah i got a whole garage stuffed with as many tools as you can think of, i used to run my hose through my stem so the olive was on and off every other week. the olive is a bit ugly so i've got a spanky new one on the way.. and i've used cable cutters before but they were pretty shit. ill find some sharper cutters to chop them off, i tried wrapping cellotape round it once to get the olive on but it just fell off, anyone tried electrical tape or is it too thick?
  8. ok the ends of my hope hose are freyed, should i shorten it a little? or will that just give me the same problem? if not.. how can i get rid of all the freyed bits? i tried cutters but that doesent really help much. or shall i just buy a new olive and open it up a little before putting it on? if i were to shorten it... how do i do that? big pair of cutters?
  9. cool, im 6 foot and i run a 165mm x 35* trialtech race forged mod stem. just to give you an idea i dont actually know where you can get a big betty, probably off chain reaction cycles but they are like £45! (i have a kenda blue groove super grippy tyre for sale, just incase your interested) yeah you may not need a booster, but i run a super powerful maggy and my frame flex's like a bitch, side note.. i recommend trialtech 4 bolt booster not echo urban - they flex like shit too.. the pedals and bars will last a while, just keep an eye out if you value your face. my bars lasted 4 months of riding, and my mates pedals.. probably about the same.
  10. should have put this in "for sale"
  11. helicoil them? wont one of the helicoils be backwards? or can you get reverse helicoils?
  12. probably not much... too hard to say, depends on condition etc too. and we cant see it..
  13. just a few things with that build.. the echo cage pedals are known for snapping. the echo bars are known for snapping, me and mate both had it in the same place! the forks apparently are snappy, or that may be the magura ones. but they are very flexy your probably going to need a bigger stem if your tall, i.e 6 foot. youll probably need a booster as a rear maggy sucks without one probably need new rear pads to run a grind to get a good brake and a big betty on the back will be good, i run one with no cleareance issues. thats my opinion anyway. hope it helps
  14. Sounds like contaminated pads to me too. Id usually say re-grind rim, sand pads, re-bleed brake and set up again but if thats not working, it could be your setup maybe? Have your slaves been pushed out slightly or no longer square? Or if your rims at an angle and youve had the pads out... Have you put them in upside down? Not saying you dont know how to maintain your bike, just listing off stuff cos it seems like a weird situation.
  15. ohh in that case, when your coming up to the wall, have your backfoot forward (like riding switch) then use your back foot to bring the front wheel up (like a wheelie) at this point your front wheel should be a few inches back from the wall and your front foot (kicking foot) will be coming round to its usual position, when it gets there give a sharp kick with the hip thrust upwards, then extend and let the bike come up.
  16. i would just watch as many "how to" vids as you can, trashzen.com is usually a favourite. or ryan leech vids. its more about your body than your feet, (hard to explain but youll see when you do it) its like your arms are rowing, your hips are thrusting (like sex ) your forward foot is kicking at the same time your brake finger is letting go of the brake. complicated but youll get there eventually its just about tweaking the technique and timing of your actions really. dont know if this will help you or not.. but just keep at it mate!
  17. will a hope +20 adapter fit on echo urban forks? I want to run a 200mm rotor instead of 180mm. Im not 100% sure if these adapters can be used on both front and rear of the bike, or just the rear. sorry if its a noob question lads! Carl.
  18. i suspect that if you cant determine what a freewheel is, its probably not the best idea to try and build a custom trials bike... just saying.
  19. hahah trust you to? laurence mate i know how to do it, i just cant be arsed. anyway you guys wont see me till sunday probs, kenny just email tartys tonight, they will get back to you tomorrow. if they dont know.. we'll try mine out on sunday. its simple really... no need for a massive thread about it.
  20. If i cba to take it off yeah. But it would be just as easy to email tartys and just ask haha.
  21. Can you actually do this? I thought about it but never did it. You got any pics of your tyre if you done it?
  22. wouldnt bother, youll end up with a zig-zag nobble pattern and itll look shite.
  23. whats it like? Laurence.. you have one you pleb!
