As to how they found it, I have no idea (meant to answer that earlier) Unless you have a real interest in this you arent going to understand, start reading up on quarks and that should be enough to entertain/ bore you until the machine is turned on

Its been built to discover (ie actually find) proposed particles that must exist in order to explain why things have mass (as an example). Quite a few bosons are mainly what they are aiming for.

Talked about this so many times, it will be interesting to see the results. As for the "didn't they f**k a magnet in it?" question, im pretty sure one of the builders/idiots that did something with construction of the collider left something in the machine and it took them weeks to find it (i think it was a can of coke or something) as the whole machine is massive.

Yeah I own it, its pretty good very similar to old track and field games but they allow you to waggle the stick aswell. Loads and loads of events
