right a few of you on here may know i now have a laptop with external HDD to play music through my stereo in my room. Now the cd's i have (legal ones) that i copy to my laptop need licenses and i dont have any means of being able to connect it to the net, is there a player i can get which will disregard these licenses because its really not that helpful if i cant play my music. Im sure someone out there has just the solution i need. cheers, stu (Y)

The laptop is only about 18 months old and has USB2.0 and is now operating really fast just like turning a cd player on and off (which is exactly what i wanted) my hard drive manufacturer says that the data can be transfered at 480mb/s i dunno to be honest it all works fine how it is, just would of been a nice little thing if XP could be easily installed on the External HDD but it would seem its definately not. the hard drive on my laptop is only 6gb and i want to keep it as free as possible for the fastest performance i can possibly get out of it. If XP is going to be a slow booter its probably not worth the hassle. I thought it could of been a simple jobby with no after effects but no its not so dont really matter. cheers for the help though, stu :)

So i have a laptop which i (up)downgraded from ME because its so unstable to windows 98 for performance rather than functions. I now have an external hard drive with loooooads of free space on it and i was wondering can i install XP to the external hard drive and boot it up as a secondary IDE so i can use it for other purposes? stu :)

Acrobat, (as far as i know) doesnt have any means of editing, usually in PDF format people choose to use either Image Ready or Photoshop by Adobe. If you already have some knowledge with Photoshop then you are well away with that one. They are the only two programs i know which will handle what you want to do. Free DWG Viewer Above is a link provided to a free DWG format viewer, its pretty basic but all you really need to do is view it, obviously better ones are about but they cost money (Y) hope that helped a bit, stu :)

Yeah mate you do need an amp, if you notice pc speakers these days come with a power source, ie: plug or batteries. This is because they have a small amplifier built into them that is just the amount required for the speakers to function properly, simply because the output from your pc or anything like a personal cd player, mini disc etc. just doesnt have enough power especially for some big ass floor stand speakers :-" If you have any sort of hi-fi or old stereo similar kicking around you could wire it through that. If you want to know how i can explain. Alternatively if you are feeling a little creative amplifier Just buy this little amplifier module and then you can put out up to 30w rms, its not really too bad seeing as the size, the cost and how easy this product is to use. i zipped a big load of them but i have about 15gb of music i need to get over. I figured im just gonna buy a maxtor 80gb external usb hard drive that seems to be the easiest option and will keep my laptop free. stu (Y)

Well i just got me a laptop for storing all my music on in my bedroom because im really tired of the amount of CD's i have and frankly a laptop has much more uses to it than just storing and playing the music. Right the problem is i have 1000's of tracks all on an XP based computer and i need to get them onto the other computer. Ok so the simplest way would probably be burning a load of discs and copying them over to it but i would really like to avoid that if possible. Is there some way of using a cable to connect the two computers together so that the files can just be easily transferred across? any help would be great. stu (Y)

well at a lot of people seem to have some very misunderstood views on drugs. I know hundreds of people who take them and not just smoking weed, cocaine and pills as well its totally acceptable because its what they want to do. Why? because it feels good to them, yeah you can be normal and go out and enjoy a night out in a good nightclub or something, but you take a bit of drugs to go with it and it enhances the music and makes you feel the music, its basically all to do with the music and the people you are with, the socialising, the comfort of being with people that you can relate to and care about and all having a passion for the same style of music. I really despise people that say "it f**ks your life up" when thats coming from people who have never taken an illegal substance in their life! smoking weed can cause accute paranoia in some people when its highly abused, along with class A drugs but then drinking alcohol that happens to be LEGAL can also screw your body and mind up if you abuse the use of it. About 90% of people seem to have TV view on things and its wrong, what the TV and newspapers show you is what happens when its abused but not what the good uses of it are. People just wouldnt take them if there was nothing good about it. Its not too look cool, its not be 'ard its to merely have a good time, be yourself and feel free from all the trouble, war and hate thats going on in the world today. Anybody ever noticed about all the alcohol related crimes on tv, they even make whole series of programs about people getting pissed up and causing trouble on the streets after a night out, ok not all people that like drinking but its more people that are drunk than on drugs. Ever seen any program like that on tv about people taking drugs?! if you have then its probably been a one off occasion. I wouldnt be scared of a big bunch of stoners on the street because they would all be calm and not in the mood for any sort of hate and trouble. Its the people that get pissed up that start causing trouble and major fights with people Dont take notice of the newspapers, dont listen to the TV, if you want the real facts ask someone who does them why they do them, what they gain from it and why they would like to keep doing them, thats the only way you would really understand the reasoning behind it all. i dont think the region has anything to do with the language, its the format of the games that can be used on it like some stupid dvd's wont play on certain dvd players because of this region crap. get rid of all the incomaptibility issues i say! stu (Y)

Ok well i dont really need the money seeing as im in full time work and do get a lovely wage (which i just got my pay slip today for :D ) but i seriously do think its a stupid idea reason: It basically says less wealthy people are not wanting to go to school, but we can encourage them by giving them rewards ie: money! ok great idea it seems to be working in some aspect. But what about the people who are better off than the others, yeah i agree maybe they dont need the money as much because their parents can provide more for them but its kind of being judgemental "if you child is wealthy they will want to go to school anyway, if they are less wealthy they wont want to go to school" now how much of a screwed up idea is that. My parents income wouldnt get me a single penny of that EMA and thats not the reason i dropped outta school straight after year 11 but i did anyway because i had a job lined up, so my parents being wealthier didnt keep me in school. How are we meant to encourage the more wealthy kids to go to school, they dont see any rewards in the future for them by being at school other than people who are intelligent enough to work out that good grades CAN mean something, not always because its more of a who you know not what you know basis these days. We need something that helps to encourage the wealthier peoples kids to stay in school at the moment it just seems to be support from the parents and a self deciscion but thats not gonna cut it forever. stu :turned:

AndyRoo is right, enough said why would you run away if your innocent, you would merely wait see what they want and if infact you were innocent you would be released after an enquiry had been followed, you would then have a better idea yourself of the sort of thing that is going on in London at the moment and could feel a bit safer knowing that the police are offering a better service of protection. i believe a savings account is one you can only put money into untill you are a certain age like 18 or something then you can start withdrawing from it, a current account is one that you put money in and take out as you please. might not be quite accurate though. stu :turned:
