Pretty impressive! I don't know how you guys do it. The best I've ever done in my CRX is about 45mpg and that's a really light car (plus it's rarely loaded). Probably something to do with it having a close ratio gearbox and no proper overdrive. Recently did 35mpg on a full tank which was the worst result ever - and that was all down to doing an average of 110mph over a distance of 70 miles. I'd probably be lucky to get 30mpg on the Autobahn. Pretty hopeless.

Each of their own I guess, it's just really hard to switch from a rock solid brake to one of these. It's a fantastic front brake, just not too good on the rear in my opinion.

U R TRYING TO BE LIKE THE CIRCUS BUT YOU FAIL Sorry for the ot. edit: @ the whole dyslexia thing... I often find that such people just take much more care to check their posts and actually make less mistakes than others. I think you're just being lazy. If it's that difficult, install Firefox and use the spell checker that's provided with the browser. And don't forget to switch from American else you'll be crapping all over the British spelling.

Stop teasing us and release a proper long vid Mental jump though

I love these frames. Both the stock and mod are amazing to ride, and they look fantastic. But yeah, the original paint job looks better. Still a really nice bike though!
-
Mod or stock? If mod, listen to Partz. If stock, listen to me Don't get one. Get a Hope instead. The BB7 has adequate braking power for the rear wheel on a 203mm rotor but only when you have big leverage at the brake lever (ie. an SD7). That makes the brake too spongy to use. Used to run a BB7 on the rear, then got a BB5 which was better but still useless. It all depends though, if you're a technical rider and don't need a strong rear brake then I guess it's ok.
-
Probably the park bike, I don't think they make other hardtail frames. Nice riding but that frame is just way too short for proper trials. He looks silly gapping it.
-
Meh, don't get it either. The forks are really heavy too. Haven't had much experience with front rim brakes but all the setups I've tried were really stiff. What's the point? Not doing it for me, Trialtech forks all the way.

Have you actually seen the shape of these cranks? It's more likely the I shape will rape your ankles than a few tucked away holes. The Echo CNC cranks were never ankle friendly but adding holes in a fairly inaccessable area won't make things worse. And as Phil has pointed out, the strength of these cranks hasn't been compromised but 50g have been saved. That's what clever weight saving is all about.
-
Wooo, need to find out more about these.... edit: on second thought, this is probably just hand made isn't it? My mate recently started making square holes using some kind of machine (not CNC) and they looked fairly similar in quality.

Been a while since I posted a vid so here are two from summer of 2008. 1st one starts off with a bit of natural, then urban in various cities around western Poland. 2nd one is basically other stuff that didn't fit the first vid in clip length or content Inur Summer - Beautiful Things Inur Summer - Virtual Insanity Enjoy and leave a comment if you like it

Shush I've only sold 1 mod since 2006, the Python I still have and don't intend to let it go. And the Like broke. You don't complain at Tart changing his bikes every few days now do you Incidentally, I wonder what he does with his bikes? Sure doesn't look like he's selling them anywhere?
-
Watch some flatland vids and you'll find out Seriously though, they could just be universal dropouts which don't quite fit this frame?
-
It died today RIP fun little frame... Was a really cool toy though, tailspins, spins, backwards nose manuals, wheelswaps were just so easy on this thing...
-
Just looked at the date, it seems you made a quick recovery as well since we were riding Derby a month later. So I guess that's another point in favour of the op.

Well, it's his money so I'd keep such arguments out of this dicussion and concentrate on the main point. I agree fully with OBM, a custom frame isn't something you're going to benefit from if you don't really know what you like. You could really mess your bike up unless you decide to base it on an existing design. IF you decide to get a used frame, may I recommend the older Deng frames which were made from Ultra6 - like an 05 Echo Control, those are amazing frames. edit (@ post below): Think they're no longer U6 due to the cost of that tubing. Might be wrong though so lets wait for Mr. Read to verify that.

Since it's all been explained very well, here's some practical advice. Don't get a GU TP, don't get a Pure Short. They are really horrible frames, obviously they have their followers, but the majority will probably agree with me here. One of the most important elements in a bikes geometry in my opinion is the head tube angle. I can ride a frame with 10mm bb rise or 60mm bb rise, but I can't ride a frame which has a 71 deg. head tube. It makes the front wheel stick out really far and that feels awful, especially if you have a heavy wheel/forks. Good all round modern frames I'd reccomend are the Czar long, GU ST and the Ozonys Cannibal. They've all got slightly longer chainstays, a fair bit of bb rise and a nice wheelbase. There's also the short Pitbull 07 which is a frame with pretty oldschool geometry - so that's something to consider.
-
Yup, they seem very similar to the Tryall rims which are 542mm if I remember correctly.
-
It's not like I actually got this frame so the only cost was the hastle to transfer all the bits I treat mods as something sentimental really, not something I can ride well. This frame is quite nippy and feels really nice, might just have it welded and hang on to it. It cracked at the dropout which is why it got sent to me. Was re-welded beforehand but started cracking again - somebody probably just did a very bad job
-
Thought I'd see if a short mod is something I'd like to ride, since I'd really fancy a 2009 DD Team. Anyhow, here it is. Nothing special really, just a colourless mod. Going to give it a good ride today, hope the right dropout doesn't fall off

Great vid, thanks for posting that!

Good one, couldn't figure it out myself http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=919754 complicated your idea
