  1. They look great, I have ran a couple of sets of Cannondale Fatty R forks on numerous bikes. If they are anything to go by then these should be great forks. Have no idea where you could find a pair though!
  2. They look well set up as standard, and if your mate has already replaced the forks, bars and stem then you are laughing. So it's another vote from me to buy it and ride it and replace any parts when you need to. You could fork out a tonne of money on an inspired and not find that riding style to suit you. I know its off topic, I have a Monty 24" brakeless with great spec up for sale that's going cheap as it could be a great starting point into 24". Just another option you could look at
  3. If your're after power and performance and would like to stick with a disk brake, I haven't tried any disk brake that matches an avid bb7 with avid sd7 or ultimate lever, linear slick cable and 203 rotor. Alternatively you could try a front vee or magura depending on what mounts you have on your forks. My front brake set up is shimano acera vee, avid sd7 lever, odyssey linear slic cable and coust pads.
  4. No problem Dave, good to see you back on the forum! I have only just got back on here meself, I tried the 24" thing and it didn't really work so back to TGS on an adamant haha. Should be able to put together a decent set up off tarty, it is worth shopping around though because you can save money on the arms/levers if you look on ebay, google shopping, chain reaction etc. I think I will be using shimano acera, sd7 lever, linear slick cable and heatsink cousts. Vees are so good mate, theres less to go wrong and lower maintenance. Keep in touch on facebook mate will be good to ride once we both sort are bikes out.
  5. I've used quite a few different vee set ups, shimano acera are pretty good aswell worth considering aswell. Performance and feel at the lever will be down to set up.
  6. I have spaced out mechs and tensioners loads of times in the past to allow for a bigger chain. If you have 4 of the same size washers you should place them either side of the 2 jockey wheels and run a longer bolt through each. I have used the inner spacer that sits between links from an old chain loads of times. There are loads of ways of going about it. The only other possibility is to change to lower thickness chain.
  7. Its interesting to hear peoples views in this topic. The topic was more to discuss supplements than performance enhancing drugs. I was unaware that they do test for drugs at competition level but I am happy to hear that there is awareness of these substances and that the use of these substances is not tolerated. I do find it surprising that the majority of riders aren't very interested in diet and supplements and the benefits good nutrition will have on performance. However I can understand if most people ride for fun and are not overly concerned with progression. I'm sure alot of people use energy drinks as they are very mainstream, even if used just to wake up i'm sure there is an effect on performance. For the cost of a can of monster each time you go out you could buy a pre-workout supplement such as jack3d or no explode. These supplements won't turn you into a bodybuilder freak, but can give you a better kick than energy drinks. I'm not suggesting that everyone should do this, but it would be interesting to see if there are any benefits of using these supplements in trials. I'm sure that top level riders will take diet and training quite seriously, however at a competitive level I wouldn't expect a rider who was competing for the world championship to openly share their diet and training. More over, its often suggested that trials should be an olympic sport - i'm sure if trials ever became an olympic sport diet and supplements would fast become a significant role in getting the best edge in competition. Bodybuilding will always be a part of my life and I look forward to using what I have learned to see if it will help me on the bike. In addition to this I will continue to use multi vits, whey protein and BCAAs as I do beleive they contribute significantly to muscle repair and muscle building.
  8. Fair play, but if improving is part of the sport then diet and supplements could play a key role. Especially at the higher level in competitions? The topic isn't directly aimed at steroid use haha. Water and fruit should be part of a well balanced diet regardless, I was thinking more along the lines of supplements such as protein to speed muscle recovery.
  9. Up until recently I had not rode bike trials for around 3/4 years. I stopped for a number of reasons but lost interest when I started training at a local gym. Since then my interest in the sport of bodybuilding and power lifting has replaced bike trials. Now I am getting back on the bike, I was thinking how I can incorporate what I have learnt about training and nutrition to improve my riding. Of course people will say - you can only improve your riding by riding your bike. This is partly true - practice makes perfect! However, as with weights if you wanted to improve your 1 rep max there are many routines and different exercises you can complete which contribute to improving your lifts. Diet and supplements can play a very important role in reducing recovery time and building muscle. Additionally, the use of 'pre-workout' drinks can improve focus and energy during workouts. If people used these supplements would it improve their riding? Peoples perception of bodybuilding and weightlifting is that it goes hand in hand with performance enhancing drugs such as anabolic steroids. However it isn't just bodybuilding that is associated with performance enhancing drugs - there are many competitive sports that I can think of where people have been found to have used these drugs. Seeing as supplements and sports enhancing drugs are found in most sports, are they used in trials? If not what is the reason for this? Just wondering what peoples opinions of this are.
  10. One of the nicest 24s i've seen! Great build
  11. Pretty much made my mind up on my own after a quick google search! Theres no way I am chancing it!
  12. Haha already bent the forks, now has tryall brakeless forks Cheers Mike laa
  13. @Laurence--Trials: Yer its meant to be 25" but I have ran it with a 26" wheel using adaptors in the past @Revolver: I would love to know, would be pretty difficult to come across a 25" trials rim these days! @Luke Dunstan: Haha! I swear it has nothing to do with the brake mounts being in the wrong place @ogre: Tensioner is a Rohloff modified to just 1 jockey wheel and spring arm. @JD™: 25" mounts bud, It's on the to do list, already took the disk mounts/vee mounts off the forks, disk mount off the frame and disk mount off the pro2 The weight for anyone who cares is 9.4kg
  14. Thanks bud, its something like: Wheelbase: 1030 mm Top tube: 525.4 mm Chain stay: 400 mm Bottom bracket: 15mm
  15. Frame - Monty Urban Fork - Echo Urbans - brakeless Front wheel - Atomlab pimp on Echo TR Rear wheel - Atomlab pimp on Hope Pro2 non disk Tyres - Kenda K-rad Cranks - TrialTech Pedals - Welgo Bars - TrialTech High Riser Stem - BBB Headset - Tensile Saddle + Post - Unbranded
  16. Looks smart, Whats the bar and stem?
  17. Built a brakeless 24" using an old Monty frame I had, only bin out on it a handful of times so far though!
  18. Any links to the hub your on about? I have restored a handful of 70's Raleigh Chopper bikes which use the 3 speed hubs sturmey archer hubs, never had any problems they are easy enough to service and repair. If they are similar to the hubs you are looking at, they can withstand 30 years or more of neglect so I am sure they will hold up to your everyday use. As mentioned - the pickup is shocking!
  19. Boss video, cool as f**k group of lads with good banter! Looked like a good lads holiday, need more videos like this to be honest!
  20. Any links? This kind of riding is new to me and I would love to see more
  21. That was ruthless! If its possible to ride a fixie like this, just imagine what is acheivable with a 24" street trials bike
