Quickly going back to the redtop corsa vs. scooby part of this thread.... Imprezas in standard guise are not that fast - certainly no where near as fast as people seem to make them out / expect them to be. I'm in no way saying that a redtop corsa is the better car because I'd far prefer a subaru any day but I was pointing out that the corsa certainly isn't a machine to be sniffed at. I once drove my friends XE corsa, half stripped with a F15 gearbox (shorter - limiter in 5th @ 130mph). Coming up a sliproad off the motorway with a Boxter S behind me I joined the roundabout a bit quick. Boxter then comes tearing past me and I pull out behind him and followed him back onto the sliproad, back in the direction we had just come from. He was flat out. When we joined the motorway, the porker was behind us.... After bouncing off the limiter I back off, let him pass and he gives us a thumbs up Andy

  5. I bet he can't flair out off a tree..... Yeah thats right... I said it! No, I can see what you're saying, Hermance is pretty epic along with the other riders from his part of the world but to be fair the brits can hold their own
  6. Strange question but does anyone have a mk1 golf? If so, could you measure the width of the rear arch (leading edge of arch to the tail edge) ........______ ....../............\ ..../................\ ...|<----------->| Like that. Cheers.

    Jackson...

Loads of jokes doing the rounds and I don't really think they should be in this thread. I admit I have laughed at a couple of them but it is a bit wrong. Someone HAS died and regardless of recent bad press he was still somebodys son, brother, dad etc. Of all the 'RIP' threads that have been on here (past forum members and other lost friends and fellow bikers) if someone posted a 'joke' about them there would be a riot. I for one am saddend by the news - there's no disagreement that he was and still is one of the most influential artists in the music industry of all time, backed up by Thriller being the most sold album of all time, consisting of no less than 7 number one singles and with well over 100 million copies sold. Dispite the countless stories, allegations and rumors that have been in the press in recent years this is still a massive loss to the music industry. Condolences to his all his family and closest friends. Rest in peace.
  10. I went this year. Took about an hour to get from havant to the express inn on the A303 - and about 3.5 hours from there to the carpark (which was about a mile from the hotel). My first time at the stones and despite the horriffic traffic, being knackered, the sickening stench of weed, masses of people off their heads, I will be attending next year (but leaving somewhat earlier!) Andy I'll upload a couple of pics if I can be arsed.
  11. Agree with Dave, Mhz is where its at. With the Ghz it seems pashley tried to follow the trend of frame designs of that era but in my opinion it didn't really work. I mean, they do look quite cool but theres just something about it that doesn't seem to feel quite right. The Mhz by comparison is classic (simplistic) british steel frame design at its best. Andy

  17. I've ridden the Phase bikes since before they were even released (I ride for MAD so you might see this as a biased opinion however I'm not) and personally the lower end of the range especially represents very good value for money for beginner riders. Obviously to bring these complete bikes in at such a low cost some of the components admittedly arn't the best however with very few changes they can be excellent. I recieved a 1.2 and straight out the box I changed the rear hub- singlespeed, chain, brake pads and added a grind - thats it. I rode the bike like this for the best part of 2 years of demo seasons and had no problems what-so-ever. I have since changed some components over from my old s*****n MAD bike such as bars, stem, cranks etc, just because I had the parts to hand. I wouldn't claim to be a top rider at all but there are plenty of talented riders using the Phase frames (which are all of identical geo) - the example of Rich on the "lower spec" 1.3 is a particularly good one. I wouldn't expect the frame to hold you back at all - its a great beginners bike which can hold its own against some of the more desireable brands at many times its cost. Like someone has already mentioned - if you're seriously into trials ditch the gears and possibly save for a better rear hub - thats where the biggest impovements can be made. I'd advise going over your bike generally to keep everything well maintained. Even the best stuff can fail if its been put together incorrectly or abused without any maintance. Lastly - keep at it! blaming your bike isn't really an excuse for not being able to do anything. Sure, a high end bike make things a little easier but if you can't do the basics... Those of us that have been riding for some time will agree with me - bikes are waaaayyy more advanced these days. We were all riding xc bikes with the big chain ring cut off not so long ago Have fun! Andy
  18. Top stuff Rich! I need to get my Phase back from Nick! Andy
