  1. Paul make some nice cnc levers and obviously the avid ultimate levers are very pimp cnc machined, sealed bearing pivots etc, but both are horrificly expensive and offer no considerable performance increase over an avid SD7 or SD SL lever. But hey if you have the money then the pimp factor is pretty high.
  2. Looks an amazing set up, the systems in place to ensure that orders go out correctly must be damn solid, very very impressive. But have to agree, there's something really fun about working at a smaller shop.
  3. Intolerance maybe, but there's a constant stream of "intolerance" in your posts. Personally i can't stand how inept people are with bike maintenance and care, how people put things together terrifies me! Little had nothing to do with your age or size, that would be discriminatory. I'm 24.
  4. Sheldon Brown was God of the wheel building world (god rest his soul), i've used that website for everywheel i've built. Personally i find it clear to use and understand, the diagrams make life easier too. The best piece of advice i can give you, is once you know your lacing pattern and have it all laced up, make small adjustments to spoke tension and take your time over it all. Good luck
  5. Depends what the item they were supposed to be lubing was. A chain yes, oil. Bearings, bushings etc grease. Mouthy little c unit aren't you.
  6. I'll put it this way, when i was running an avid ultimate vee set up on my 07 control (the one with the big cn in-built booster) there was a large improvement in the holding power you got from running a booster on the top aswell. Yes it didn't look as clean, but the brake performed noticeably better.
  7. Granted the Rohloff is probably the best tensioner you can buy new. But i still think if you can get a 74kingz spend a few quid and 5 minutes on a steel ruler spring you'll get a better tensioner. Decent, consistent tension, out of the way, doesn't mount on the mech hanger. Sorted.
  8. Aye never use anything but sram chains for the MTB. Seem to shift better than anything weather you're running a Sram or Shimano block.
  9. Using a steel ruler is hardly a bodge, its a marked improvement on the original springs. Its more impact resistant, has just as much natural spring and you can fine tune the length of the spring. It's fair enough if you consider it unworthy of your bike, i wouldn't say my bikes were cheap either, but you've spent money on an inferior product and ignored the advice of several more experienced and knowledgeable riders, just seems a little naive when you've posted a topic asking for advice on the subject.
  10. Ok so you're blaming a brake booster for stripping your maggy mounts threads...... not the person tightening up the bolts? And your solution to this issue is to drill and tap your frame and mount the booster on this? Some people shouldn't be allowed near a bike with tools.
  11. Welcome to the sport Exeter is a good location to start with, some reasonable riding in town and with Dartmoor and several other great natural riding sports only a short drive away you're sorted. Get yourself a bike and come out to one of the group rides organised in Plymouth. Next time we organise to have a ride on dartmoor i'll give you a shout and drag you along, just get yourself a bike!
  12. The 74 kingz would have been fine if you'd just gone and bought a 6" steel rule and cut and drilled to the right length. Rowan has been using a steel rule spring for ages and advised me to use one and i sorted one for Luke. Having used one on my stock and my 24" for a while now with no issues for any of us, personally i think you just wasted your money buying a new tensioner.
  13. Lube- lubrication. As far as i know grease is a form of lubrication. Shut up.
  14. Got to agree on top is the way forward, get lots of flex from the adaptors and pivot posts. The increase in hold you get from putting a booster on top is awesome.
  15. Cant see why it wouldn't work, but you'd most likely need a booster on there. The DX32 should be fine as you're running a vee .
  16. Good find Rich, some damn good riding, nice stuff
  17. Looks awesome mate, tempted to go dual maggies myself.
  18. Pete you will never get a clean slate, i honestly don't know why you've bothered. It's like Saddam asking for a clean slate after he was captured.... to much was done, never going to happen. Stick to OTN.
  19. Lets be honest Charlie, we're going to get hammered and then try and ride with a stonking hang over it'll be amazing as normal.
  20. Nought at all, merely stating the fact they were. Your point being?
  21. Yeah the silver one got a little battered. Well it was a lot lot smaller and only one....... now its bigger But hey, i'll get one of the production frames with no internal hose routing and with the thicker top tube and all will be fine.
  22. Defo lads, need to get it sorted, Portland some time? Ha, cheers Tom, you know always changing stuff really liking it, same sort of length as a 4 finger lever but a nicer shape Cheers for all yours comments lads.
