  1. I think that's one of the problems with firewire. It can transfer large files quite quickly but it needs time to process each one, which is why the file will copy, then pause, then copy another. If you can plug your hard drive in via USB (2.0) I suspect it'll be faster for the things you mention (and marginally slower for copying large files).
  2. Looks like you've got some good rocks to ride there. Nice pictures too
  3. I reckon the split links on KMC/KHE chains (I.e. the 3 piece ones you described) are fine. Just make sure you steer clear of SRAM powerlinks, yeah? I'm not quite sure how the split link will help this though? It's no shorter than normal links.
  4. Even after you say all of that, I'm still placing my eggs in the DNS basket. Most of the people on that forum don't work for "Windows, Dell, Packard Bell etc" they're just computer nerds the same as can be found anywhere on the internet. Working out what's wrong could be a complicated diagnostic procedure that's hard to explain over a forum. Nearly everything can be fixed if you give it enough time but it's much easier just to tell the guy to wipe his computer. Especially if the guy is as exasperating as you are.
  5. No. You're talking rubbish. What home firewalls are there that will block http traffic? What will reinstalling Windows do which you can't change in control panel? Oh, and Windows deletes important system files all by itself does it?
  6. If that was a joke, I don't get it. If it wasn't a joke, you're a dumbass
  7. I'm pretty sure you need to use a firewire cable with that camera (my mate has one). The USB cable is only for transferring photos taken on a memory card, which seems stupid to me!
  8. Haha, that's well good. If only it was full of Creme Eggs though.
  9. I don't really understand why you would need different lengths. The Rohloff doesn't come in different lengths does it? I presume it would be a 'max sprocket size' so a 19t one would work for anything smaller than 19t? Seems fair to me.
  10. Well we'll see I guess. But this is exactly the same symptom as I've had when I inadvertently turned off the DNS server on my router. Windows will connect to the wireless but can't get an IP address and no networking will work.

  12. You don't need to reinstall windows. It's not very helpful to suggest things that are just a total waste of time (like the firewall thing earlier, and suggesting to reinstall Windows). I'm 90% sure it's a DNS thing. You connect to the wireless fine but you don't get an IP address from the router. Like Danny said, just leave all the settings as default (I.e. 'obtain an IP address automatically'). This is in network connections, choose your wireless card, properties, TCP/IP settings. If you need more of a hand, just shout but you should be able to work it out (or google it). If that doesn't work, log into the router settings and check that DNS is enabled, and that there's no protection on the router - I.e. Mac filtering.
  13. I bet half those weights are wrong, and then you have to add on a bit more for extra bits like cables, grease, dirt etc. So I doubt it's under 7kg. Would be interesting to see one built up though.
  14. Arf. I know some clever b*****d would do that
  15. In that case it'll be hard to mention anything illegal then, won't it? P.S. Are you sure it was free?
  16. Nice pictures, some of them are proper good! That gap too tree by Ali is mental, too. Some of the photos (the first few) are a bit over-saturated IMO though.
  17. Nice pictures, love the rolling gap one. It just means that the dodgy light trails (I.e. the trails you see of the rider that aren't due to the flash - normally blurred and feint) are behind the rider, rather than in front so it looks better
  18. Danny that's the original, not the mix version. N.B. The first person to mention anything illegal in this thread gets a 24 hour ban
  19. The only news here is that the guy's a liar liar

  22. Are you familiar with WINE?
  23. Yeah, pretty awesome bike for a beginner! Hope he sticks with it.
