  1. since when has porter been riding an ashton? sweet pics though, bristol is a must for this summer...
  2. no worries man i knew you weren't going to but last time i cancelled a comp there was alot of slagging off going on that wasn't needed and i didn't want these guys to get the same. i was flat on my back in bed, i've got a seriously damaged back i'm on very strong pain killers and cant do anything more energetic than make a cup of tea at the moment... however light at the end of the tunnel - i've been told i'm alowed to go ride the xc bike gentley to see if my back can handle it and if all goes well i'll be back on the trials bike within a month or so...
  3. jesus holy mother of f**king god noooooo!!! this is why bike mechanics hate people who think they know what they're doing but actually dont! do not ever put gt85 in your acs claw, gt85 will displace the grease and leave behind a tiny amount if teflon, fine if thats what you want but its not the way to look after your claw. the grease is in there for a reason so leave it in there!!!
  4. yeah its all going to depend on tyre choice, whether the bike is loaded or not (has someone on it) and stuff like that...
  5. what do you mean no comp? they didn't cancel it due to the weather i hope??? whatever happened go easy on the guys who organised it, regardless of whether it was great or shit they still put a hell of alot of time and effort into organising it which is more than most TF users can be bothered to do...
  6. dude if your going can i come with you? if not anyone from liverpool/north west who can give me a lift i make a good co pilot and pay fuel
  7. ^ excactly what phil said... (cheers)
  8. ahem - copy and pasted straight off his ebay auction: BIKE TRIALS TUITION British #1 Onza not koxx monty zoo so yes your riders use the excact same trick everyone else does, using other peoples trade marks to peddle their own products. i see double standards here and next time you might like to check the auction before making yourself look like a complete tit... (yet again i'd just like to re inforce that any negative coments are not directed at danny. time and time again when dealing with onza/supercycles staff i've found them arogant, rude and not very friendly, i think this thread highlights the attitude very well indeed...)
  9. i would stay well away from val thoren if i were you, i've just done a week there and will not be going back, the snow is awful, the village not very nice and the beer can be expensive but not £6, your looking at atleast £3 a pint and usually £4... the only good thing about val T is that you can get a 3 valleys lift pass and go play in meribel every day instead where the snow is great and the village is far nicer...
  10. i dont have the time to read this entire thread so sorry if i say things that have been said before - 1 - usually top atheletes do not make top coaches because it takes very different skills to teach compared to those needed to perform - if danny can both ride and teach i would be A) very impressed and rather shocked but if he can then sure he's going to be a good person to learn from 2 - trials lessons can definately be worth while, i ran a block of them for novice riders in north wales last year, they cost a couple of quid for a 3hr session, it was very relaxed but it was an indoor training session and i like to think it helped possible new riders gain interest in the sport. on this personal experience i would say that novice lessons can work but are very hard going and trials is NOT an easy sport to teach to begginers. at a higher level then support and feedback off someone else (who doesn't actually need to be any better than you at all so long as they can vocalise their thoughts and understand the physics and techniques behind trials) can be hugely beneficial to your riding so i'm sure some people will benefit alot from danny's lessons (assuming as mentioned in 1 that he can actually teach and not just ride) 3 - to teach and sport you have to be both qualified and insured, seeing as there is NO qualification that covers you completely to teach trials specifically i'd be interested to know how danny is qualified and insured because one of the reasons my sessions stopped last year was because of this difficulty 4 - how come danny's ebay auction didn't get closed even though it used the same 'like koxx, onza, blah blah blah' that everyone else uses and yet when ben was trying to use the same technique onza complained. this really pisses me off when companies act like complete twats, what onza/supercycles have just shown is that they're happy for their riders yo use the same 'cheating' techniques used by most of us but when it comes to people riding for a different company or small independant sales they spit their dummy out - not very mature at all onza and yet another reason for me to like less and less... rant over, maybe someone can confirm if danny can actually teach or not because thats my main concern
  11. i'm in total agreement that this event needs your support, ask any of the lads who rode the indoor bike battle and they'll tell you how much fun it is. if anyone from north wales or liverpool area is going any chance of a lift? cheers
  12. cheers for making me feel old... over 17's only please... either that or labels on the under 17's so i dont get myself in trouble. aust - party at yours to rival the bangor party last year???
  13. i've got a pair so you can definately get them in the UK only thing is i think you can only get old stock. hunt round the DH shops and see what you can find, if you draw a total blank give me a shout incase i'm bored and want to sell mine...
  14. i'll definatley put my hand up to being one of this lot, i live with a bunch of lads in uni, never have anyone complaining about my language and when i get pissed off (which i always do at comps) i find it extremely difficult to control both my anger and my language. iolo will tell you how bad i was half way through the second lap and how well i managed to control my anger and language but it still isn't anywhere near good enough. i'd like to appologise again to everyone who witnessed my angry side and bad language, thats the side of me i hate and dont like people seeing. i always try to control it and keep it hiden but i've not mastered the art yet. all i can ask is that people understand that i am trying to control it and cut down my language and angry outbursts, i dont ever like anyone seeing it, especially not the kids and i'm sorry to any children or parents who i may have upset on sunday. as i continue to ride i will try harder and harder to contain my anger and language but i will openly admit at some point i will fail at this, please understand its not casual bad language and i am trying to stop it. cheers tom (on the black echo control, LAS and howies piss pot) damn right i was shocked, it looked impossible at first glance then i found the piss easy way of dabbing round it (for those who saw me do it and then 5 later on in the section).
  15. yet again a huge thank you to all the organisers, observers etc and a doubley huge one to barbara for bullying me into carrying on when i wanted to retire, your a star. also a big thanks to tim, iolo, tom rigg, sexy mike, phil, ali, barlow and everyone else i've not seen for too long for egging me on, driving me around, lending me their medals for photos, lending me tools and tubes and generally getting me through the day - couldn't have done it without you. all in all i didn't have a great day, rode awfully and really didn't enjoy it but made it through and did alot better than expected (15th!!!). oh yeah and lastly a massive sorry and thank you for my bad mood, bad language and helmet throwing tantrum. sorry if any small people over heard tom sulking because he was getting pissed off. and yes i will be back for more (iolo - if you still need a coat let me know, ali - once you've spoken to your man let me know about helmets, barbara - thanks for the event, the encouragement and everything i'll be in touch soon, fatmike and iolo - lids will be in the uk in the next 2 weeks) LAS all the way - they even float in mud puddles - i have first hand experience of that!
