  1. A quick question for you 1.8t experts. My cambelt was last changed at 69k and I'm now up to 130k. Should I be looking to replace it again any time soon?
  2. Thinking of treating the LC to a professional alloy wheel refurb (powder coated). The question is, should I keep them a standard silver or something else?

  7. Don't suppose you know the name of the highest trim level 130? I can't seem to find a complete model list? I want to compare a pd130 with my cupra spec wise.
  8. The wheels look good, need to get round to doing mine at some point. What sort of issues did you have with the 150? I don't like the pd130 styling, would much rather have another fr you see.
  9. Think I'm sold on the cupra 150 TDI idea. Same car but nearly twice the economy, ticks all my boxes. There doesn't seem to many around at the moment. I'm specifically looking for 05 plates. Seen a few with 150k miles but around £3500! :| Only downside I see is the dodgey cam issues... P
  10. So ive returned my cheap prosport coilovers without even opening the box! After the pain I had with the dodgey downpipe I've temporarily had enough of playing with cars! Still got a dodgey door lock module which is irritating but I can live with it. Thinking to the future when I may have to buy something sensible. Does there exist a 50+ mpg disel car with a modest amount of power for £3.5k?
  11. Brand new Direnza Kit. There currently on Ebay for £230 I believe. I'm after £190. Would prefer collection (Telford or Rugeley) but would post if you can give me a few days to sort a box out etc.
  12. In case anyone's interested I have a brand new 21mm front ARB (Febi Bilstein) and Direnza FMIC kit for sale (Both for LC/Golf MK4).
  13. Update on the downpipe. Turns out its a poorly welded unit, not been jigged up correctly. I guess that's what you get for buying a cheap "direnza" dp! Old dp is now back on...
  14. I've calmed down a bit now, tools are all away and I'm showered. I hate being a perfectionist. Going to take the car to a garage on Monday and ask them to re-do everything I did today. I'll give them the old dp in case the new one is just crap. I did notice that the left side of the engine looked lower from the front. Maybe an engine mount is knackered? Will see what they say Monday. Don't think it's going to be cheap (never paid a garage to do anything before!)
  15. Right, f**k it. Had enough of playing with cars. Going to take it to the garage Monday and see what they can do. Then I seriously think I'll sell it. Can anyone recommend a 5 door diesel car for around £3-3.5k? Genuine question.

  17. Urgent help needed please!!! Currently fitting my 2.5" diwnpipe to the lc. However it us touching the heat shield on the subframe which protects the steering rack pipes. I can't understand how there is no clearance! Any help please?
  18. I got mine off fairly easily with about a metre long breaker bar.
  19. Did you get a breaker bar in the end? Mine usually come off with one. I've also got a mains powered Clarke impact wrench which has more than proven its worth before! In other news, I purchased a set of cheap prosport coilovers...figured they should be at least better than my 125k mile original dampers, cheaper too! Not much lost if they turn out to be garbage.
  20. Cheers for the advice, Luke. Read mixed reviews on the JOMs as always with the internet... I'm replacing my top mounts and bearings this weekend so thought it would be the ideal time to go lower. Maybe it's not all worth it, got 125k on the clock now!
  21. Looking good Luke! What coilivers are they? I'm stuck between lowering springs or cheap JOM coilovers or nothing at all? Only want about 30mm drop as drive over a lot of speed bumps etc.

  23. I have no idea how you guys are getting that good economy. The best I can ever get is 38 (indicated). I get about 380 miles to the tank driving as fuel efficiently as possible.
  24. What mileage are you getting from the LCR, Luke? Its not killing me yet but I keep getting tempted to go hybrid etc! It looks like decent condition LCRs are almost impossible to find now. I think my next car may have to be post 2005 :| No idea what it would be, cheap turbo cars (not 1 litres) seem harder to come by nowadays?
  25. I think the time has come to start considering a diesel... I love my LC but doing 360 miles a week and averaging 35ish mpg is getting expensive. Diesel is cheaper than petrol ATM but I doubt that will last? The problem I have is I still want something quickish. Around 200bhp should do, but still after good economy. Budget would only be around £3k as I'm tight. How are the mk1 Leon tdi's?
