Halfords are being bastards and trying to puch sales of garmins over tom toms as they get more profits. Basically the tom tom suplier are pissing halfords around, and halfords dont like it. I personally think its completely not fair to the customer, and even though when i worked there i could get £7 for selling a garmin, and nothing for a tom tom, i would still recomend the TomTom because i believed it was a better unit. I do not lie to customers this makes me a good and bad sales man lol. the customer gets what they want and honest advice, which is what i believe they should get, not mindless drivel the company wants to sell them. same goes with bikes, i would never reccomend a cheap shit £80 appolo special, i would always urge the customer towards the next model up at £150. not because it is more expensive, but becuase honestly was a 10x better bike.

not to sure whats out there right now, but was workign on the audi section in halfords until the latest gen sat navs were realeased. TomTom's are chuffing ace, reliable and stupidly easy to use. Garmins are a close 2nd, tend to come with more features for the money but can be fiddly. NavMans arent usually too bad, but i just don't get along with them. Head into halfords or similar and have a play.
  4. I got the DVD too. We watched it last chemistry lesson of school, Teacher loved it lol.
  5. Hell yes, A frigid fit bird is rather useless really, whereas a sex crazed willing-to-try-new-stuff ugly bird is likely to be much much more fun. EDIT: i would like ot point out, that i was just answering poopipes question. In a relationship, while sex is an important aspect, it shouldnt nessesarily be the main focus of the relationship, so there will be give and take.
  6. I agree with poopipe. Relax, and give it ago. Edit: On second thoughts, before you do, talk to her tell her why you feel uncomfortable and make sure you each know each others boundaries.
  7. Is it actually going to exert anymore force than most decent diskbrakes? I have very rarely if ever (don't remember one) been in a situation where my diskbrake has slipped before my tyre (or lifting the back wheel off the ground and having to ease off brake for safety!) I think its just silly, it looks very heavy, and complicated. 4 pistons is enough to distribute load across pads, any every hope 4 pot ive had has never failed to dissapoint (ive had enduro 4, M4, and mono M4). I also love my C2 and mini, but have had a couple of probs with the mini. Mono minis just don't work though.
  8. I use only 5.1, probably doesn't make much of a difference, but for something like brakes (on bike or car) why skimp on it? Even if your so stupidly unlikly to need the benifits, its nice to know there there in reserve kinda thing.
  9. Very true, i do very much agree with the regret what you have done not what you havent. In fact i do try to live by it. At breakfast i did think about doing exactly what youve said. (not at breakfast lol, just thinking about it over breaky). In that case i will wait till next week, as there moving house this weekend, and she seemed a little stressed this evening, there mum was upset about somthing.
  10. Update: i was correct, twas a rebound. She has told him shes not interested, still gettting over ex, is confused ect, so im glad it wasnt me that night, and that ive kept quiet. I think i may keep it under wraps for a little longer, see what happens. Shes got a lot going on atm, moving house, its nearly christmas. maybe new year would be a good idea.
  11. Dont have tv, but sounds like it might be "look around you" If it is, then watch. Pure class comedy, complete mickey take of 1970s school science vids.
  12. You make a good point Tori, personalaity for me is the biggest factor when deciding if i would like to have a relationship with a girl, looks are a bonus. however, if were talking about a "what if" situation, or purely for visual admiration, then surely were allowed to be a bit more picky on the physical side of things?
  13. I see the logic behind pregnant girls (hell i did it with a large girl for the experience), but a pensioner? there really is somehting wrong with you!
  14. sweet. shame i couldnt get there. family get together.
  15. Im another vote for german here, nick picked his A3 up for not a lot of cash, and its lovely. get something a bit bigger, A4 for example shouldnt be too much more and should be very solid. I personally prefer older cars, and classics but obviously that isnt practical. If i had that much cash i would probably be tempted to 20vt a mk2 golf lol. for you stick with something known. Find a repmobile with good service history and you should have thousands of miles of trouble free motoring.
  16. Hope sport/mono/mono leightweight/xc all have 21 EP Bulbs and biguns have 36 Unsure abotu the newer range. A batch of GT hubs had 36, most seem to have 24. I woudl post a pic showing why they dont last long (i have a broken one on my desk) but i cant get the pic onto computer unfortunately.
  17. Oh yes! I started when Hope xc/mono hubs were the only choice for trials Zeros and pashleys were the only frames to have Everyone drilled everything ( i do mean everything, one of the old salisbury riders had a pash with extra drilled booster, drilled rear mech, drilled bashguard ect.) but there frame to make the bike as light as possible! When the chris king hub first came out over here everyone wanted one but noone could afford the £360 for one. If someone did manage to get one everyone worshipped them like a God.
  18. JTM, my system is as follows: HU: Sony, cant remember model number. Has 3x 5v preouts, one of which is dedicated mono controllable sub out. Is a higher end sony. Amplifiers: JBL GTO 75.4 (front and rear speakers) Mutant 2 channel something (250w rms bridged at 4 ohms for sub) Speakers: Front: Infinity Reference Components, 17 CM. Tweeter in dash mount, where facotry speakers are (mk2 golf) main drivers in door pods. Rear: JBL 6"x4" factory replacement coaxials (std rear placement, shelf side supports) Sub: JBL GTO 10", 300W RMS. In bandpass enclosure. Setup: from what i remember, sub its set at 250hz cut off. High pass on front speakers comes down to about 100hz High pass on rears to about 200hz. Having the reas does drag my soundstage back to some extent, but not enough to pull it behind my head. I feel it completes my soundstage, smoothing everything out. most things sound as if there infront/to the side, except voices which are definately in front. Oh, and for reference, i managed this setup on £200 + 2 half decent bike wheels, some cranks, and some cable disk brakes.
  19. Now, i don't want to open a big debate here, but i would personally keep rear speakers to some degree, ie upgraded in OEM location. While a lot of audio purists say you don't need it, i find in my golf it does sound better with them there than not, it is most noticable in how it affects sub separation as my sub is in the boot. On some tracks, if i have them faded out i find it very easy to hear the sub behind me, and everything else in front, now people say this shouldnt be the case as sub is undirectional, but that is only true to some degree, but i can "find" a sub with my ears, especially as i let mine play fairly high (cut off at 250hz). With the rear speakers faded in the soundstage is improved and somehow more balanced. the sub blends in much better, and instruments sound as if there in a semi cirlce in front of me, and to the sides, with voices dead ahead in the windscreen due to good tweeter placement. Nick will verify that on a good vocal track, you will feel surrounded by music, yet the voice aims straight at you and feels liek it just flows through your head. such a nice listening experience. This is just my opinion, and maybe a unique characteristic of my car, as i agree a good front set up is more important, i just find my rears actually add to my soundstage, rather than ditract from it.
  20. Sounds like an awsesome plan. I would like to remind everyone of the TF party idea thread!
  21. Right, pretty good advice so far. What you do depends on budget, as has been stated HU is the place to start. good make, pioneer or alpine recomended, sony JVC and kenwood are not too bad right now (sonys HUs are definately improving) but i would only touch there higher end stuff. I wouldnt touch any other makes unless i was doing a budget build. (ect stuff like nakamichi). Keep it simple, and look for future proof and upgradeability of you system, so 3 preouts if at all possible. Upgrade HU -> Upgrade factory speakers -> amplify factory speakers/ add a sub -> which ever you didnt do last time -> custom speaker enclosures for bigger speakers/better placement ect. thats is a rough guide, steps can be move around or jumped if you have knowledge or doing a full build in one go kinda thing. Ive experimented a lot in my golf, and im finally happy. Origonally used a line dirver with my mp3 player as HU, and a cheap HU for the radio. first with facotory replacement speakers, was a bit shit, but better than 20 year old radio and perished speakers. then put some 6" subs in the rear shelf free air, gave a bit of bass but distorted is the volume was turned up (due to no enclosures). then i got a 10" jbl, and amped up facory replacement speakers. thought it was the nuts, but was still missing mids as the front speakers wer 8cm jobbies. then upgraded HU to a sony one (a good sony one, i got it as a bargain ex display deal), didnt notice any difference as i was still using line driver. made pods for 6.5" door speakers, and removed line driver as mp3 player broke. re set the system up and my god its amazing. seriously good soundstage, with nice components up front, and only little rear speakers (i like have some rear sound to help stop sub seperation, and for passengers on the rare occasion i have them). the 10" really drops and kicks. nick Prawn will testify to the sound, hes the only one on here whos heard it in its latest incarnation. Best bit is, all looks facotry now. no holes in shelf, facotry fit rears, and front pods blended into door pockets. jsut got to finish the boot build now. got my amp rack on the right, just need to build the sub fluch on the left so i have more useable space.
  22. 1) Cheers for confirming that thought Tori- 3) was my origonal plan, but seeing 1) happen wa sliek "wtf is happening here, this shouldnt be happening" so got my head very messed up. 2) i realy would liek to do this, and i know not all the answers are available. Trials Punk also makes a good point, i need to be sure and it may pay to wait a little here too.
