Not usually a crusader for health and safety, but I'm with Kris on this one; its a sign of a pretty poor craftsman who has that little respect for something that could do so much irreconcilable damage. I remember a guy who was fired from a metal fabricating shop a good few years back for smoking next to a rack of Oxycetalene (sp) cannisters. His defence was, "Its so unlikely they would blow up, I didn't see a problem with it." Rich

It might seem a bit of a piss-take, but Nick's post is actually as accurate as you need for it to be. Me, Joe Seddon, Andy Pooley and Matt Tupman used to spend whole days with the OS map, standing on a tall spot and saying "Whats that place over there like?" (probably pointing to some far away tor.) Finding the good riding spots was usually just as much fun as riding them. Rich

Its almost remarkable to believe the the rest of the world doesn't take us seriously anymore... Rich

Rationalising intelligent thought has been a new found fondness for me , classically identifying the reasons and undertsanding behind government and recognising the difference between policy and art. Children have this and many other abilities yet we choose to ignore many of the forthright talents in fileds such as crochet, fencing, amateur dramatics, jai-ali, tobacco manufacture and neuroscience. Without harvesting the ingestion of such remarkable talents in all dolphins, not just the young, we make mockery of ourselves and the nature with which we choose to define ourselves as NOT porpoise's. Dildo's and other sex toys manufactured for infants will become common place by the year 19M1/11, and preparation for this libertine lifestyle began shortly before tea time 16 moons ago. This will be our creed and our community, for we shall rise, as one, the democratic republic of Section7. Peter Haydon is a rabbit, and everything you do is a balloon. Stock cubes.

One word: Dartmoor. Some of the best competitive natural and training ground of some of the UK's top riders (Andrei Burton, Andy Pooley, Joe Seddon, James Porter, etc) Rich

I might actually go and watch that.... Rich

Hit the nail on the head there Joe: I'm not suggesting that Dan doesn't need to sort out his buisness plan post haste, but my point is that in expanding so quickly I don't think it'd be rash to say that he bit off more than he could chew. 2+2=Boosters Carbonique made quality carbon parts for a short period, most famously their two and four-bolt boosters. I've got a feeling it might be Lugdunum, but couldn't be sure. They certainly have some awesome spots out there. Riding was just phenominal, I don't think there was one move there that he didn't make perfectly. Rich

I hope that people will have the ability to trust me when I say I've only ever done anything for the good of this forum, and as Nick's said above, I wouldn't ever try and subvert the truth through any means. There are several reasons that I keep out of these threads, and most people seem to have been intuitive enough to spot them: As a moderator - in the same vein as the Tarty situation - I wouldn't like to contribute anything to these threads for fear of people thinking I was being unfairly biased towards any one individual because I ride for them. I'm probably (not being arrogant, just as far as I can see factual) the most visible moderator of TF in terms of riding and direct involvement with the trials scene: an enormous number of you have met me on rides and I probably release more videos than any other mod (or most of the SM's for that matter) and with that in mind I do always try and distance myself from topics like this (more than once I've chatted with other Mods and SM's about weather or not it would be a good idea to be downgraded, as in the Tarty situation). The other reason I suppose is that I've never had a problem with ordering from Dan. I agree, with the amount of complaints he's been getting, the boy needs to pull his socks up and start sorting things out, but I as I understand Dan has been going it alone with Trials-UK for as long as its been going, and has been working towards further expansion - things are always going to be difficult for him and I can't imagine he has a staggering amount of free time. I genuinely believe Dan has never intended to rip anyone off and I would try, as frustrating as it may be, to exercise patience. Remember, without people like Dan, and the Tarty boys, and Phill Williams, and supercycles, and all the other industry participants, there wouldn't be much of a scene in this country. Dan, get in touch on MSN mate and we'll have a chat about things, see if I can't help you out a bit. Hope everyone's happy with my standpoint here. Rich

Bristol! 15th Of November Saturday
Rich Pearson replied to EchoSam's topic in Member Organised Rides
Yep, you kind of need to think of the people who've had this day in their diary's for about a month and actually have other things happening in their lives around this. I'll be up on Saturday, if at all. Rich -
I'm fairly sure they won't let you, as they didn't let me film mine, but that might just be different sugeons in different theatres with different rules. Hope it all goes well man, you nervous at all? Rich

The thing is that as Rowan said, CLS kind of moved in a new direction which people weren't used to, much like the French new wave of film in the 1960's (yeah, I'm showing off, I know... ) and as soon as it had been done a few times, people get bored. I personally think you, Damon, Gaz M, etc, are all amazing riders, and I think the fact that you stand up for the style you ride and the video's you produce is amazing, but sometimes the whole 'superhero' attitude gets a bit tiring. Yeah, Craig and Neil both got masive props for their earlier video's because most peoples minds were blown by what they had accomplished on a bike; YOU ARE JUST AS GOOD AS THEM, but you can't expect us to all just go "Wow, thats the 55th time I've seen an over 50" sidehop, I'm still just as impressed as the first time I saw one." Keep making vids man, I've enjoyed them all so far, and I'm actually kind of glad to share a sponsor with you Just chill out a little and appreciate the good and the bad as they come equally. Rich

I've just watched steve's video actually, and I can't really see what was so "professional" about his editing compared to Danny's. I probably enjoyed Steve's vid more, but he didn't really ram it full of meaning and attitude, and like various area's of the muisc industry, attidtude means a lot to the TGS guys, so in making video's like they do, they're upholding exactly what they're all about. I say hats off to them. Anyway, leave it to MSN to carry on this discussion dude, otherwise I can see a tangent we'll be going off on.... Rich
-
Looking good dude. I've got some Echo urbans with proper four-bolt mounts if you'd like something a bit nicer up the front end? Rich
-
The thing is that the editing was actually pretty good: Danny (subconciously or not) used a lot of different meathods to encode meaning and effect into the video and establishing a mise en scene which is in sync with the cannon of other videos of this genre. Most people in the professional film industry (after they'd been shown a brief of what the video was trying to acheive) would probably have said the editing was pretty spot on. The riding was a bit boring though Danny, but each to their own. Rich
