Although 7 inch rotor would do you very well, bigger the better, I would recommend an 8 inches if you can get one. Avid BB7 is very good: organic pads or Trialtech/Jitsie pads, Odyssey Linear Cable, and Avid Speed Dial 7 or a Shimano T780 Brake lever would do you good Or Shimano Saint M820 with an 8 inch rotor is what I have now. It is amazing as well. I have another local rider with a Sram Code RSC, which works well too (with a bit more modulation than Shimano Saint)

Tires keep on changing on every photo. Haha What is your favorite so far in the back? Are you running it tubeless with an insert? Did you like the Race King?
-
Which Rimpact Tubeless insert is the best for trials use?

Great! I ordered a original V1 as well! -
I am looking at trying out a tubeless setup for the back of my Norco. Rimpact being one of the few tubeless inserts options for a 26 inch setup. I am confused as to which Rimpact insert would be the best. There are 4 Rimpact inserts available for 26 inch wheels, ranging from the lightest to heaviest. - Rimpact Original V1 - Rimpact Original V2 - Rimpact Pro V1 - Rimpact Pro V2 I am planning on running it with a Continental Race King Protection, which is a lightweight tire at around 550 grams). I know the version that Tarty sells is the original V1 version. Should I go with a heavier insert to account for the lighter rear tire I am planning to use this on?

Speaking of the adaptor, I worked on my bike for the first time after the Saint caliper broke. I took the adapter off and saw this. Look how the two caliper holes are facing a different way. It must have stretched the two caliper holes apart and cracked it. This shimano adapter is garbage indeed. I think I will go back to a 7 inch rotor in the back for now.
-
What adapter do you recommend?

Ahh tire slip on the metal box
-
I watched it many times but not quite understanding what happened there. What made you take the back foot off the pedal in the air?
-
Finding a suitable rear tire for a street trials bike is a struggle. Haha
-
The stem seems very high for the bottom bracket height of the frame. I would love to see how you ride it. These older Echos are getting hard to find in a good condition like this.

Thanks! I have been using v brake for quite a while and I don't think I could go back to Magura now. There is no maintenance! And awesome power too! The front mudguard, I put it on to embrace the "mountain bike" look that the Norco Manifesto frame is going for. And it provides some coverage for the mud and road salt going up, but it is more a protection for the fork stanchions from being too covered in mud. There is no room for a rear mudguard though. Haha

I built a Red Norco a few months ago. I have a bit of OCD with wanting my kit to match so I decided to paint my Echo Mark 5 in the same color.

The manufacturer is right. The 18T will not fit with this chain tensioner. But with some modding, it can work. I took out the roller first roller for the chain wrap since there is enough chain wrap. So I am only using the downward tension. With this set up, it is woring beutifully.

How did the Tannus insert work for you?
-
Well unfortunately, I only found about this information after I had placed an order so it is currently on the way. Haha Probably not worth the shipping cost back to return, so I will at least attempt to install with an 18T sprocket in the back and see what happens. I will update the thread afterwards.

Anyone running these on their trials bikes? I am planning on running this on my street trials hardtail as this is one of the only decent chain tensioners available right now. Colab Chain Tensioner | Reverse Components (reverse-components.com) The only challenge I see is that they specify running these with multispeed chains whereas I was going to go singlespeed chain And it shows the sprocket compatibility of 13-17, but I was going to run it with 18T in the back. Do you think I would be able to run this with an 18T sprocket in the back?
-
I suppose we can ask this question about many old trials companies that have come and gone. Anyone knows what happened to Heatsink? I would love to buy another one of their chain tensioner as there is currently nothing like it on the market. They made great v adapters as well

Looking forward to seeing it done! Not a lot of options for 26 inch straight headtube. Are you looking for period correct or just whatever that fits? I ended up getting a Manitou Circus Expert DJ fork for my trials bike, but Manitou Markhor is also a great option that can be had between $200USD to $300USD. If you are feeling spendy, Rockshox Reba RL lowered to 80mm could be a great option Reba RL | FS-REBA-RL-A6 | RockShox (sram.com)

What a beautiful build. Parts look pretty bombproof. Any reason you chose this over an Hex? It is a shame about the headtube though as a tapered headtube would have been more futureproof
-
That is too bad. He is one of the reasons that inspired me to get me on a trials bike. Best wishes to him whatever he is doing next.

Anyone heard from Neil? It would be great to see something new from him!

Thanks Ross! Thanks for telling me I do not need the spinny gears. I should have listened to you the first time. Haha Riding this is such a nice break from just inch hunting type of pure trials riding I was doing.
