most businesses? most businesses? 500 quid is _not_ a lot of money to hardly _any_ business, especially if that risk is sold to them as an almost guarenteed return on investment. As already said, most businesses that would be in a position to sponsor in the local area would make that cash back almost straight away.

It's nothing to do with light sensors or anything - or at least it wasn't when that started. It was literally a safety feature to not have to remember your lights... doesn't do anyone any harm in the light. edit: this is going back to at least the late 80's

yet another time where i come in with the REALLY stupidly obvious answer first, everyone overlooks those.... Have you ever been able to turn it off from the switch? Most computers have to have their switch held in for a good few seconds before it does anything. Might just be one of those things where your switch latches so that if you dont switch it off at the PC switch then it will automatically turn on when you flick the wall switch. In other news, just do what I do and never turn it off, global warming can suck my balls.
