Pyramids: Awesome game if you have some friendly rivalry going on and want to seriously screw your mates over. Everyone sits round a table. Take a pack of cards and shuffle. Deal five cards onto the table in a row face down; this is the base of your pyramid. Now deal another four cards in a row above the first five. Then three more (again, in a row, face down, above the first two rows), then two more above those, and then finally one at the top. You should now have a pyramid with five cards at the bottom, and one card at the top. All five cards on the bottom row are worth 2 fingers (the width of two fingers when placed next to a glass) of your drink. The four cards of the second row are worth four fingers each. The three cards on the third row are worth six fingers each. The two cards on the fourth row are worth 1 pint, and the last card at the top is worth 2 pints. With the remainder of the cards, deal an equal number to everyone at the table, with about six people playing you should have roughly five cards each. Then the game begins; the first card on the bottom row is turned over. If you have the same number card in your hand as the card that was turned over(so if a 3 of diamonds is turned over and you have a 3 of Spades) then you can nominate someone else at the table to drink the amount assigned to that row. Bear in mind, more than one person could have the same number as the card that is turned over and so you may nominate them, but they in turn might get you back. Or they might have the same number card in their hands as one of the big ones near the top, so could get you back later. Also, if two people do have the same card, they can gang up on one individual. Or if one person wants to they can split the load between several people. It has a tendency to get you hideously drunk and you make enemies so quickly. Just ask anyone who was at Prawn and Steves b'day bash a few weeks ago... Rich

I'm not really bothered if a thousand little kids decide to get into bike trials because of this, I care because it will make people take US more seriously. Town councils will HAVE to invest in trials parks, companies will get more attention and more revenue and will then possibly be able to lower their prices, and of course, the little old bint who always yells at me in the high street can finally be told to go to hell good and proper when I say, "Actually, this is an Olympic sport, so die." Roll on 2012. Rich. P.S. Still think the olympics is a ridiculous waste of money and the benefits of it are grossly outwieghed by the debts it creates, but meh, go biketrials! Woo! Wooooooooooooooooooo!

We're not doing this for people's conveinience of buying a licence, although if there are so many people who are ready to buy a licence for just one event of this nature then my faith in the trials world is greatly diminished as there are so many other amazing comps run almost weekly throughout the year that people SHOULD be attending. I do not know if this date is set in stone, but it is the best estimate we can give. Expect for the actual date to be fully 100% confirmed at least a month in advance of the actual comp, but all good things permitting, I see no reason why this comp should not go on for the 9th. And for the love of God, if you need a licence, TALK TO THE PEOPLE THAT HAND THE DAMN THINGS OUT! www.biketrialuk.co.uk Rich

Greetings all, Andrei Burton has been a busy little boy recently, the culmination of which being a Cologne style, indoor competition to be held in Exeter. The fomat will be thus: All the sections will be man made. i.e. cars, logs, skips, etc. The trial will start at 0900 for the white and blue routes. There will be 4 hours to do 3 laps of 6 sections. These sections will be run under BIU (bashguard) rules. Experts and elites will start at 1400 and again 4 hours to do 3 laps of 6 sections. These sections will be run with UCI (no bashguard) style rules. The will also be a warm up area for all categories The trial be held on the 9th of December. The trial is a one off and not part of a championship, and is being run independantly of BTUK. ANYONE can enter ANY category they wish, providng they have an ACU licence. EVERYONE must pre-enter. No entries will be accepted on the day. The event will take place at the Matford centre, Marsh Barton, Exeter. It is really easy to get to and there are loads of b&b's and camp sites near by. To Enter: Simply e-mail Andrei at burton_andrei@yahoo.co.uk or alternatively you can ring him on 01392 200 743 and ask for an entry form. Again this is a one-off event but depending on the success of this one more of a similar nature and format may follow, so please do come along and have a great day. Rich

I thin the phrase bing sponsored seems to have lost a lot of meaning recently. What most people get these days is more 'suupport' than an actual 'sponsor.' I will agree with Pete on the making friends issue. I've been riding with Leeson for the best part of three years now, and in return Clive helps me out here and there, nothing massive, just stuff to keep me going (the odd chain or pair of forks might appear in the post) so that goes ok. The other thing to do is just look at who would really NEED a rider, and then work on that. Tartybikes for instance have got loads of stock riders, and next to no mod riders. If you ride a mod, go ask them, they'll probably be more inclined to help you out than a stock rider asking for the same thing who may even be better than you. Its all about looking for the right place to be. Either way, I can almost certainly garauntee sponsorship if you do get it (and I hope you do) will be nothing like what you think it will be. People like Ashton and Hawyes are about the only ones in the country who make a full on living from this sport. Porter, Waynio, Danny B, in fact, pretty much all the top riders have some kind of alternative income from working a few days a week. Lots of luck, hope all thats helped. Rich

Expect a punch in the mouth from me next time we meet. Rich

Or you can just open the file in almost any editing program (Windows Movie Maker should be able to do it) and then render it as whatever you want. Rich
