  1. ^^ that's the advice I got last year in here. Didn't listen to it. Wish I did, we tried to work things out and just hit the same problems all over again.
  2. Being robbed of long awaited sustenance by a carpet. One of the most annoying things that can happen to a man, period.
  3. Engine is in. Rear wings were narrowed down to stock, got a bit of a problem now. Apparently 250's are the narrowest 18" slicks currently used in racing. This is with 2* camber, apparently 4 is recommended. Hoping for more clearance with camber arms.
  4. Few pics from work. When taking up this job I was focusing on the correct line of drivers I was coaching, smoothness and braking zones but I'm beginning to feel the balance of each car through my bottom even without a steering wheel in front of me. Hoping this will bring a much better feel for my own car. Apparently I can now attend trackdays for free, 3 weeks from now I'll be there in the M3 Turbo S and a charger behind the wheel. It's amazing how ham fisted one can be behind the wheel of these things and still manage a decent lap time. And a couple of interesting cars: Carrera RS with an amazing driver behind the wheel. Wasn't afraid of throwing the car into corners and dealt with the aftermath like a pro. And the nastier part of the job which is making sure someone with no experience who's paid to lap the track behind the wheel of a 911 doesn't kill himself. On the plus side, I get to drive him around after he's had a go. Still can't figure out the dynamics of these cars, they drive very differently. I was never a fan of Porsche but the more time I spend around these things and drive them, the more I love them. They're so beautifully engineered and finished. Porsche have turned an awkward engine position into a massive advantage. These cars stop like nothing else I've been in pulling 1.4g under braking on semi slicks, the engine is a symphony to behold and although it's so flat and harsh on the track, it's so usable on the road. Would gladly take a Carrera GTS or GT3 over pretty much anything on four wheels.
  5. Back to square one with the ladies. Just as I got over the last relationship and was ready to get into a new one, the girl I was going out with for like half a year decided to go off with someone else. And she indirectly asked me to wait in case it didn't work out haha
  6. Try the Jitsie Race MT2 brake pads. They should "add" 20mm to your rotor size easily. Stock MT2 pads are pretty wank to be honest.
  7. Trials edit inspired by Baraka from a recent meeting in the mountains. This video was meant as a joke but an hour into editing I found potential. You can focus more on the meditative side of trials, beautiful locations and great people than how big or crazy the jump is.
  8. Got a new daily for the next 4 days What I like most about it is that I can stream audio from Youtube to a Bose sound system. And it's an automatic. That's pretty much where my interest in road cars ends Thrashed a 991 996 and 997 around the track today. Will be doing the same tomorrow. Love this job so much
  9. Haha ok that's a misunderstanding. Quite a few clips were from Krakow so I assumed that's how Ukrainians call it
  10. Was trying to figure out what Kharkiv was until I saw the clips. Seriously, who calls it Kharkiv?
  11. Being reminded of my uni days when I'd be walking around the room revising notes. Never thought that at age 30 I'd be cramming in as much as possible about these 3 cars for work. Actually finding out some cool stuff about them, like why the ignition is always on the left. Never took any interest in Porsches. Started off by learning that these are 3 subsequent generations labeled 996, 997 and - quite logically - 991
  12. If you can't gap well with a 60ep freewheel a 108 won't help much. Post up a video of your technique, perhaps we can figure out what you're doing wrong.
  13. Some time ago I went over to a 17T 108 Bonz freewheel. It felt like something was badly wrong. Counted 72 engagement points Replaced it for a Jitsie 108 and that feels absolutely brilliant now (it's a fantastic freewheel BTW). I guess this will differ between riders and especially riding styles but personally I find there to be a huge gap between the 72 and 108. In fact, for the first few minutes after switching to the 108 I was putting too much rotation into the rear wheel on gaps. But where it really comes into play is if you limit the use of brakes through balance and drivetrain load. You want to be able to operate the drivetrain as finely as possible and it's so much easier with 108 engagements.
  14. A surprise was in store for me today. They did a stunning job on the roof. Don't have close ups of the cut off but it's perfect. They've also taken extra care to avoid cracks appearing where the CF pillars meet the metal ones by making a groove from some elastic putty and filling it in with silicone. Couldn't get the colour accurately reproduced on the picture but I'm so happy to have gone with the same one. Polishing next and then it's going in for final assembly. Going to make it pay for itself this time around, trackday rental
  15. Haha never seen anything like this. Total destruction of body and bike
  16. You'd need an exercise stand and a VR headset. Riding bikes using muscles is so passé. Is that other bike made from wood? Looks like it could flex quite a bit.
  17. Do you mean - will it matter when performing a new grind? Nope, not at all. On and never go back and forth when grinding a rim. Chose a direction and stick with it. Not sure if it matters which direction you go in so do the other sidewall in the opposite direction just to be on the safe side.
  18. Are the pads hitting square on the rim? If so, it could be the grind. Try this next time you grind your rim. Use your frame / forks if you don't have a truing stand. I got superb results every single time, however it's imperative you use a fresh disc - personally I'd go for a steel cutting one.
  19. Thought I'd share some preliminary observations regarding the Terrex Swift. They're f**king brilliant. They've made more of a difference to my riding than replacing half my bike last year due to wear and play. They grip much better than Ribos and it's fairly easy to readjust the foot position. They're also much much harder, thus feeling more secure on the bike. This is the opposite to what Ali wrote but I guess that's because the reference point is a worn flexy pair of shoes. Most importantly when preloading I can completely relax my calfs without fear that my feet will fall off the pedals. Getting much more power down. I can also play with different foot positioning, something that wasn't possible with worn shoes.
  20. You might find it on http://www.eengoedidee.nl/videoz/index.cgi?search_field=fil_type&search=bike-trials The video you ask was from 2006 and I think it featured a song from NWD3 by Dope? But yeah, that is definitely Marko Grosenik. Amazing amazing rider. Ended up wanting a 221Ti so badly after watching his vids.
  21. Tried on a pair of Terrex Swift and ended up buying them. They're super comfortable and also quite stiff, two things the Ribos were not. Going to test them tomorrow.
  22. Thanks Ali, that's some very helpful insight! So.. Ribo's look like hoofs, FG's fall apart, Jitsie aren't very good apparently and Five Tens are not quite my cup of tea when it comes to looks. This is probably my last trials shoe purchase and I want to make it right. That leaves the cheapest and quickest option which is the Terrex. Lots of people have recommended these. Going to pop down to a shop and take a look.
  23. Need help choosing some new shoes. Been riding in Ribo Lite's for the past years and I really don't like them. They offer little support and feel a bit flimsy perhaps due to their age and wear. The main reason I want to replace them is this: They seem to be bending strangely but I'm not sure whether this is related to shoes or technique? I have problems with my ankles and this could just be the body compensating for it. My feet are also really tired and sore after a few hours of riding. Should a trials shoe be stiff or not? Secondly the sole. Which of these is better? The first one is a direct fit with most caged pedals which are spaced to match. If the second sole is good, I was thinking about these shoes. Any experience with these on the forums? They're kind of expensive but at least they look like shoes, not hoofs. I know a lot of riders are recommending Addidas Terrex Solo's, also considering those but more as a last resort.
