Seeing as I and a couple of others are going to considerable effort to put a comp on soon that a whole lot of you will be attending, and hopefully a lot of the public will be spectating at, I kind of feel the need to have my say on this and have the right to be heard. 1st: Joe, Wayne and anyone else who feels the need to "make this personal" have issues that can be discussed outside of the trials world, but here you can leave it out. Your opinions ARE your opinions and you are entitled to them, but calling people a bunch of wankers is hardly a conclusive argument point. I have met both of you before and know that you're two of the nicest guys I've ever met, so theres really no need. 2nd: There are pro's and cons for every argument, and to some exent I agree with Joe, and to some extent I don't. As irrellevant as they are, my personal feelings towards MBUK and the Marty/ins are of very low esteem concerning trials. I'll wear what I want to wear and if you don't like it, you have no right to tell me not to, no matter if you are the people that got me into this sport and taught me most of what I know today. Trials and MTB in general used to be about being free; where has that spirit gone? "Who needs a reason when you've got a mountain bike?" Martin may feel that riding demo's brings him more revenue and gets trials seen more, but on the flip side, the whole damn universe can get into bike trials before the suits in government or any other position of authority start to take any notice, which is where consistant, well organised comps, with regular attendance and firm organisation comes into play. As comps and the organisations that run them begin to flourish, so will the money that people are ready to put into it. Why do you think mototrials is such a bigger sport? Because almost EVERY mototrials rider rides comps. You can have your opinions and bicker all you like, point fingers and rant at minor points; I havn't read MBUK this month so couldn't comment on the articles in question, but the important thing is TRIALS, not THIS part of Trials or THAT part of trials. I'd love to see a whole lot of you down at Exeter on the 9th, to come and have fun, to do what we love, and if everybody has no seat and wears tracksuit's, fine, if people are wearing skate shoes and have 100mm forks, fine. Just enjoy the sport, because the way a lot of people are going about it, its US that are killing trials. Rich
