  1. Just when I got my mind around jumping to the front wheel on a gap to front, I hit my shin with the pedal and had to go home.
  2. Better than listening to someone on the forum who has been riding trials for only 2 1/2 years.
  3. That's what I was trying to say. I'd consider Ali's technique on the same level and my comment more muscles = better rider was only for Ali and not as a general statement.
  4. Yesterday I had a little brake through. I dunno what it was (maybe the front squats @Ali C mentioned) but my technique felt so much different than other times. I went to a wall I am comfortable with and concentrated on leaving the rear brake open for a longer time than just a split second during the jump. It worked very well. I got on the wall easily AND the impact when landing on it was so much smoother. I also didn't fall over to the side I jumped to but stayed with both feet on the bike. Happy now...
  5. I bought them Nukeproof. Great pedals. Let's see how long they hold up.
  6. Gaining muscle will get you to jump higher/farther. So yeah, this is a way of improving your riding, since you've got the perfect technique already. For me it's quite the contrary.
  7. Still the best way to improve your riding. If you put on some muscles you'll be an even greater beast than you already are. Looking forward to some videos of you 5kg heavier. I could do more than 60kg on the front but wanted, as you said, pay attention to correct form rather than weight. What I really lack though is riding technique. Right now, I don't need any more strength to improve my riding; it doesn't hurt though.
  8. You can always kill your legs in the leg press. Inspired from @Ali C I made myself a plan including front squats as well. As I finished my 6 week routine, I was going to mix something up anyways. Even though I only did sets with 60kg of front squats, my muscles are still sore. As a comparison, I usually go up to 140kg on normal squats. I am curious about Ali's improvements when it comes to trials. Bunnys are already off the roof.
  9. The higher the weight gets, the lower I get but still, never ATG without anything under my heels.
  10. This. I cannot squat fully without lifting my heels. ATG (Ass to Grass) is what I learned years ago in the States. There is a wide consensus on this.
  11. Now this is nice to hear. @Ali C: I really wish I could do this.
  12. You're doing it right then. ATG on squats is very important. I always try to go as low as possible. Due to my short calf muscles this isn't very easy. I left out stretching a long long time. Now it takes even more time to undo the damage.
  13. I'd say a general rule but for every goal there are at least 10 theories. For max hops you need muscles though, so weight training with big weights is very important. What you don't want is stagnation so you want to alternate your workout every other month or so.
  14. Sounds like a good overall workout. I hate front squats even though they are more beneficial than the "normal" ones. I wouldn't do plyometrics and squats in the same workout though. What I usually do is put on some weight doing heavy loads with little repetitions for 6-8 weeks and then 4-6 weeks plyometrics.
  15. If I build up the street trial, I'll be using my FFW cranks so probably going for 18/13.
  16. Not necessarily but it seems like a good plan. There's plenty of power in my legs with no technique whatsoever. Still indecisive as to build up a Street Trials or a Mod.
  17. OK. Didn't know that. Thanks a lot.
  18. True... oh my gosh... haven't thought about this. Still the chain line could be a problem as I need to put in a BB and I don't know if 128mm is too much. What about the gear ratio? 18:14 too small probably.
  19. Sorry if this question has been posted before, I can't find anything related. I'm in the process of building up an Onza Zoot Pro for which I've got a new frameset pretty cheap. Now I don't want to spent too much money on it and as I still have a fixed rear disc hub and a FFW, I was thinking of putting these things together. Would I get problems with the chain line? If not, what gear ratio is recommendable (FFW is 18T)? Thanks.
  20. You will be able to lace it but I can imagine the threads of the nipple that are actually used being to little. Either this or too much torque. Get new spokes! BTW. Longer nipples won't help either.
