    Riding On Graves.

Rowly - you can deconstruct society all you want. To you, that grave might be an irrelevant construct of a stupid society. But plenty of other people obviously see some value in having gravestones (be it spiritual or whatever). The potential to offend is huge, because (I think it's fair to say) most people don't see the world with the same eyes you do. Would you ride on a grave of someone you didn't know? For the record, I wouldn't care if people rode on my grave, either. For one thing, I don't believe in the afterlife or anything like that (so why would I care), and for another thing I'd be glad some people were enjoying my marker. Whether my family would like it or not is a different matter though, and I think anyone riding on it would have to respect that.
  2. Fair do's. I'd buy N stuff now for myself. Not for my sister though
  3. Yeah, I had the same problem. It's so stupid why Paypal doesn't tell you that's what's wrong. For me, I needed two different methods of payment for 'normal' Paypal to work. One - my bank direct debit details, and two - my card details. Apparently those two things are safer than one thing, even though they come from the same account.
  4. I had this when one of my cards associated with the paypal account went out of date. It therefore doesn't trust you or something, so it sends eCheques which are harder to send fraudulently I guess. They can take up to 12 days to clear though, total ballache. So yeah, check that all your payment details are up to date
  5. You'll have replaced just about all of it by the end? But like you say, I really don't see the point. Those drive rings are expensive, and it doesn't seem like you need them at all

    Riding On Graves.

Your post = my post Except you used loads of long words to make you look clever?
  7. Yeah, as far as I know, NTL/Virgin don't stop your web access or anything, but they will throttle your connection during peak times.

    Riding On Graves.

I'm with Rowly on the idea that people rather pointlessly load an object (in this case a gravestone) with emotion, it's certainly not something I would do. But equally I know that those people don't think it's a stupid idea, and they're perfectly entitled to their opinions. And at the end of the day, riding on graves is not going to win you any friends and it's a bit unnecessary. I used to do it all the time, it never even crossed my mind that it was a bad thing. In Lancaster the graveyard is a great place to ride. Quiet and out of the way, usually sunny, lots of lines. I guess perhaps I've grown up a bit and now I'm not so rebellious and have a bit more empathy. I probably wouldn't do it now. Still, it's not as bad as one of my friends who lost his virginity on a gravestone! What if there was no one watching? What they don't know can't hurt them? Would you feel bad then, knowing that you weren't causing any living person any harm? Personally I'd probably be ok with it...
  9. Don't you have to have a BT phone line for Be unlimited? I've been with NTL for 4 years, no complaints from me, and you don't need to pay extra for the phone line.
  10. Like I said, do you need N? If not, then something like this would save you £25. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/661/868/-/342...earchtype=genre
  11. Yeah, here: http://www.expansys.com/ft.aspx?k=68096 To just completely reset everything (to make the phone like new), it's this one, just type it into the phone like you would type a phone number:
  12. The most grabby stuff I ever used was called 3M Spray Mount Adhesive. It was basically glue, worked brilliantly for a little while but needed reapplying all the time (I think when it got dusty). Tar is OK though, lasts much longer and is perfectly reasonable if you only ride in the dry and don't mind insanely grabby brakes. But most people have an angle grinder lurking in their garage or shed, so get grinding. 100% better than tar.
  13. Probably, if they're in a folder called 'TEMP', I'd have thought you can delete them. It would be a bit daft if the program put essential files in a folder called that. Where is this folder anyway, I should probably check mine?
  14. Unless the set top boxes (STBs) are completely different to the cable modems (which I doubt is the case), then you don't need to clone a mac address. Just turn the STB off and then on again. It'll simply register the first mac address it detects. Sometimes it can be finicky about the order you turn things on (It should be STB, router, PC). I don't know if spoofing the mac address will create any conflicts on your network? I'd just return it to default if I were you. But I've never had to 'register' my connection (Except maybe the first time I ever used it). I've even moved house 3 times and not had to re-register (as long as you use the same modem in the same general area, it will work). So I'm not quite sure what that's all about.
  15. If it doesn't play in VLC, you don't want to play it.
  16. Sometimes Maplins has good deals, but yeah, have a hunt around for the best price. You can certainly get them a lot cheaper than £80, but perhaps not 'n' ones. If you do anything over your network besides internet (I.e. backups, media streaming etc) then 'n' is a good idea. If it's just for the internet there's really no point paying more for that extra speed. (Although I believe 'n' has greater range too). There are loads to choose from, I would tend to go on a well-known cheap site (E.g. eBuyer) and choose one that's a few pounds more than the cheapest one. Saving £2-3 on getting a shit router isn't worth it. It could be slow, crash a lot and be a pain to set up. Anything by linksys, d-link, netgear, belkin should be ok. I liked my netgear one, but that broke, so I've not really got any recommendations. By the way, you can always get a wireless access point which will plug into your existing router and provide wireless that way (obviously taking up one of the ethernet ports). Again, I'm not sure on the prices, it might not be any cheaper than a wireless router these days.
  17. This is a mac thread. Your talk of fragmenting is not applicable here
  18. Nice missing of the point there Boumsong Of course
  19. Go see your doc, eh?

    Ebay.

Well, at least he isn't bullshitting you. If he says he sent it and it got 'lost in the post' then I'd be worrying. Seems likes he's told you the truth (even if he is a bit unreliable), so just be patient I reckon.
  21. You can trap a nerve in your neck and get pins and needles down an arm. It's mostly older people that get it but young people can get it. Is it just in certain places? Describe where/when it is more exactly. Also is it brought on by funny neck movements? Might be worth popping to the GP anyway.
  22. Apparently they're changing it so that only sellers get feedback, or something.
  23. That's not how ebay works though. If you give bad feedback, you can certainly expect some in return from the seller.
