^beat me to it. Or recycle some old mtb or road frames, chromo should ideally be heat treated during and after the weld process. If your using tungston always purge the tubes, it helps cool the weld but more importantly you get hendrix style penertration.

I dont recall being so jealous since infant school Fair play dude, if it goes big, id be well up for a vocation change!

So powerful it ripped your teeth out?! F*k me sideways... was it powered by a coventry climax?

The 'lever' on the silver mounts is part of the v brake mount clamp, youll know what to use when you look at the frame, itll either have a v brake lug or s maggie mount like the forks. Braces are always good.

Na, no dodgy porn unfortunatly... that was much earlier i did have a warning once before i opened one of those thumbnails on here, cant remember which one. If only i could do a reset! I went on xda developers and downloaded a newer version of android for my phone (on my daughters laptop) but to install it the phone needs to go on to the boot screen, which it no longer does Got myself a galaxy note now and its the tits

Not trying to make this a neon trials welding god thread but do you have any pics of that chassis you made? Posible customer here too

Hi bud, sorry for messing you about over those clamps.. ive had some issues Android ics

I opened the thumnail image on the jaf cracked frame thread and within minutes my phone was f*kt! I got various this has stoped that has stoped error mesages untill nothing worked, so i turned it off and on again and it wouldnt even start up. Is it possinle that i got a virus?

Wow.. i didnt think my ineptitude would start an argument. My second phone bit the dust too, this is my third this week! After several attemps the spokes on one side were just too long, no clue why only one side? I managed three differnt patterns before i quit trying. I took it to my local bike shop and they ordered all new dt's.. plus labour to build ('cuz i lost interest in doing it myself) came to just shy of £60! I toyed with the idea of getting ti spokes but i had no idea if they would suit trials. Thanks to all who tried to help, if only i had been able to read the replies i could have saved a small fortune!

Nice one for the link but the calculator doesn't list try all rims Bike shop tomorrow me finks!
-
I just did! Arse!! How many ways can you lace a wheel? I make it two now and neither are right.
-
^^^i agree, the first time I ever saw trials was in epic park in Mosley and it blew my mind. Set up right it would be one awesome place. The midlands might be a better location for people to travel (not just because I live there ) old industrial units are cheap in the blackcountry

I can't tell, it might be the picture but those welds don't look great.. is it gas welded? I'd gusset the badboy, and keep an eye on the other joints.
-
I've been without my phone for a few days now.. well without half the screen to be exact, anyone miss me? Anyway back on topic, I got a try all rim off eBay to replace my front and I was wondering, before I take all the spokes out, are they going to be the right length? Try all 32 holeswap for a sun big fat mammoth 32 hole.

All things being equilateral those axles co ld be a sine of the times..

Yep I'm a fabricator, amongst other things. I restore classic cars, there's some posts in the car thread of some of the stuff I do. I'm the main fabricator, I make chassis/repair sections, body panels/sections, sub frames, gearbox mounts ect that are no longer available due to age or just rarity. I also do mechanical, electrical and interior work, basically everything car related. I used to do gates and railings and fitting the automation, and I was in refrig for 10 years. I've been a busy boy Not on Facebook bud. Dunno if you've done any pics yet cuz I haven't checked but soon as I see some I'll sketch summert simple for you.

Give me some side on, upside down, dropout, bb, steer tube pics and I'll do a rough drawing with some notes, its easyer than trying to rite it. You will probably need spare/scrap forks, headset and a bb unless you've got steel the exact internal size
-
Silicone grease has less drag than vaseline, has a much higher temperature range and is recommended for most brake piston rebuild kits. (Not trying to be a smartarse) its not cheap. About 10-20 quid for a toothpaste sized tube of the good stuff. If you are going to water bleed a metalpiston you'll need something like that to stop the corrosion (unless its stainless ect)

I'm backing dave33 in principal. For the cranking force to remain constant through acceleration the crank would need to reduce in size... ergo gears! Therefore although cranking from a smaller radious from stationary would require more effort, once forward motion was achieved it would be sustainable for longer.

If you use some cutting compound and something to act on it rotationaly it should only take a few seconds and be mint. Like re-seating a valve on a car head.
-
If you've got steel, summert to cut it with and a welder... about 2 hours. You don't even need a tape measure! (but have one just in case ) *a snapped frame might not be so easy, but do-able
