    Laptop Problems.

Nah I wouldn't be so sure. I have to underclock my graphics card on my PC. If I try and play a game with it and forget to underclock it, it artifacts horribly like in those pictures. As soon as I turn it down, it cools off a bit and it works fine. It's been like that for 3+ years.
  2. Yes, but I thought to stop a wheel bending you need material in the plane of bending? For a wheel, to prevent side-to-side bending you need a good area of the flat bit (I.e. where the spokes meet it). Adding another disk parallel to the wheel won't help this. In fact I don't think the disc would stop the rim bending at all. I could actually see it making things worse because you'd have a weird force from the brake twisting the rim slightly every time you braked. Still, I'm willing to be proven wrong!
  3. I'd be surprised if that disc offered any support to the wheel itself. Discs are really bendy and it wouldn't be attached that rigidly. But I thought that the caliper had some degree of float in it to accommodate this anyway? It looks like a good idea and I'm all for innovation. But I reckon even if he can get it working perfectly, the extra weight over a normal setup will be a turn off for a lot of people. Will be good to see though. Knowing OTN their replies will be entirely sarcastic with the ultimate aim of financially ruining the foreign guy who isn't in on the 'joke'
  4. That's the best thing I've seen all day!
  5. Cheers, that was really bugging me!

    Laptop Problems.

Not without taking it apart. Or at least taking the case off. Then, if you know what you're looking for you might be able to work out what's wrong. Guessing it's not under warranty?

That's probably good news. I'm 80% sure it's it's the cooling on your graphics chip. Have you dropped it recently? You might have dislodged the heatsink so it can't cool down properly. The pattern looks very similar to when my graphics card overheats. If it IS that, you (or someone more knowledgeable) will have to open it up and re-attach the heatsink, probably with some new thermal paste. It shouldn't be that hard to do.
  8. Oh ok. An ad hoc network? I can connect to it, but I can't use the internet through it which is disappointing. I wonder if he has any network shares EDIT: No, don't think so

Me too. If you're lucky it'll have just overheated a bit and once you let it cool down it might work again. Does it work now? If it does work now, don't use it too much and try and sort out the cooling inside it. It might be full of dust or the heatsink might have come off.
  10. What does the 'device' thing mean here? I don't have any devices called leopold and I'm a bit confused. It's just come up today, never noticed it before.
  11. The thing is though depression (and suicide) often isn't really linked to background - you can be in a perfect situation, happy family life with no real troubles and still be depressed. I was pretty depressed at about 14-15, I hated my life but there was really nothing wrong with it at all.
  12. But it's one town out of hundreds like it in the UK. There may also be an element of what Rowly said - people with suicidal thoughts being able to see a 'successful' case, and the chance of notoriety since it's in the newspapers etc. But nothing more than that. People who think it's too much of a coincidence obviously don't have a very good idea about statistics. The Great British public, then. Given enough time, over the years something like this is not just possible, it's a statistical certainty.
  13. Oh maybe it doesn't have DVI input then. If you look really closely is there anything on the screen at all? The backlight may have gone which means you get a picture (and a power LED) but no brightness at all. But you can sometimes see a really dim picture.
  14. I'd be very surprised if the bottom bracket it actually damaged. BBs have steel axles so they're strong and they don't deform as quickly as the soft aluminium tapers on the crank. Just get a replacement left hand crank from somewhere and you'll be fine. By the sounds of it, neither of those other cranksets you're looking at are worth 'upgrading' to.
  15. The problem is that a t20 torx driver will sit nicely in a t25 hole. It's only after you've rounded it that you realise you picked up the wrong size. I don't like 'em.
  16. I thought you would be the only Anal. Everyone's saying it's a big conspiracy but it's a fairly big (ish) town and on average 3-4 people kill themselves every year in a town that size. Because they've had 17 in a year is coincidence, nothing more.
  17. Try it using the other connection (DVI) if you can.
  18. I think you need to design a heatsink rear hub
  19. If it's just for a normal mountain bike just get some deore hollowtechs. Cranks + rings + BB for £45, brand new. You won't get much better than that. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=22924 What's actually wrong with the bike at the moment? Why do you need both crank and a BB?

    Osx86 Project

I tried it when it first came out nearly two years ago and it was terrible. Barely any programs worked at all, it was really slow and crashed all the time ( ) It's probably better now though.

    Blu Ray Wins

Sony have said something like "We would welcome Microsoft to the Blu-Ray camp" or something, so it looks good. Rumour is that it could be an add-on drive released in May. Would be pretty sweet.
  23. The install disk ISO will though Nope. It just says 'unknown' or something.
