  1. Have you ever thought about using a rear mech protective...er thingy! You find them on cheap'o mtbs. My mate at LBS saves me the old ones for free. I'll post pic if don't know what I mean. PS: Your post got me thinking, why don't trials bikes have horizontal dropouts?
  2. I found this page today explaining a Hope XC rear hub service, pics and good instructions! Check it out here: http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/fettling/hope_hub.htm Thanks again for the advice :)
  3. I'm sure you will hear Hopes are strong/great for trials...as I have myself. Not got one yet so can't give direct advice. If I had a CK though, I'd try my best to get it fixed considering the amount they cost and the mythical engadement! Good luck either what ever you decide :)
  4. Fair play on the comments guys, everyone seems to like Hopes a lot. I guess I was being a bit `I want` in my expectations! So I'm going for the Hope mono in a few days, my freehub ain't quite dead yet, so I'm gonna have a quick shifty before the wheel build happens. Any quick tips on keeping it running well, modifications, lube choice? Diagrams would be ace! :) (I have the hope site one) Cheers!
  5. Bad luck mate, thats gotta feel bad..... worried this will happen to me one day! I don't ride even in front of my house incase some little `scrote` gets ideas! Best of luck with the insurance and getting a new bike sorted (Y)
  6. I guess I was/am expecting to much, still a little dissapointed but if thats the best there is for the price range, well....tuff on me I suppose! In the end I'll prob get the Hope, just thought I'd be excited about putting this product on my bike is all! >_< Thanks for `bearing` with me on this...
  7. Oh` No, thats made things worse. (N) Is that really the best this sport has to offer us riders? If I had the money I wouldn't even buy a King as I read bad comments about them also! £285+ still with probs....HA,HA forget that! :S I've just got into trials and can't believe I don't hear more experienced riders pushing for a perfect hub. "Buy a Hope and send it back in a year...its great" :S >_< I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the advice, its just I'm really mad about this......but I'm not quite sure who I'm mad with. ^_^ I dunno ?
  8. Something like this little retard! AVOID at all costs!!
  9. Let the good times roll........
  10. HA, nice one man....I couldn't say it any better than that! I'll be watching tonight!
  11. Here is a list of hub questions bothering me at the moment, here goes. 1. I was just about to get a new Hope Mono rear hub, but then started reading about springs and pawls breaking and `needs to be serviced on a regular basis! Oil every few weeks, maybe....three month services, forget it!! £80 for that kinda hassle just does not seem right to me. Do I have bad info on this/ am I being a bit harsh? 2. Just reading about the DMR rear hub http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=6243 it looks good to me, I like the price....anyone got more info on this hub? 3. On my dirt bike I have Atomlab Hubs with disk mounts. As I'm thinking of putting a disk on the front of my trials bike, and my rear hub/freewheel is knackered....would it be worth swapping everything over to my trials bike...I know nothing about Atomlab engadgements/reliability?? 4. While explaining my knackered freehub prob to guy in LBS, he says `why not try an XT-freehub` £35, much stronger blah, blah......I was aware shitmano only did £12 crappy freehubs...I'm confused? Since getting in to trials I have been VERY dissapointed with hubs for this sport....what gives? Yeah we can get to the moon, but we can't develop the perfect trials hub?? Hope you can help me guys, the bitterness is setting in. Thankx  (PS: I need gears!)
  12. Hey Ian, I appreciate you don't want to pay for a new set of bars, but that sounds very dodgy man. I don't think I'd even ride my XC bike like that, never mind the abuse I put my trials bars through! It's great if it gives you extra leverage, but I'd be saving up for a new set if you like em that way. Be carefull, y'know :P :P
  13. Riding my BMX at speed along New Brighton sea front, bunny hops a 2 foot stone block. Caught my 60psi (solid) back wheel late, going over the block, flies over the handlebars and skids to a stop half a mile away :P I lost a lot of skin that day :P
  14. Zoo Monkey.......Thanks a lot man, really appreciate that advice. :P (Somebody validate this guy :P )
  15. and me! My pop works in a machine shop, gonna see if he can sort this for me!
  16. I think the silver one looks sweet! Although I just PS'd a gold version which looks pretty trick :P If gold where an option? Nice work Zoo Monkey! Looking for some advice on seeking PS work if you have any?? :P I,m totally jealous ash, bike is gonna look great!
  17. Dam, it was the ugly sister after all :P It works ok, I would need to get rid of the `toe-clip pedals` :P and find an old stem/bar and fork!!! , but for £100...I don't think so! Thanks for the advice guys, well appreciated.
  18. Hi, Going round to check this £100 mod out in an hour. Guy said it had triple clamp forks, leading me to believe its gonna look like the ugly monsters in the pic! :P (I hate that front end!) So......should I buy it? It will have maggies but still....its just so stinking ugly!!
  19. You haven't rounded off your chainring ring teeth have you?
  20. Greetings Ollie, and welcome to the greatest trials forum ever! :P :) So what have you learned so far, stuck on anything yet?
  21. Don't listen to scumbag  (sorry dude, I had to!) I think they have a reasonable setup for a beginner on a budget.
  22. No its not, all Chav's are scum! Jesus man, your defending them?
  23. Me neither! Hope things work out.
