  1. I wouldn't be surprised to be honest, mid-engine, RWD, light...
  2. Not stripped them down, shouldn't be hard though. Don't forget you need to wind the pistons in to retract them! On a side note. Why isn't the Toyota mr2 roadster more popular? You can pick them up cheaply and I don't think they look too bad. Would prefer one over an mx5. I know there not the most powerful and access to the engine looks like a pita! Thinking of getting one for a project at some point...
  3. Oooh, what's the plan?
  4. Gone completely off the MX5 idea now - I'm after something a little more outrageous/quarter life crisis. I really want a Skyline.
  5. Found some great info here: http://www.goodwoodsportscars.co.uk/info.html
  6. This is what I have seen everyone saying. However, if the objective were to create a ~250bhp+ car then would it be more sensible to start with an NB 1.8 turbo?
  7. If someone were to jump on the MX5 bandwagon with the objective of turning it into a weekend toy/long term project (turbo conversion) what would be the model they are looking for?.... (A) :$
  8. Those jacks look very interesting. Any more info?
  9. Are S3's any good? (How long is a piece of string?) I'm currently having a pipe dream and thinking about purchasing a car just to do all the mods that I can't do to my daily. I've just purchased my first home and have ample outdoor space to keep one I really like my LC in nearly every way so was thinking of an LCR but then I thought if I'm hopefully running quite a bit of power (I have a target in my head around 350bhp) then I don't know how well it will be able to put this down. This is where the S3 thought came in although I really don't think the car has anywhere near the looks of an LCR. Body kit? Edit: ~2005 Audi TT (225/quattro) hmmm they are growing on me :$
  10. 210bhp, 238lb/ft I have a turbo back exhaust and FMIC to go on and I'm considering "stage 2" although I don't think I will get much more out of the stock KO3s?
  11. Best budget uprated clutch for a 1.8T? Using OEM DMF. Or should I stick to an OEM LUK one?
  12. This is still bugging me. The clutch still has plenty of life (as far as I can tell!). It's weird how it makes the noise with the engine on in neutral (when you press then release pedal - single clunk), but not when the engine is off. That definitely rules out engine/gearbox mounts I would say. Pretty sure its the clutch release bearing? While were on the subject, what's the best budget clutch to go for? I want to stick with OEM DMF but want something to handle my stage 1 remap and potentially stage 2 later this year.
  13. Anyone got any ideas on this? Could it be the clutch slave cylinder or DMF? The clunk appears to happen at around the biting point when releasing the pedal.
  14. I attempted my ARB bushes the other week but had to give up. The new bushes mean't that the bolts were too short to reach into the threaded part. The internet says this is very common and most people used longer bolts. I tried that, although I was using cheese bolts and managed to snap them due to the tension required to compress the bushes. Going to get some better bolts and try again sometime. Also, the bushes have a thicker part which must face towards the ground so you can put them in incorrectly if your rushing!
  15. I need some help, please! When I release the clutch pedal I can year a single clunk noise somewhere at the bottom of the engine bay on the passengers side. If I release the pedal slowly then its less noticeable. If the engine is off then there is no noise at all. I can reproduce the sound every time by pitting the car in neutral and pressing the clutch then releasing quickly. I can feel the clunk through the pedal. Searching the web seems to bring up this problem a lot but with no real answers!
  16. Really wish I bought an LCR now...Looking to go stage 2, brembos etc and for that money I could buy just buy an LCR?
  17. Anyone got some Brembo's for sale? (for the leon...)
  18. I just replaced both of mine on my Leon. I had side-to-side movement in the wheels when jacked up. Were a bit awkward to get off but did it in the end.
  19. Hmm I was just thinking the same. These are OEM Febi ones. The gap between the bush bracket and where it mates is quite large. I'll have to go measure them...
  20. Spent all day replacing the inner tie rods on the LC. What a pain undoing the inner rod! Hardly any room at all but managed it in the end. Just hope I got them tight enough in the end... While I was there I replaced my ARB drop links and also attempted the ARB bushes. However, I couldn't get the bush brackets to compress enough so I could get the bolts in. I tried a longer bolt but it must of been made of cheese as it snapped in half when trying to compress the bracket. Any tips? Use stronger, long bolts?
  21. Can anyone give me a quick run-down on good insurance companies for modified cars, please? Hoping to go stage 2 this year and want to be legal...
  22. This would go nicely under my car port...
