  1. We're the "coventryish riders" riders on Facebook, there were 3 more who couldn't make it :(

me and kyle rode there last week and ran out of spots after about 2 hours or so, most of the decent spots have been knocked down so riding wise its pretty awful now

sounds like a good turnout though, the more people the better it is generally, didn't realise there were that many around that rode anymore

  2. I'll be heading to Bristol and wouldn't dream of going back to Leicester unless I absolutely had to ( :P ) but just so you know, they've apparently knocked most of the spots down.

Hex is gone, and apparently Royal is all fenced off. A bunch of little spots are supposedly no longer too. Slats at the uni are back in action though.

Not saying it'll be no good at all - just so you know it might not be what you hope (which shouldn't be much anyway). Haha.

dunno what youre on about, ten people showed up and it was a blast :D josh leech, pogo, myself, josh Gilbert, john, rich, James, tez, Jason, Chris. Was great!
  3. So! I decided as a entertaining little project, I would repair and modify my very old 1998-02 raceline magura.

At the start: paint scratched to hell, brake seized, does not work.

First off I wanted to get it to work, so I flushed it out and found the internals looked okay, no leaks. Through trial and error I found the lever would occasionally not return, and I decided this was to do with the piston. I found it was seized (more or less) and removed it, cleaned the bore and piston, replaced the spring, and hey presto it returns nice and snappy.

Next up was a mineral oil bleed, and now the brake works perfectly.

Onto the appearance- super tatty. First off I rawed the lever blade with some sandpaper and wire wool, then with the help of nitromorse, I did the same to the lever body. Obviously nitromorse can't get into all the fiddely places, like between the bar clamp etc, so that was another job for some Swiss files and sandpaper.

The process was then repeated on both slave cylinders.

The end of the lever blade has this "sphere" shaped end, similar to motorbikes, but i thought it is completely unnecessary on a bicycle brake, so I cut it down to make it look more modern, and save about 0.0000000001 grams #weightsaving

So now it looks and works the part, but I'm wondering what else I could do, please put some suggestions below! Drilling the lever blade was an idea.

I'm still after a more modern magura though so get In touch! :)

  4. Long shot but does anyone have the picture of the heavily drilled out Echo lite? I remember that also been tasty.

I remember the guy had really gone to town on it, if anyone has them maybe post them all up?

Damn I remember seeing a thread on that bike a while back, was it he ones with the cutouts in the hubs aswell?
  5. My friend Jason's gu- he's joined the 203mm club with it's front brake. Love itttt

On a related note, there's a bunch of us called "the coventryish riders" on Facebook, if any of you are based in cov and are on Facebook drop me a PM

  6. Nice dude, having somewhere to practice like that is idea. I'd say just keep at it and you'll pick things up as you go for sure. Bike time is always the key and style comes as a result.

I could keep myself entertained with that set-up for hours!

as above, I have no garage and a simple setup to play about with would keep me entertained for eternity :P perfect place to learn on. Put two pallets down and slowly move them apart as you learn to gap bigger and bigger, maybe spice it up and try some gaps to front. Keep at it, I almost prefer videos like these to edits :P
  7. A LOT more likely! Euan Beaden ran 203s on a 2013 fourplay team and snapped the frame after 5 months or so. however hes had 203s on an Arcade for over a year... im sticking with 180s on my Skye, mainly because not many people actually need 203s, and realistically i dont either (other than top riders i guess) and because if i ever go to a smaller rotor ill hate it haha.

saying that, there are a few crazy people like Jamie who run 203s for DA ULTIMATE BRAKIN POWAR :P but other than that most people dont "need" them imo, and a lot of people run them to be like danny mac n stuff. i personally dont get the fancyness about 203s haha

I like to prepare myself for crashing into walls by having brakes which replicate that experience ;)
