    Got My Avid.

took me one run down a hill pumping the brake to bed it in too (Y) almost, worked an absolute charm since
  2. speakon connectors are for higher output systems or ones that are dismantled frequently, i.e connecting/ disconnecting on a regular basis. by the sound of it you will need to get the other part of the connector if it doesnt come with the speakers themselves, it wont mess the sound up at all, im sure they have been designed with minimal loss of sound quality ( if you believe in all that about resitance across terminals and loss of clarity etc) should be fine mate, sounds like youll haave to attach the speakon connector to the cable then into the speaker, hth alex
  3. ah bugger, sorry mate got it wrong, its a mac audio z4100, http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_in...cdfd9b1cbdec2b0 its not real pretty, but for the price its bang on  some people dont rate mac audio and other like brands but in all fairness its a decent amp with a good set of power figures to back it :D you could always hide it under a floor for stealthyness, you say that he hp/lp filter would be useless, but you can send the amp a full range signal and divide it using the filters on the amp :S and yes you will need to use a splitter, not a problem though. hth alex
  4. those jbl subs take a real pounding and are good to be able to take their rated figures, i dont think for the price there is a better sub out there to be honest, good choice i didnt fully read youre whole post(before posting this) about dropping the 6x9's but from what i did youve bveen given good advice about the 4 channel amp, maybe you would benefit from getting components at a later date, they are a bit more versatile with respect to aiming and creating a better soundstage, EDIT. just gone back and read your post fully. the omni- directional bit sounds about right (Y) . as for amp recommendations visit www.caraudiodirect.co.uk depending on your budget you can get a wide variety from here. i would recommend the magnat z4100 for your setup as it delivers alot of power for the price, and this amp will actually do the rated figures, unlike such amps as SPLx etc.
  5. sound advice there george, i would recommend the jbl gt4 sub as well in that price range, they take an absolute pounding before they die, they can take waaaaay above theire rated figures too.they need a bout 1.25 cubic foot (sealed). you could use one of the 4 channel amps bridged to run front speakers, rears off the headunit for fill, as george said, but as its a vitara i cant see the need for rear fill really, the cabin is quite small. you would need a spitter for the rca's if you were to do this unless that amp has a mode switch to select 4/3/2 channel etc. and the second amp you could swap for a monoblock soley to run the sub. basically echoing goerges points, hth alex
  6. A head unit that is advertised at 50wx4 is infact closer to 15-17wrms, the 50w is a max power rating that atracts your attention. i dont know how far you are wishing to go with car audio but 6x9's will pull your soundstage to the rear of the car, which is not ideal. a decent set of front component speakers amped will be a far wiser investment IMO. also running 6x9's and a sub is antoher grey area. some say that the displacement of air caused by the sub can damage the 6x9's as they are sharing the same airsapce (i.e the boot cavity) hth alex

    New Shoes

this is usually the point that you realise that they have worn out !!
  17. if you filled that 1 bearing gap with another bearing, they would all try to pop out of the freewheel, the space is there to alow them to rotate without opposing eachother. if that makes sense
  18. slippery on the bar or on your hands? what did you use to put them on with? and no, wen i had them they were really nice. infact i wish i had them still !!
  19. yeah but seeing as he was after a polished finish, i thought i would point out my experience with laquer and polished ally. lol as if the surface was rough it wouldnt be polished :)
  20. i tried this before with halfords laquer and found it dulled the shine off. didnt look so nice and shiney after that !!! edit: and halfords laquer is pants, i found no matter how many coats you apply it just seems to kinda peel off.
  21. whats the chances of the miono mini or mono mini trial fitting with the standard hub? alex
  22. actually. scrap that idea... ( my ideas not yours lol )if it means i can get riding i dont mind getting another bearing for the bikegas hub. does anyone know what siz it may be, as the non drive side is smaller in dia. ? alos does anyone know anywhere that i could easily get hold of cartrige bearings? cheers guys alex
