An anodised surface is (basically) the normal surface of aluminium (aluminium oxide) but thicker than it would normally be and dyed to whatever colour. This is why you can get clear anodising which is where the extra thick Al2O3 simply hasn't been dyed. The thicker layer of oxide helps keep the metal in better condition and obviously the colour is much harder to scratch and damage etc.

It's probably best to do what Joe has suggested as anything people say on here will just be guesses, noone can be sure what the exact problem is without taking a look or hearing it themselves. Alternatively you could get a much more educated guess by ringing Hope directly. Number is in FAQ somewhere or their site.

Ummm YES! ALOT of heat is generated from the friction forces between the rotor and pads. Even if a little water is in the system that can boil and cause vapor lock which I mentioned earlier (caused by the water vapor taking up more volume than the water and locking the brake on, obviously not fun). To give you an example of how hot a disc brake can get, on my FR bike me and mates have gotten to the bottom of a hill and been able to empty 1 litre of water on it and still have it instantly evaporate!

Don't bleed with water, it will boil far too easily in a disc brake and you'll get "vapor lock". Use proper stuff and be extremely careful not to get any fluid on the pads or disc.

Where the f**k's my f**king phone Been in the post over a week now

Bought a mobile off of Nick last week but it still hasn't arrived, he had said when I bought it that he'd try his best to send it the next day (Thursday) and I'm guessing he must have sent it by Friday. I'm pretty sure he's legit as he has good refs and seemed like a sound guy on msn but I just want to check with him when he sent it and by what service, but he hasn't been on MSN since I bought the phone and was last on here on the 2 January just before I sent him a PM regarding the matter so he won't have received that yet. So if anyone has a contact number for him that would be great As for the RM I'm just wondering if they might not have delivered it because of the scaffolding and builders that are working on the extension for our house atm, the scaffolding is quite low so you have to duck a bit to get to the front door. I spoke to the builders earlier and they said that a RM van had come down delivered to one house then later another van (maybe the same one) came back but turned round at the bottom of the road (right outside my house as I live in a cul de sac) and went off again. I'm not so sure about this as I would have thought they'd have at least talked to the builders... And yes I'm aware there's been bank holidays over the weekend and monday but surely it would have come through by now? Cheers An anxious Shaun
