The point still stands, if it's not going to be suitable in comparison to what you're trying to get from it then it makes no difference in whether it worked for anyone else. But yeah, closed as you requested.

Is there a specific aspect you're trying to achieve or are you doing it for the hell of it? If you mention what it is you're hoping to see an improvement in i'm sure people could advise more accurately as to whether it is appropriate for you or not.

You reckon they'd want me to send the whole wheel? I know i should be asking them but meh, i also have the end cap stuck on the axle now and its out of the hub shell

Hello there, i know i should be ringing hope but i'm lazy and spent the day sitting in the sun and watching tv and now its 6pm on a saturday evening and they're inevitably be closed. Was playing on my bike the other day and the rear wheel appeared to keep slipping in the dropouts so i really tightened it up to try and keep it in place and then the freehub wouldn't coast at all. Engagements were fine going forwards but it won't back pedal freely at all. Took it apart and got the axle/freehub out but now it stuck out the hub because i put the endcap back on the axle etc etc Undid the wheel in the frame and it spins easier but not as it did. the freehub bearings feel as if they're catch or are egg shaped as they seem to hit resistance as you slowly sping the freehub round on the axle. Is this a common issue that can be fixed with a new spacer or something or will it need sending off?

Use pdf creator to save the word document as a pdf file. Open in photoshop/adobe reader and then save as a jpg Other methods are going to introduce a lot of unnecessary distortion in the image.

I'm going to be the first person to say it's purely dependant on your kind of style of riding and your weight. If its purely TGS style with 99% static moves then a decent grind and some nice pads like the phatpads or coust pads will do you great. If you fancy something a bit more all round then a lighter grind or smooth rim would be more beneficial as trying to learn manuals with a harsh grabbing brake is going to make learning a lot harder for you. Likewise, the heavier you are the harsher your going to want your grind really as it'll take more to stop you. Brakes that are fine for a lot of my friends i wouldn't even think of trusting on just a curbstone because i weight a little more than most of them.

Same, even if its just on the jump/street bike. EDIT: Just noticed your first post. Clearly your not illiterate or a robot so welcome to the forum!

Slap her!

Its a 24" bike that can be used for street or trials. I use my onza t-rex for bunnyhops and spins. Street frame? Not for everyone else.... but i make it what i want to. Over classification leads to differences and people always ridicule differences. Why create unnecessary hassle?

Not really, but i guess at the same time kind of. I mean, they're short so are within much easier reach of your pockets. Short people are usually more rowdy due to feeling they have to prove themselves. Short people are often deceptively strong too.

I know this is going to look like i'm trying to pick your posts apart after the other thread but seeing as how he said the computer was running he'd have a heatsink of some kind over the CPU so how can his hand slipping into the graphics card clip area cause static damage to the cpu? Seriously? It has a hunk of metal over it and the pins are all covered. In all my days of building computers in student houses on carpets in the lounge i've never once caused a component to fail due to static discharge. It's VERY rare for that to ever happen. Can you run through in a bit more detail what you've tried and where.... the way you describe it i can't tell if your sticking borked gfx cards in decent motherboards or what. If you've got a working graphics card in the problematic pc and you still get no image, swap the PSU's out like mr badger said. If it still isn't working but your getting the audio for it booting to windows it sounds like you've damaged your motherboard as well. The fact your getting it into windows suggests the hard drives, ram and CPU are all okay. Obviously any soundcard is fine because your hearing the startup tune. Are you sure you only snapped something off the graphics card? You didn't slip further into the machine and bash a capacitor on the motherboard?

I guess the only way is for him to try it and see. http://files.filefront.com/Call+of+Duty+4+...;/fileinfo.html There's the demo, see if your laptop can handle the thing and report back.

That's the thing though, he's already said it didn't pass the online test and given that they're compared to the requirements which are usually very untrue to whats actually needed to run it i don't reckon it'd be playable at all*. *By playable i mean over 25fps minimum on lowest possible settings. With regards to the original question... unfortunately that kind of laptop is very unlikely to be upgradeable in the graphics department, especially for just £50 or so. An xbox360 would be the cheapest option to you for playing COD4 as you should be able to pick up a second hand one now for around £80-90.

I'm just going to stand by my original reply i reckon.... Oh dear

But the source engine wasn't graphically intensive even when it was first released, and that was also 5 years ago. Games today have much more going on yet integrated graphics chipsets haven't really evolved at all. He doesn't have hardware powerful enough to play it, end of. Yeah it was unique and dominated the market for a while, but that was partially down to financial worries by AMD too. I wouldn't say they're re-badging it because it was awesome, more because they can milk money out of people purely for slightly more impressive sounding numbers without having to splash out a tonne in R&D. The new GT2** series cards are very different to the 8*** series anyway. There's always going to be something to push things forward in huge steps. The voodoo cards were the same back in the day and the ATI 9800's were the same. Given that the cycles seem to repeat every few years and alternate between companies it seems due for ATI to release their new range in time for DX11. You might not have to wait very long at all Do you even know what your trying to say any more or are you just trying to reel out as much crap as you can, regardless of whether it contradicts itself or not? http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-...-v1.21,752.html I wouldn't say cheap, given that 2 £300 cards get 24fps

Woman in the bookstore was talking to a colleague the other day and called her over to the computer to "come watch this awesome video". Recognised the song straight away from the other side of the counter and smiled as i watched their reactions. It realy has been a success and i'm so pleased for him. His future videos should be on every bodies radar now

Yarp, Leicester/ Loughborough are awesome There's loads of places to ride in Leicester, your practically tripping over them. The trains run between Loughborough and Leicester every 20 minutes Mon-sat and it only takes 10 mins to get there so any time is party time.... except from now as my rear wheel is buggered

Oh dear. Reduce the resolution but add AA? you do know that running that combination in 90% of games is actually harder work for the GPU don't you because of the amount of cycles processing the AA takes up? If it was a dedicated card running 256mb of RAM then yeah, go for the lower resolution and try some AA but this is INTEGRATED. It doesn't have the processing power for any kind of AA. My housemate has an 8800gtx with a q6600 (running at 3.8ghz) and it doesn't run crysis on high at 1680x1020 fluidly without any AA let alone a higher resolution with some. My heavily overclocked 4850 only just manages it at a constant 20fps at 1920x1200 and its a better card than the 8800gtx. Its been known for some time now that it's only the graphical processing power of consoles that are really holding the developers back. Take crysis as an example yet again. There was no intention of running it as a multi-platform title so the developers were able to go all out and make an absolutely stunning game. It STILL brings systems to their knees and it's been out for a while and we've moved onto a completely new generation of graphics cards. COD4 is a multi platform title and as such is far easier on pc hardware due to the developers intending for it to scale well for consoles. If developers knew the client base had better hardware they'd be able to create much better games (graphically) no problem. To say that developers can't push current hardware is again... very naive. See, yet another case of rose tinted glasses. Sure a few mates would be okay playing goldeneye... but with the choice of titles currently available for other platforms with better aiming, better controllers and better/faster graphics what's the point? Whenever you ask someone what made goldeneye so great they always say it was awesome but they can never pinpoint why. Going back to it now it feels sluggish and cumbersome to use and looks like someone just vomited over my nice new HDTV. It was great because AT THE TIME it was one of the first decent 4 player shooters that was easy to get the hang of playing. There's hundreds of games like that now. Fact of the matter is his laptop can't play it, yet your still trying to convince him it'll be alright... allowing him to waste his money.

I know, its other people that were trying to take advantage of the topic.

I know, i pride myself on it. They say children have the clearest mental reasonings because they're so free of pre-conceptions that become attributed and normalised over the duration of peoples lives. I feel liberated that i can think this freely and it brings joy to those around me. Still... no selling in new members remember

No buying or selling in new members please for those that struggle with reading... That means in your signatures too!! Please keep this as advice only, not a chance to flog your own gear off.

Similarly my friend landed the same way after bunny hopping his bmx over a piece of wheel height tape and broke his elbow. practically snapped off an entire piece of the socket apparently.

Everyone knows that the producers don't put realistic specs for their games. They recommend cards that would struggle on medium settings and the general public buy their product only to realise their machine is light years away from playing it on full. Saying it passes the specs so it can easily play is stupidly naive, unless you like playing it at 1024x768 with everything on low and with a framerate of around 12fps. My housemates system managed the minimum specs for crysis yet he couldn't even play it on minimum with a half decent framerate. In their day though the graphics were okay, now things have moved on and realistic environments are much more beneficial to the overall enjoyment of the game. Have you not noticed that your comparing unrealistic games with ones that have realism as their selling point, mario kart, goldeneye vs a modern day combat campaign? On low settings it looks crap and with a 2400xt you'll only be playing at 25fps with everything on low. Given that this laptop mentions nothing about a graphics solution it'll be even worse despite possibly managing to pass your requirements program. People look back on older games with very deep rose tinted glasses, and goldeneye is a perfect example. At the time, it was great... but jumping from modern gaming to busting out the n64 your only trying to fool yourself if you think its still great. It's not, compared to what we have now its average at best. The aiming system is crap, the controllers are whack and the whole thing looks like its made from bits of card wrapped together to form shapes intended to resemble heads. Given that this laptop has no onboard graphics solution it'll also be sharing system ram, given the average game nowadays uses a minimum of 7-900mb of RAM for textures alone that leaves barely anything for the rest of the game so he'll be dipping into the pagefile and it'll be stuttering everywhere whenever he turns around. The processor is the only redeeming feature on this machine, but given the rest of the sytem lets it down so badly for gaming its a moot point.
