  1. I seem to spend a lot of time under cars so have been wondering how I can make my life easier. Has anyone looked into some form of hydraulic car lift? Something like a simple 2-post lift or these scissor jack types?...Not sure how stable they look. This type looks better as you have better access from underneath: http://youtu.be/moRAb63O72M
  2. Might have to try this on mine...
  3. Hmm maybe I should just move the rears to the front for the time being...
  4. The same Bridgestone Potenza S001's. I did wonder if to not mix?
  5. Soon need some new tyres for the front of my LC. Currently got Bridgestone Potenza S001's. Was looking at getting the same again or Continental Sport Contact 5's. Any suggestions? 225/45/R17
  6. Anyone got a standard front LCR brake setup for sale?
  7. Anyone else reached that point where you've had enough with fixing cars? I've never taken a car to a garage (apart from tracking and MOTs) and being the tight engineer that I am, I find the thought of paying someone else a lot of money to do something I could do myself quite hard! However, after some jobs I've done, I really wish it was someone else's problem...
  8. I considered this but they seem to sell for a lot of money?, whereas the Porsche calipers can be picked up for ~£250.
  9. Purchased some Porsche Boxster Rear Calipers for my LC (996.352.421 & 996.352.422) which I plan to use with 312mm discs on the front. I'm now stumbling across threads where people say they aren't any good and the piston size is too small? Should I go for something else? Dave EDIT: Oops, looks as if I've bought the wrong calipers anyway!: http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/the-definitive-brake-thread-for-8l-a3-s3-owners-and-other-golf4-platform-cars.96917/ EDIT 2: Note to self: Purchase Boxster FRONT calipers and reverse: 986.351.421, 986.351.422
  10. Still running the stock LC one. Is the LCR the same? If so, could be interested! On a side note, for several months now I have been hearing a noise coming from the front drivers side (I think) every time I go over a small sharp bump. The noise is nothing like I've hear before and very hard to descirbe. If you imagine hitting a socket set it sort of sounds like that. It's very short in duration and high pitched. I have had a good look around the car and can't see anything wrong...very frustrating!
  11. Went over to GSF and confirmed that the part does fit. It's the better Audi TT one (probably why it says not compatible). Just finished fitting them now. As always, what was supposed to be a fairly quick job turned into a total PITA! Noticed my anti-roll bar is split/rusted too =(
  12. Anyone know if these are the correct bushes for my LC? http://www.gsfcarparts.com/423vg0511
  13. I hate CV joints. That's the second time in 6 months I have replaced that damn boot (my fault purchasing a cheap rubber one last time...GKN now). They are such a b*****d to get off, broke my CV joint pulling tool in the process. All back together now though...I was trying to put the bearings in from the inside that's why they wouldn't go in!
  14. HELP!! Replacing the outer CV boot on my LC and decided to take the joint apart to clean and re-grease. Now I can't get the bearings back into the joint! Any tips?
  15. May of bought an FMIC, 2.5" DP and sports cat...oops!
  16. I've seen a noticeable drop in MPG on the leon too - definitely getting cold. On a side note, finally got round to replacing the rivets on the secondary air pump. So much quieter on starting now!
  17. So finally bought a new exhaust as the current one is rusting away. Picked up this toyosports system for a tad over £100 delivered! Not fitted it yet but build quality seems decent enough.
  18. Time to scrap my old Clio (currently the girlfriends). Its far beyond economical to repair now. Hoping to get around £100 for it scrap. Can anyone recommend one of these "we buy any car for peanuts" websites?
  19. I think for this reason alone it's worthwhile.
  20. True, I doubt you win either way in the long run...
  21. Any financial gurus here? I can't decide whether to fix for 3 or 5 years. I am leaning towards the latter on the assumption that the inevitable base rate rise will be larger than the difference? Dave
  22. Splashed out money on a new N75 valve and uprated DV in order to solve my "surging" issue. Turns out it was simply a split PCV breather pipe. Moral of the story, don't jump to conclusions without checking everything first! Now the car seems to of developed a new fault... Drivers side front door does not always open using the fob (all other doors do). If I lock the car again with the fob then I can open it straight after (with the fob). Thinking something may be sticking? Will get VAG COM on it and see if i've got any codes. The door can be locked/unlocked with the key in the door.
  23. Thanks Prawn! I am happy but had to replace the coil packs within the first 20miles after the remap! There was a mismatch of old ones and I'd heard they are prone to go. Fitted 4 new Bosch units and good as new. However, I also have a new N75 on order as I'm getting boost surges Again, apparently a very common problem and it hasn't been replaced yet. Dave
  24. Remap on the LC this Friday
