That's about it, if you're using a dh tube and a dual ply maxxis tyre it's about the best puncture protection you can get. So I suppose the only other option would be to become smoother????

I'd change the choice to bb7 or hope trial if I was you. The red adjusters can be broken on bb7s, but you get nowhere near as much adjustment on a bb5 so you would therefore not be able to set it up as well = less power.
