  1. Cheers, ebay and a student loan have been good to me!
  2. Some shots of my music room.....
  3. Yeah, i also think more people should have a go at it themselves. Unless they have no creativity what so ever, most people know what they want and even with mediocar computer skills you can kncok up something pretty cool. But for that really great, fresh looking piece of work its worth getting the right person in. The main problem is though, that most people mean 'typography' when they're asking for a logo, to create an entirelly image based logo is far more difficult then a stylized piece of text. Anyway.... its all about giving the person paying what they want!
  4. Those sort of logos are really common and i guess for the most part would suit most people - but they dont represent the brand - sure they say what it does and they serve a purpose, but something like that you shouldnt just jump on a computer and throw it together. If whoever you did them for was happy than thats ideal but i couldnt be happy giving work to a client in that manner. Theres some manny shitty stuff out there, and when you see a well worked and cleverly designed piece it really does stick in your mind. Those logos are all instantly forgetable, by the time its taken me to type this i cant even remember them, and thats not something anyone wants for their business. 12-14 days is a really short amount of time when you break it down to what you are actually doing in that time.
  5. 3 Logos.... thats quite a lot. it does take some time, you have to research the (your company) get an idea of your brand, the intended user/consumer. get a breif/spec together, get some brand values some lifestyle affiliation boards together. Then theres initial concept drawing and photography where you have to compile loads of ideas, get the approved by youself, then further 5 or so possible ideas for each of the logos, then finalize all illustrations. For 3 logos i'd say 12 - 14 days at least to be honest, to have them done to a high standard, not just rushed. A logo has to represent your company, have subconcious connotations through its imagery and colour usage, so to achieve the highest possible standard i would look at that time frame.
  6. I'd say (maybe arrogantly) being a musician is different from someone who just plays the odd bit of guitar (or some other instrument). I see a musician as someone who composes, absorbs themselves with music and is a true passion for them - i;d say someone who plays at home or just for a bit of fun is a (insert instrument) player?
  7. I'm currently working as a freelance Graphic designer in my placement year from Uni so what im charging is greatly discounted, however my quotes are worked out at average rates, so for 3 weeks worth of work you're looking at paying between £1000 and £1500 just for the branding - and thats working for just £6.50 an hour, obviouslly you ad don materials, software and overheads. Try and find someone like me whos a student - you pay less, they're usually a more creative and free and also they're happy to work for less as its good experience and good for your portfolio.
  8. I'm a musician. heres a link to some of ym music, and music made with various other people. www.myspace.com/matthewcurrie www.myspace.com/aparallelsphere www.myspace.com/elefoe Hope someone finds it enjoyable!
  9. Why have you taken the Hopes off front and back? I can guess why with the back...but why the change to an Avid? I really hope those wheels were nessecery rather than you just didn't like the red. Either way as always you have very nice looking bikes.
  10. Jimi hendrix into John Frusciante with a hendrix inspired song.... beautiful touch. Brilliant videos, really fun to watch and a refreshing change to the one move/next clip style video. Some wicked riding, with some very cool styles - looks like you guys have an abundance of good places to ride aswell. Really loved the videos - wish there were more like it!
  11. 4 boxes..... two are made out of two boxes put together (possibly referring to them as doubles..why else would he have said ''the biggest SINGLE box'' - indicating that there are different types of boxes.) Also out out the two single boxes the 3rd one along is clearly higher than the second. Not that any of this matters... just more Trials Forum sizist banter.
  12. The biggest single box is the third on the right. The first one is two boxes on top of each other. The biggest single box is about 20inches high - im sure he can make that!
  13. Get a lower rise stem. I've just put on some Monty bars which i've extended and they do feel quite high, but they're more fun to ride with compared to my old set up, of flat bars and rubbsh try-all 150X30 stem. I've got some of those Raceface bars on my freeride bike, and they're not significantly lower than the monty's, i'd undestand if you'd gone from flats to Montys like me, but i'd suggest just giving yourself some time to get used to them. The sweep on them defenetly will help with shoulder pains, but just shift them forward like suggested to lower the rise a little.
  14. No. Whats wrong with those two anyway?
  15. Am i missing something? It is white! If you re-paint it white, it will look white still but without the scratches. Do you not have any picture of when it was originally painted white? IF you do...thats how it will look!

  17. Not the best quality of pedal in terms of bearings, but the Kona Jackshit pedals are massive - i find them overly big for me (at size 9) so for the larger foot it may feel pretty good!?
  18. You could just photoshop it yourself, and give the file to one of those Canvas printing companies and get them to do it. Sure it's not in paint, but its not like its an original image, your just copying a photograph - maybe even masking it out. This thing is being overdone to death now - everyone seems to be doing it as it requires no talent, they're cheap to knock up and you can make easy money from it. To me that moves it so far away from being a piece of art...those photoshopped pictures had far too many layers in them anyway - so they wouldnt even come out like that. it seems a real bastardisation of art...but possibly a good bit of business.
  19. Same here! Really would love to see this!
  20. Seriouslly though, all joking aside how many bikes do you have? The only reason i ask is at this rate there won't be any left for anyone else and you'll be the only trials rider. Are you a collectomaniac? P.S. I dont like your bike, the MBK/Echo is/are nicer.
  21. Always nice to hear Devendra Banhart. Can't really comment on the vid as they're wasn't too much to it. But it woud be nice to see a full length one with some varied riding.
  22. I did what BSM call an intensive course, and that was 6 hours a week, so 2 hours Monday, Wednesday and Friday, any more than that i think it would have been too much. Judging by how long everyone says their taking it seems rediculously short...17 hours? That seems very quick. They say the average hours needed now is two and a half times your age...that can seem like quite a lot, but failing a test because your not ready is a waste of £50/£60 and then another 6 weeks waiting for another available test. Just take as many lessons as you feel comfortable with and go for your test when you think that you are ready, no point rushing it as you'll have the rest of your life to drive. I've recently passed in the last few months and already lessons seem a life time ago so dont get bogged down with them as they're not much fun as you feel so much more pressured in a lesson then once your driving when you've passed. Everyone learns at different rates, the one thing is try to find a good instructor that works well with you, i was very lucky with mine. I passed first time with the 6 hours a week thing, my girlfriend had a dodgy instructor in my opinion and did 1 or 2 hours once a week and took three attempts (all silly things failing for) and both of our tests were in Nottingham (if that makes any differance).
  23. Surely if you've got the internet you can go on their website. And even if you're frightened to speak to people on the phone you can do it all online. (As you would know if you loked at their website).
