  1. I was gonna say that I f**king hate tube. But after making loads of complicated designs that didn't work, I made this: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=699841
  2. I'm quite proud of this one - 4 pieces http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=618330
  3. Very clever, and very minimalist. I like
  4. No the new iPhone has a GPS receiver in it. There's not actually any navigation software out for it (Yet) as far as I can tell. Having used a Windows Mobile phone for the last year, I wouldn't get another one. Yes, there is a lot of good software out there, but doing simple things like surfing the internet or even making a phone call is annoyingly difficult and long-winded. The iPhone doesn't have the same vast array of (free) applications as Winmo (although the iPhone app store is improving all the time from what I understand), but it does the simple things so well that it's a joy to use rather than a complete pain in the arse. I'll be buying one as soon as my current contract runs out for sure.
  5. Yes, it should work fine, just plug it in. The jumper on the back of the old drive needs to be on either CS or Slave as George says, but it'll almost certainly be on CS anyway so I doubt you'll have to change it.
  6. Yeah, me too I hate O2 (I used to be on them for years of massive bills) and I have no problems with Orange, but I want an iPhone. If I can get it on Orange, everyone is a winner! Mind you, that blog doesn't exactly seem THAT reliable.
  7. That's like my design, although yours is slooooow (mainly because the cat tracks hit the ground at the front). http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=577350 Poor spelling on 'trebuchet' ( ), but in fairness that's well good, did you do that?
  8. Alright, check this out. Inspired by Mark - here's is my guy on a bike doing a wee trials section. He even pedals (in a peg leg style) http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=578296
  9. Yeah, it's taking ages to save. Like, 5 minutes
  10. Skillz. (That was pretty much exactly what I did: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=572374 )
  11. I decided that minimalist was lame. BEHOLD: THE GIANT WALKING MECHATOMM http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=573973 And my favourite one so far: http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=574475
  12. Well, I was just throwing the idea out, but then I did it on pretty much the first attempt (I was very lucky though!). But yeah, it is doable
  13. Like this one: I can't believe I spent time designing a 4-wheeled thing that turned upsidedown when it fell off the edge http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=571643 I like that one Adam. I can't do that last level well, anyway. Mine looks worse than that. ------------------------------------- I just thought of something: Challenge - on the level 'mission to Mars', your challenge is to land (and stay put) on Mars
  14. The simplest ones are the best - Surfing
  15. He's good at this. But shouldn't he be working? Er no, that's mine
  16. Two stupidly overcomplicated ones http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=568908 http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=569457 ... and this one is the opposite - very simple. http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=569754 (I used the exact same solution for the next two puzzles - "the wall" and "on a roll" - too)
  17. Mr Putin used to be the president of HEN hubs, then he had to resign. Now he's the prime manager but he still runs the company from the inside. True story. Hot Engineering Novelties - sponsoring the massacre of ethnic Georgians since 2007. SRSLY though - Poo hubs?
  18. Fair enough, but your dad is obviously in the minority. Changes in taxes always makes winners and losers, but personally I'm glad that the government are recouping more money from idiots who drive 4x4s for the hell of it. Not that I'm counting your Dad in this - it sounds like he is one of the unlucky ones but someone will always lose out, as long as it's not me I don't care. Besides, the cost of tax in terms of the annual running costs of a car is pretty small. Land Rovers aren't particularly fuel efficient anyway so I'd imagine your dad's fuel bill runs pretty high... I actually lost out quite a lot when they changed the tax, because my car is a 1.6. If the engine was 40cc smaller, I'd save ~£80 a year on tax. D'Oh.
  19. Haha, I quite like the tax on 4x4s, because they really piss me off driving around in the middle of towns. You see so many clowns who buy a range rover, stick alloys on it and lower it, so it's totally useless off-road. The thought of higher taxes for these clowns makes me warm inside (the same goes for all the mums who drive their kids to school in BMW X5s etc). Besides, if you can afford a posh 4x4, you can probably afford to pay a bit more tax. Taxing the wealthy a higher rate is hardly news. The only real losers in this case are the people who need a 4x4. So, er, no one then?
  20. Did anyone ever play The Incredible Machine (TIM) when they were little? A very similar game to this, I played it loads as a kid :$ Haha, that's well cool. Makes my effort look rubbish, or at least a bit too simple! I haven't worked out how to show a video of it but I basically I put three clockwise wheels on the red block in strategic positions and used the wall to tip it over and around the corner. Simple design but it took ages to get the wheels in EXACTLY the right place.
  21. I would have thought so, or just insulating it to ensure that you don't short it out on anything else inside the case. I think Endohopper was saying if you have a cowl (or any other external metal bits), make sure those are earthed.
  22. Wow, congratulations on the nomination, and good luck with the final!
  23. Not that it's anything to do with online or anything, but has anyone played geometry wars 2? It's brilliant. That is all
  24. Yeah, exactly that. If you're not using a metal case then it doesn't really matter as it can't short out on a plastic casing.
