  1. 256 Ram is nowhere near enough. Don't bother with less than 512, even 1Gb is sensible. Get a cheaper CPU/smaller hard drive etc if you have to. P.S. That second one doesn't come with Windows.

    I Pod Trouble

Pfft, you don't need to do that at all! Basically if you plugged it in before you installed iTunes, Windows will have recognised it as something random, and all the drivers will be wrong. Now, even though you've installed iTunes, Windows still recognises the iPod as the same random thing, and it doesn't work properly. I'm sure there's a quick fix for this, but I've never had to do it myself, so I don't know. Try looking in Device manager (control panel --> system --> hardware) and see if there's anything in there with an exclamation mark by it. If there is, remove it, restart, reinstall iTunes and try again.

    24uk Bikes

My Levelboss 1065 had a 1080 wheelbase... And to some extent I think you can compare Triton to 24UK. If I needed a new 24", I would consider all of the options, and there aren't that many. If the 24UK would do, of course I would buy that, but if not then I'd have to consider more expensive options like Leeson and Triton (less likely now ) Maybe I just feel that Gazza was unfairly harsh on someone that works very hard for, basically, the users of this forum. Who knows.

    24uk Bikes

Yeah, that slagging off was well out of order. Luckily most people on here will know who Gazza is, and will see straight through it. Anyway, I bet every frame out there varies by a millimetre here or there - It's not really a problem seeing as everyone's bike rides differently anyway due to bars/stem etc. I would happily buy a 24|UK anyway.
  5. Yeah it's dead easy to change the RAM. You can buy RAM from elsewhere, but I probably wouldn't buy it off eBay. If you buy from Crucial.com/uk (Like grizzly said) then they guarantee that it'll work, and it'll only be a few more quid.
  6. Argh that looks so scary! But also very cool. Well played lads
  7. You can't really spend enough on lenses really. The body has basically f**k-all to do with the image quality - the lens is mainly responsible for all of the sharpness, contrast, colours etc. So spending more on lenses is a good thing. The dual lens kit I assume you mean the Canon 18-55 kit lens and the cheap 70-300? If so, both those lenses are pretty rough - My mum has the 70-300 and it's so soft at the long end. I've got a cheap Sigma 55-200 f4-f5.6 (I think) which goes for under £100 new from some places and it's fantastic by comparison, although I've not experienced a higher quality zoom. Basically what I'm saying is that although the Sigma 18-200 (or 18-125) may suffer because it's got such a long range, it may well be better than the two Canon lenses, especially when you take into account having to change lenses etc.

    How To Fakie

Yeah of course there is - Turning the bars! If you're falling off to the right, you need to turn the bars to the right (I.e. pull your right hand towards you). But try not to think about it too much or you'll probably confuse yourself, it should just be something that you'll pick up with practise I'm afraid.
  9. The new ones will be better though, they always are, right? In fact, now is about the best time to buy a new bike as all the shops are getting rid of their old stock ready for the 07 stuff.
  10. The one thing that really bugs me about Specialized is their bloody stupid American name (with Z in it). Which is stupid because that would actually put me off buying one. (I want an XC bike )
  11. It might just be that you're running the wrong settings somehow - If the resolution or refresh rate is too high the TV will struggle. Try fiddling with that. It's also worth checking that all the cables are in place and secure - The ones I use are a bit dodgy and one slight nudge will lose the picture. Other than that I'm not sure - Can you try plugging it in via S-video? I guess probably not...
  12. Yeah, it's worth a look certainly if you want to do a weekend or even a week XC riding. If you've got a car and can drive places then there's 7 different places you can go, easily enough to keep you entertained for a week.
  13. Carrera are good these days, haven't you heard? Unless you're a brand whore. I've got a Carerra road bike and it's really good.
  14. Hmmm, sounds pretty sketchy. Is your Mum, um, OK in the head? Have you done anything that might have deserved being kicking out? I reckon you can apply for the dole and/or EMA or some kind of loan and get a flat or something until you finish college. Good luck, anyway.
  15. Can you clone the mac address of the laptop to the same as the PC in an effort to try and confuse NTL? Or will it not allow more than one mac of the same on the network? In other news: Routers with ADSL modems built in are usually £10-15 more expensive than just plain wireless routers (with an ethernet rj45 in for the NTL connection). Send this one back, get the proper one and save money. Duh!
  16. Looks like you were right about the Canon, Chris: http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/eosdigital3/index.html
  17. The BB7 would be best I'm sure, although I've not heard anything about anyone using the Juicy5 for trials. I have a Juicy 7 and it's about comparable with a BB7 in terms of power, maybe the BB7 is slightly more powerful. The Juicy feels nicer though. As for price - I paid £50 for the BB7 caliper + disk + pads (no lever or cable) brand new, but I think that was a pretty good price and I've not seen any that cheap since. So I think you're looking at £60-70 for a new one these days. If someone is selling one second hand it means that it's not working properly and you should avoid it But probably £30-40 at a complete guess. P.S. Just curious: How was the mini wrong for your forks?
  18. Yeah, but when that came out it was a year ago and the market was not so big and not as competitive as it is now. Unless it has a big jump in terms of functions then it won't be more expensive. If anything they might bring something cheap out to really compete with the d50 and Pentax IstD. But I doubt it - it'll probably come out at much the same price as the 350 is now. Buy the camera with a standard lens and see what you need later. I have a tele lens (55-200) but I don't use it half as much as the standard lens. An 18-200 would be nice and convenient but at the price of quality I'm sure. But less hassle for sure so you have to make a decision on what you think is worth it. So yeah, just use the standard lens for a month or so and figure out if the next lens you should buy ought to be a wide angle, or a tele, or a macro, or a fast prime etc.
  19. Ok, this ain't Canada but it's still good. This was at the 7 stanes in South West Scotland. There's some really sweet single track and some awesome North Shore style trails. Ae This is one of the nice swoopy single-track sections of Ae. Most of the trails here were really rocky so a bit hard going on my Dad's rigid GT. A sus fork would make it a lot nicer. Still very fun though: Funny angle. I like the colours: Towards the end of the trail there's a few jumps/rises/drops. Here's one: Kirroughtree Kirroughtree is nice. Loads and loads of technical single track = very fun. The top of the trail is a bit called McMoab, which is basically a huge bit of granite sticking out of the ground, and there's a marked trail across it which is like a very long trials section, really. Yup, we are just THAT hardcore. Check the death sign. Like drinking bleach: Here's another bit of McMoab, I probably didn't show just how steep it was: Mabie Mabie is where the main north shore stuff is. This is basically what it looks like, for miles. We reckon about 2km. But it's obviously very varied - some rocks, some tree trunks, some uphill, some downhill etc. How good is your balance? Then there were some really thin bits in places And just to prove I was actually there: (Check out the 1998 GT Arrowhead ) Not sure if I like this one. Still, it's different Save the best for last: For anyone that's thinking of going, check the link above. That's about all you need to know. I liked Kirroughtree best because it just had miles and miles of sculpted trails and single track. Mabie was very cool for the North Shore stuff, but you had to ride quite a lot of boring cinder track to get there. Ae was pretty cool too, but I didn't appreciate the rocks on my rigid beast, and I thought that Kirroughtree was better overall anyway.
  20. I think it would be a shame for Canon to jump on the Megapixel race, although it's quite possible given the new Sony which would seem to outclass the 350D on spec alone. I don't see it. I know the 30D was only a small upgrade on the 20D, but it won't have even been out a year in February. But mmmm for full frame, reasonably-priced d-SLR.
