  1. Im the luckiest bugger out of all of you then, I have a job as a web designer but with only GCSE grades :P the plan is though for my company to put me through the web specialist plus course, including comptia security, ethical hacking, macromedia products and pretty much everything in all aspects of web design. Looking forward to it already but untill then im gonna be coming back here for resources. stu :shifty:
  2. I reckon your going to get shot in either of the jobs. Reasons for this, journalism your going to release a story that somebody really doesnt want you to and they are gonna shoot you! Police, well if you lock someone up and they have dodgy mates your gonna get shot! Errrm sorry mate nice knowning you :shifty: stu :P
  3. Now now danny, why couldnt you of been that helpfull to start with (N) I had to sit there searching the net between perl scripts, cgi, and php trying to understand them along with trying to understand why the mailto: method wasnt working and you had the simplest solution all along! You just wanted to see me sweat a little. I shall PM you next time i need some help it seems to be the quicker solution  cheers, stu :P
  4. this is my "work" and i get paid every dad for it :P nobody has said anything so i wont change until they do  stu (N)
  5. Well thanks for the help guys i have got it to work. Taking on board what sfboy said and the little comment from danny about php i managed to find the simplest of .php files to do exactly what i wanted Just incase anybody else wants this for some reason: http://www.mykazaam.com/home/index.php?go=down download the file called "Form To Mail Processor" all you HAVE to do is stick in the email address you want the processed file to go to along with the URL to the "thanks" page and its done, the simplest i have come accross by far. Of course there are other functions that you can edit for preference but its not always needed. So thanks again very much my ass is saved (N) stu :P
  6. that may have proved to be some very valuable information to me. Yeah i agree about the CSS but i havent learnt it yet im still in the very beggining of learning it but once i have these forms going properly im going to start making it with a CSS. I gotta try that when im at work on Monday morning. thanks a lot for the help, stu :)
  7. brochure request form ok so i have finally got a form using a javascript for process validation <form method="post" action="mailto:stuart.broom@eascogroup.com" name="wf_BrochureRequest" id="wf_BrochureRequest"> is the above code right? im a little unsure about the "mailto:stuart.broom@eacogroup.com" i thought it would just send straight to me but i get this come up, and i know on "proper" websites you dont get this message: can you spot anything wrong? cheers, stu (Y)
  8. can you make forms for websites? if you take a look at http://www.premierhomesltd.co.uk/brochure%20request.htm you will see my form that people should fill out. Its using a post method but i believe it needs a javascript to process the form so that it works for ALL users because currently it doesnt work for people using AOL and that really doesnt help. awaiting your reply, stu (Y)
  9. for a link to launch outlook express is relatively easy mate, where you would normally put a link like errm ie: http://www.yoursite.com/links page.htm this would be the link to take you to your links page. In the exact same place type in mailto:********@domain.com ******* represent the email address and the domain being aol, hotmail, yahoo whatever so you could well end up with mailto:nohpee@hotmail.com when people click this link it will open up their email program *which may not be outlook* depends what they use and will have your email address already inserted. hope that helped mate, stu (Y)
  10. Ah i had this problem not too long ago and it happened in two different ways the first one you want to check is the bios settings dont worry its not too complicated when you start you computer up you may well get something comes up saying press blah blah to enter setup, press that and enter the setup if you look through all the settings on there you can find one that says "sound device" mine somehow managed to get set to disabled, obviously you want this enabled if this is set to disabled just enable it and you done <_< the other one was windows update downloaded a new driver for my sound car and screwed it up if you go to start > control panel > system > hardware > device manager you may find that your sound card has a yellow exclamation mark next to it, if so right click it go to properties click the driver tab at the top, now you have an option on the left hand side to "roll back driver" clickity that and let it roll back, this should reverse the changes made and make it work again hope that helped mate, stu :S
  11. brochure request Well its a form and its using the traditional "POST" method, i have noticed that people using AOL are having problems trying to send me the details using the form. I dont quite understand the workings of making it any other way so i could do with some help on the matter. I really would like it to work the way they do on proper websites without the complications of email programs etc. If someone could help i will put you in my love list :S nah seriously, i would appreciate it a lot though. cheers, stu <_<
  12. i had the same problem, it turned out to be another lovely effect of having spyware on the computer. Thoroughly clean the registry, deep scan the hard drive and check that you have nothing running in the system startup that shouldnt be there. to check the startup go to start > run > "msconfig" is what you wanna type in then click the startup tab check for anything with "bargain" "save" "find" "toolbar" and other such related crap. stu (Y)
  13. if you want to make some good flash text effects you can download a program called "mix-fx" its so straight forward its unbelievable. Other than that i cant really help, im still a total newbie at flash :- stu :P
  14. could you perhaps save it as a text document, then open it up in notepad and save it with a .html extension? might work i dunno about the only suggestion i can give stu :-
  15. ooooh someone agreed with me, i swear im getting brainier :P" its a brilliant site i swear, stu :-
