  1. I don't think its really a question of us feeling responsible for the environment as 'trials riders' - we should be responsible and aware of it as human beings, and people in general. The eco-friendly argument is endless and often very uninteresting to many - of course it is a massively important issue but in todays world of ever increasing political correctness, and health and safety extremeties, the eco-friendly argument tends to get lost in a pile of modern 'buzz words' and current trends. Of all the things we do as humans in everyday of our lives, i think the effect were having as trials riders is so obseenly minial its almost irrelevant ''almost''. For many riding our bikes is something we do when we can for a relatively small proportion of our time - twin that with the fact that trials is a pretty small sport that only a small number of people participate in - i find it annoying for any guilt to be placed on me doing it. Im as environementally concious as i can be, i used to recycle when i lived at home, but now at Uni i live in an area which doesnt provide it and the nearest recyling areas are a good distance away (which would require driving too) - so which is the lesser of 2 evils, do i not recyle (save the car journey), or do i recycle and polute the atmosphere with my emisions... Eco friendly attitudes and behaviours need to be something we can incorporate into our lifestyles with minimal effort - i would never allow it to be of a detromental effect to me, in the sense that i got so overly concerned with what my individual effect was having on the atmosphere that it completely took over my life. I recently passed my driving test and shortly will get a car, i wont use the car for journeys like going into town, but i wont feel guilt for using it when i need it, it is something i need for getting home, getting materials for my uni projects and so on...and to think every time i got into the car that i should feel guilty is just not worth thinking about. Everyone as individuals should do there part if possible to help out and to make the world a more eco-friendly place to live, but to appeal to us as trials riders i think is stupid - its an almost dumbing down of the issue - its a massive global problem that shouldn't be segregated into such things as leisure activities, especially ones such as trials riding which is as fairly eco-friendly as it gets...i fail to see that exact point you are making by posting the argument here....?
  2. It looks really messy. I agree that the font is bad, overlapping images is hard to make look good, where the faded images front wheel cuts across his back on the main image looks bad (in my opinion) - the idea for the image is cool enough i just don't think its reached its upper most potential or fruition. The main image of Patt is one i really like, i think it should be the main focus - it should be further enhanced rather than kinda 'dirtied' by further imagery - it takes away from the visual impact of the first one..........i dont want to sound overly negative though - as it was a nice enough attempt and a decent concept!! Good effort, Matt.
  3. 11.30 ish? Im coming from town so if no one is arriving from the train station ,could meet somewhere easier? I dont mind.
  4. Thursday's good for me....... not too sure what the weather will be like?
  5. No one who's local to Nottingham fancy a week day ride then? Perfect break from Uni stresses............
  6. Anyone whos around fancy maybe the Tuesday or Thursday after that weekenbd aswell? Im away at the weekend so cant make it then.....
  7. Bike looks great, but im unsure of those forks on it!! I'm curious how much does 6 weeks weight weigh?
  8. The company are annoying me now, they don't answer anything - they're vague with answers, and dont give quotes or available colours. They say they do free collection and delivery but told me to just post it to them. I sent you an email about powder coating a day or two ago.......... Cheers.
  9. The company is called Powder Coatings LTD, http://www.powder-coatings.ltd.uk/index.php theres the website if you fancy a look!
  10. Its 6061 - T6. I think they only asked, becasue when i asked for a quote i mentioned slow baked ovens, so they're probably just making sure/being polite. Thanks a lot for your reply.
  11. I'm not messing around, i'm more than happy to get it done, the company asked me to let them know what the frame could withstand, so i thought if someone had some idea it may help them out - i don't understand how me answering the companies quiery results in replies like this.
  12. Yeah but if its done in a high bake oven it can weaken the tubing, and it the company can choose the temperature at which to bake it, it would reduce the chance of causing any damage to the frame.
  13. I'm looking at getting my frame powder coated, i asked the company who are going to do it whether they use slow bake ovens as im unsure of what temperatures my frame can withstand, and the company have asked me what temperature my frame can go to!? I have a stock Koxx Levelboss (Strange seatube one!) and i was wondering if anyone knows what kind of rough temperatures the frame can withstand as i dont want to weaken or melt my frame!! Any feedback would be much appreciated by anyone who has an idea! Thanks a lot, Matt.
  14. Theres probably better stuff to ride out at Notts Uni than in the city, i've been there once but didnt get a chance to really have a good looka round...its a fair way to ride from the City too on a little trials bike.
  15. That guy with the horn - what a twat! Did well not to fall off, look like he pooped himself a little bit. A very cool, smooth style, the main thing that comes across is that he just really enjoys riding and is having lots of fun not measuring how high hes jumped.
  16. Im free a lot of the time, gap year from Uni, sorting the bike out after the weekend, so cant do before then, then away next Tuesday to pick up my Kona, anytime after that, and when the other guy has his bike sorted out i guess............?
  17. I'd say that i lived a bit behind the Victoria centre, but truthfully im just on the edge of St Anns. Wouldnt choose to live there, but whilst im at uni it will do. Would love to go for a ride, i need to get a lot better, and i don't seem to be improving all that fast on my own.
  18. I go to Trent Uni so im living in Nottingham at the moment! Im living in the City, rather then out towards Notts Uni.
  19. Although mine are pretty tough, at the beginning of the summer mine began to ache and would swell loads, they filled with blood and puss, so cutting them off with a scalpel helped, even under the entire callus the skin was still pretty tough so it wasn't like going back to soft skin, it just cut off the majourity of the thing that was causing the pain. Sometimes its good to re-grow em, you get the chance to have better ones second time round!
  20. Do you ride competitively? No Do you perform maintenance whilst out riding, either to fix something, or fine tune it? Yes Do you currently have a workstand? Yes Is it portable? Foldable/collapses, but not that portable Can you drive? No If yes, what kind of car do you have? N/A How do you transport your bike in the car? Boot Do you carry a number of tools with you? Yes When working on your bike, do like them within reach, say on a tray attached to the work stand? Yes
  21. Do you know any good spots around Notts then? Im living here whilst im at uni, and other than around Trent Uni theres not much in the city i know of.........
  22. Do you ride in Notts a lot? If you go around the corner from that ball theres some cool stuff to ride around the Uni campus, also if you follow the lake around theres some cool stuff, theres some gap jumps over some rocks/stepping stones that go across the lake! I've only ridden there once, and would like to go bak, but its a long ride with no speed and 22:19 gear ratio! Crazy bike though....... shooters were always questionable, they were like one of the first do it all bikes (with a few changes it could be a trials bike/bsx bikes/jump bike..............
