  1. Yeah, but suspension takes the price up and is pointless on the road. In fact it's heavier, so I would see it as a bad thing on this kind of bike, even without the price difference.
  2. I think JJ does that in Evolve doesn't he? It's really difficult, but looks really stupid :D
  3. Ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-ch-check it out
  4. Well go on then: And indulge me. Tell me that you love my bike. It'll make me feel goooood. But do it HERE!
  5. I have a blue 661 Dirt Lid.. Similar colour to that, a kind of sparkly blue. Nice and cheap too.
  6. That looks good, I shall certainly bear that in mind :P That looks like not a bad idea. I shall take a trip to Halfords with her :) Thanks to everyone so far, keep 'em coming though

    Nice huh?

Yeah, that's right. Keep It Simple Single Speed (Tensioner). As far as I can tell, it works really nicely. It is possible to overtighten the chain tension (So the cranks won't spin), so it's not like one of these fixed tensioners that loses all tension after 10 minutes... It's good. Like everything on that bike. Except the back tyre which I may have to change already
  8. My girlfriend just got her bike stolen. It was a 10-year old Claud Butler fully rigid mountain bike. Pretty basic spec, but it all worked and was nice and light. Basically, she wants a new one the same, but these days it's hard enough to find a bike without full suspension, let alone a rigid beast. She should be getting £200-£250 ish on the insurance, so that's what she wants to spend. I told her to get a road bike, but she doesn't like them because they're not comfortable. She won't be doing many miles, so I think a mountain bike would be fine anyway. Something like a GT will just get stolen even if it bottom of the range (bike thieves ain't exactly the sharpest tools), so nothing that looks expensive. So: £200 ish Fully rigid Just for road use really Good value Un-stealable (Y) Any ideas? Thanks in advance ;)
  9. Who thought that? Why would Koxx rip-off their own frame, and then undercut it in terms of price? (Y)
  10. I had black hair once. It was fun. Until I let it grow out and I had 2-tone hair for ages... Yeah, Austin is a hair dresser "stylist" ;)
  11. My girlfriend recommends THIS (Y)
  12. I think for both. Apparently the BB is held in with a circlip and a lot of epoxy or something. Either way, it's not something you can just do at home. The thing is that Shimano square taper BB's seem to last forever so they don't need replacing, whereas ISIS alledgedly always break.
  13. Not sure the mech hanger thing is a great idea - you'll take your QR out at the same time as the mech and hanger... But at least it's good they're thinking about it (Y)

    24 Inch Geo

Leeson (Aka Pashley forks) look good on a skinny steel frame, but you can just use any 26" fork if you use a disc or move the mounts. Clive Leeson can sort you out with the corrected forks if you need it. And yeah, I think he can get most stuff in like rims and other finishing bits

    Nice huh?

Easton EA50's for the bars. Race Face Progidy stem. The other bits you can't see are CK rear and Hope front hubs. Atomlab DHR rim on the front, RhynoLite on the back. And the seat is an old Orange one I've had lying in my garage for about 5 years, off an XC bike originally Oh, and 26" tubes because I couldn't be bothered buying new tubes

    Nice huh?

And here come the vital statistics: Wheelbase 1040 Stays 385 Headangle 74 BB +25 And it feels good. It's a bit of a weird feeling - it rides almost as long as my 1065 Koxx, but the head angle is waaaay steeper so the front end is really sharp. Nice on the front wheel, but a bit "jumpy" for wheelswaps and the like. Nothing I won't get used to though. The overall shortness makes it nice and flicky too. Overall very pleased. Might put a shorter stem on it to make it a bit shorter for a more streety ride, but I'm happy how it is
  17. Just buy a network card for the other one, and the cable then

    Nice huh?

    From the album: 609

So here it is, after weeks of waiting
  19. Yeah, basically. The only problem is, because of Clive's, um, "interesting" bb arrangement, it's not as simple as just replacing the BB. You'd need to send the frame back to him I think :D For that reason, on a Leeson I would go square. For everything else, I'd probably say ISIS. My ISIS burns were ace (And I never had any BB problems) :D
  20. If you have network cards in both PC's, just get a crossover ethernet cable and plug them together (Y)
  21. Ben Slinger used to do them quite a lot. Kind of a pedal-to-manual-to-tap-to-bunny hop. As far as I can tell, there's not really much point, but they do look pretty funky :)
  22. Yes, I would learn. Once you can trackstand properly with your "wrong" foot forwards, you will learn how to balance and put power through with that foot. After all, to tap/pedal hop, most of the pedal power comes from your bad foot - so if you can put power down effectively, you're half way there. For ages I rode hardly being able to trackstand left foot forwards, and my taps were completely non-existant. Couldn't get the timing consistantly at all. One you can balance bad-foot-forwards, you can start getting those taps (and other stuff - pedal gaps etc) consistant. Perhaps you're not at that level yet, but it's certainly a pretty fundamental foundation to start from. Don't listen to JT :)

    Time Travel

Dunno. I would have thought the clever scientists would have thought about that and shielded it if necessary :)

    Time Travel

No, they just showed that in stuff going faster, time went slower. So they did a few loops of the world in a jet, and then compared the atomic clock to the one on the ground, and they were a few trillionths of a second out or something. I still don't understand this concept, I need someone to explain it to me in terms of "why". As for imagining parallel dimensions thing - I think people try too hard to picture them as a fourth dimension next to your average xyz axes. It's not possible. You're never going to be able to create a model in your head of what extra dimensions will "look" like. Because even if they do exist, you won't be able to see them at the same time you can see in out current dimension. So just imagine them as something completely different. As for time travel being impossible, I wouldn't want to say that. We are discovering new things every day. Who would have known about Penicillin until Fleming discovered it? All it takes is one amazing discovery :)
